Deeya's learning journey in molecular life sciences at HAN Master's: inspiring content, exploration of an international learning environment, cutting-edge research, and career development opportunities in advanced science.
My name is Diya. I'm 23 years old. I'm from India. I came to the Netherlands to pursue
my Master's in Molecular Life Science at the Haan University and I'm currently interning
at TropiQ Health Science.
My name is Koen Degering. I'm CEO of TropiQ Health Sciences, which is a biotech company
in Nijmegen and we work on tropical infectious diseases.
Back home, we tend to basically concentrate our focus on the theory aspect that I felt
like I lacked in the practical knowledge and which is why after graduation I did a year
of internships. Now that I get to intern while I study, I feel like I'm building on it.
The Master of Molecular Life Science is a perfect combination of working and learning.
It gets you trained in applied research and product development and obtain my Master's
degree at the same time.
The programme of Haan University appeals to us because it's very well tailored to the
world that we work in, which is drug discovery and biotechnology and the programme is very
fit for that purpose.
We feel that the project management skills and personal skills offered by the Haan University
really add value to the programme and to the students' competences and we can see the
impact in the performance of the students.
A key strength of the Master's course is that you get practical experiences while you're
studying and the attractive scholarships that are being offered to an international student
is a big plus point.
This Master's will make me a linking pin between technicians and experienced project leaders.
It really pays off for us to co-invest in this programme. We were very lucky, we got
a student that's performing really well, so we have a student that is actually performing
at the level of an employee already.
The student that's working in our lab has been here for over half a year and she really
helped us in understanding the mechanism of action of novel drugs that we work for
control of malaria.
I would definitely recommend the courses of Haan. In fact, I've already dated to a few
juniors in my university in India as well as aspiring small researchers who would love
to do a course abroad and I feel that this course would be really perfect for those who
like me would like to gain practical experiences.
