In this acrylic landscape painting tutorial, I paint a snow mountain lake with soft reflections, atmospheric distance, and a line of red trees along the shore.
The sky and mountain come first because they hold the whole painting together. Once those big shapes feel right, the rest becomes much easier to place without forcing it.
The sky stays simple with White and Ultramarine Blue, blended softly with a large flat brush so the background feels clean and airy. After that, the mountain is blocked in with Ultramarine Blue, White, and just a little Black to push the shadow side back. The snow needs a careful hand here. Too much bright white too early makes the mountain lose its form, so most of the light notes stay controlled and only land where the planes turn toward the light. Around the base of the mountain, a few softened edges create that misty break before the painting moves down into the shoreline. The red trees are added later with Scarlet Red and Orange, with only a few lighter touches of White so they do not get chalky. In the lake, the same mountain and tree colors return in a quieter way than the land above. That is what helps the surface stay calm.
You will see soft wet blending in the sky, layered mountain work, broken snow texture, gentle reflection blending, and fine liner brush work in the birch branches.
The part that needs the most patience is the reflection area. The color is pulled down first, then softened lightly across. If that area gets overworked, the water loses its clean look very fast.

What you will learn in this lesson

• How to build a snowy mountain with cool value changes
• How to use warm red trees without overpowering the scene
• How to soften reflections while keeping the water calm

My videos are intentionally silent so you can enjoy a calm visual painting session and follow the brushwork without distraction.
