Book of Songs == Minor Odes == "Picking Ferns"
Picking ferns, picking ferns, the ferns are just beginning to grow. I say I'll go home, I say I'll go home, but the year is almost over. I have no home, no family, because of the need for shelter. I have no time to rest, because of the need for shelter.

Picking ferns, picking ferns, the ferns are just beginning to grow. I say I'll go home, I say I'll go home, but my heart is filled with sorrow. My heart is filled with intense sorrow, I am both hungry and thirsty. My garrison is not yet settled, I have no one to send a messenger home.

Picking ferns, picking ferns, the ferns are just beginning to grow strong. Returning home, returning home, the year is drawing to a close. The king's affairs are never-ending, I have no time to rest. My heart is filled with sorrow, I cannot return!

What is that over there? The flowers of the common people. What is that road over there? The chariot of a gentleman. The war chariot is harnessed, the four horses are ready. How dare we settle down? Three victories in a month!

Driving those four horses, the four horses gallop. The gentleman's reliance, the common man's craving. The four horses are swift, with ivory bows and fish-skin quivers. How can we not be vigilant every day? The battle is extremely urgent!

When I went away, the willows were swaying. Now I return, the rain and snow are falling. My journey is slow, I am thirsty and hungry. My heart is grieved, none know my sorrow!

===Some ancient Chinese dance postures and poses are preserved in Chinese grotto murals, sculptures, portrait stones, portrait bricks, pottery figurines, and various unearthed cultural relics in paintings and decorative patterns depicting dance figures; Chinese historical and literary materials also contain a wealth of specific descriptions of past dance figures. Chinese dancers, beginning in the 1950s, have made significant achievements in the research, organization, reproduction, and development of classical Chinese dance. They have established a set of classical Chinese dance textbooks and created a large number of dance and dance drama works in the style of classical Chinese dance. This has resulted in aesthetic characteristics that are delicate and graceful, combining strength and gentleness, blending emotion and scenery, integrating technique and martial arts, and achieving perfect harmony and unity of essence, energy, spirit, and the movements of hand, eye, body, method, and step. Classical Chinese dance has an extremely long history. Its origins can be traced back to ancient Chinese court dances or even more distant folk dances. From the Zhou Dynasty onwards, through the Han, Jin, and even Tang and Five Dynasties periods, the courts established specialized music and dance institutions to concentrate and train professional musicians and dancers. They also organized, researched, processed, and developed folk dances for self-entertainment, religious dances, and even foreign dances, thus forming court dances. Among them, the "Six Dynasties Dance" of the Zhou Dynasty (comprising "Yunmen," "Xianchi," "Dashao," "Daxia," "Dabo," and "Dawu"), and the "Nine Parts of Music," "Ten Parts of Music," "Sitting Music," "Music Music," and "Grand Music" of the Tang Dynasty, are diverse and each has its own unique style. Chinese court dance was an important tool for rulers throughout history to enjoy themselves and to praise their achievements, primarily performed by female musicians. Because court dances were created according to the aesthetic tastes of the rulers, some works inevitably exhibited a decadent style and negative content; however, most were created by artists based on Chinese folk dances, thus possessing many exquisite aspects of traditional Chinese art.
