What's happening guys, I hope we're all good out there and welcome back to another video.
So we have been pretty quiet the last few months. We basically came home
to help my little sister ship out the calendars. It's quite a busy time.
She had hurt her lower back so she was struggling to lift the boxes
and yeah it wasn't in our plans to come home but we came back,
helped ship out them and then it was Christmas time so we decided to stay for Christmas
and then the last few months the weather's just been absolutely shocking.
So we're now at the end of March, the weather. We're getting blue skies again.
It's still a wee bit chilly but we are ready to go back on the road.
So we are leaving tomorrow and we're basically going down to Newcastle.
It's the same route we always do. Our bike is over in Austria in Vienna.
That's where we left it. So we're going down to Newcastle,
get an overnight ferry over to the Netherlands and then we've got from Amsterdam.
Yes, I know you can say hello in a second.
Then we've got the overnight train Amsterdam to Vienna.
So that is a big journey we've got to do to get back on the bike.
So it's going to probably take around about a week.
Once I get to the bike as well, I want to do a wee bit of work on it.
We've got a new basket for Nala. I'm going to show you that in a second.
I want to get that all attached for her properly
Hi, let me show you a few other things we've been working on recently.
Where are you?
Yes, there's my girl.
We're all ready to get back on the road.
Yes, we are. It's been actually pretty miserable weather the last two months.
It's just been raining non-stop.
So I've not had Nala out much at all, have we?
No.
And we've not had any bike here either. So we couldn't really get out cycling, could we?
No.
Anyway, a few things we have been busy with when we've been back home.
She's just enjoying a wee back rub there.
But we are now a registered charity.
So that is the logo there.
And the charity is called Nala's Ark.
So there's Nala.
And I'm holding her in my hand.
Oi, let me see.
Then we've got the wee Bosnian mountain behind her.
And then a sunrise and a flower and a wee oak tree.
Oh, can you see?
She loves this room.
But the birds sit up in that gutter up there.
So they sit and wind her up, don't they?
Yes.
Oh, big scratches on the side.
Yes, big scratches on the side.
Anyway, with the announcement of Nala's Ark,
we've also released a few new items of merch that I'll just show you just now.
So we have blankets now that my mum and sister work on.
And we've got four colours.
So we've got that one there.
That's Nala's favourite.
Then we've got that beautiful green one there.
Then we've got this purpley blue one here.
And then we've got that one there.
But look at that.
That's one of my favourite ones.
That one's Nala's favourite.
That's the one I've always carried on the bike.
And they are available in two sizes.
So we've got a nice big one.
And that'd be an ideal picnic blanket or just a throw if you're sitting on the couch.
And then we've got a wee small blanket as well.
And that's an ideal size just for your four-legged best friend, isn't it?
You want to go and get the birds?
Are you going to shout at them through the window?
And we also have released some hats as well.
Now my mum and sister have been doing these.
My mum and sister do everything.
My mum's like the better knitter.
And then my sister sort of helps.
But she does an amazing job.
And we finish it off with a wee logo there.
A wee tag with the Nala's Art logo.
And the hats are reversible.
And on the other side we have the One Bike One World logo.
So we've got hats as well.
And then we also have some badges.
We've also got stickers as well.
So I'll show you the stickers first.
There's one of them.
That's like a simplified version of the logo.
Just Nala sitting on my hand.
And if I can get that out of Nala's paws.
We've got that one as well.
But beautiful.
Then we've got wee pin badges.
So again, we've got the simplified version.
Nala sitting on my hand.
And one of the actual logo as well.
Which are nice.
And then we've got these.
So, if you've followed our journey along the years,
you'll have noticed animals we've rescued.
We've got Nala there.
Then we've got Baloo.
Baloo was rescued in Albania.
Found them underneath an orange tree.
So you can see the wee orange tree there.
Then we have Yasuki,
who was found in the fields of Serbia.
And Charlie, who was also found in Serbia.
And then we have Marley,
who was found in Dunbar, my home town.
So there we go.
And if you notice, the backing cards,
they just create the big story going along the road goes.
And then Marley was found in Dunbar,
so we've got Dunbar Castle there.
Which is all pretty cool, isn't it?
He's just enjoying the sun now.
He don't know whether to jump up
and get the birds or just enjoy the sun.
Anyway, so aye, we've got them
and all that available in the store as well.
And what else?
Nala's new basket.
So, what have we done here?
This is a bigger basket
than the one that's on the bike just now.
I'm not sure if it'll fit,
but we're gonna try and get it on.
And what we've basically done,
so Nala's other basket,
it's really hard to get a bed inside,
but now we have got a nice padded bed.
And it's got two big cushions down there.
Padded all around the side.
She quite likes the tight space.
She'll jump in there when she wants.
And yeah, I'm just kind of hoping
we'll be able to get that back on the bike.
So it's one of Nala's favourite beds,
but it was too big for this
and my auntie Julie, she cut it open,
took away some of the foam
and then sewed it back up again.
So that is all beautiful for Nala.
I'm just hoping it fits.
Anyway, that all being said,
in this video we're gonna be travelling
back over to Austria.
Today we're gonna be spending the time
with my mum and sister and little River
and just basically chilling with them
and saying our goodbyes.
So that all being said,
let's get on with it.
Nala, yes.
So we'll give her a wee brush.
Oh, she's turning over.
You think she wants her belly done?
Yeah.
Oh, do you want your belly brushed?
Go, go, go, go.
Go.
Yay.
Oh, so dizzy.
Get back up.
Big push.
Higher.
Can we go higher?
Where are we going?
Thank you very much.
Thank you.
You're welcome.
We've had a fair few farewell dinners.
Yes, my wee girl.
Where are we going?
We're going inside?
Whoa.
In we go.
So, today is a big day.
We're getting back on the road.
We are all packed up.
So I've got my rucksack.
We've got Nala's rucksack.
We've got one of my bike panniers
with some stuff in.
And we've also got Nala's new bike basket as well.
So that is all that I'm carrying.
Oh, yes, my wee girl.
Yes, my wee girl.
Yes, coming up.
So yeah, that's all I'm carrying.
The plan is...
The plan is we're going to get a lift down to Newcastle.
We're going to go and see some family first.
And then we're going to go and jump on the ferry
and ferry over to the Netherlands.
And then we get a train.
I think it's an overnight train
which goes from Amsterdam Central.
Get the tail out of my mouth.
From Amsterdam Central all the way to Vienna.
And then we'll pick up the bike.
We've got a wee bit of work I want to do to the bike.
The pedals are quite sharp.
I want to do something with them.
And also putting Nala's new basket on.
Also need to get my big sleeping bag washed.
So I'm going to go and do that.
And yeah, that's the wee update.
Anyway guys, just now I'm going to go and walk with my mum.
I've been walking the last few months
so I'm going to get a final walk.
Here she is here.
Hello mother.
Good morning.
Are you all ready for our drive down to Newcastle?
Yep.
Yep, there we go.
So we're going to go a nice wee walk first
and then we're going to pack the car and start driving.
So let's go.
Beautiful morning.
Nice blue skies.
But it is nippy though.
Road closed over winter.
We had some rough seas and the wall caved in just here.
Big hole in the road.
And then when they were filling it in
a lorry sank through the road just down here.
So they closed it.
And we've heard that they're meant to be closing it for the near future.
My mum reckons it's about 18 months.
And then here we are along at Dunbar Harbour.
That's the castle over there.
We'll have a closer look.
It's quite a rough sea at the minute we've got.
That's the back wall.
And if you watch over here there's big waves hitting off it and coming over.
Are we going to see one?
Of course we're not.
Anyway, this is where I spent most of my childhood.
Down here, swimming in that water.
There's loads of jumps here you can do.
You can jump into the pier.
You can jump off the back wall.
And then you've got the castle and cliff.
And then you've got these cliffs around here as well.
That's the Maggie.
But I would not be doing it today.
It is absolutely freezing.
And then down here, that wee bit there, that used to be an old swimming pool.
And then there used to be another one around there as well.
And Dunbar had a couple outdoor pools.
And this is the start of the prom, which is the walk around the cliffs.
But another beautiful view.
So lucky to live here.
If you ever get the chance to come and check out Dunbar, highly recommend it.
It's a stunning wee seaside town.
My mum and the dogs are off.
So since January the 1st, I have been walking basically every single day.
This is one of the walks I've been on.
I do this every single morning.
I usually do it just as the sun's coming up.
But how beautiful is that behind me?
It's just absolutely gorgeous.
And since January the 1st as well, just by being more active and eating healthy,
I've lost five stone.
Still got a few more to lose.
But losing that weight is going to help massively once we're back on the bike.
Because half the time I was knackered.
That big rock out there, at low tide you can see seals sitting on top of it.
And last week I counted about eight.
But it's a good wee bit to come here and spot birds sitting on these rocks.
They've got all the cormorants drying their wings.
Also a way out there, that wee speckle, that's the Bass Rock.
Which is pretty famous.
Anyway, need to keep on moving.
My mum is not stopping.
And then, this is the end of our walk today.
But usually I go round Winterfield and then across the beach all the way along.
And then come back into Dunbar.
But we need to get back, say goodbye to my wee sister in River
and then start driving to Newcastle.
So, let's go.
Ready?
Yes, are you lying down as well?
Okay.
Right, shall we give Nala a cuddle as well?
Yeah.
Come on.
Oh, me first.
Give Nala a big cuddle?
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
She's going to miss you.
Say bye to Nala.
Say bye.
Right, Holly.
Hi, I hope life's your business with me.
Yeah, you look after stuff.
Oh.
But I'll see you when I'm back.
I love you.
Look after yourself.
That's good.
And you look after mummy.
Yeah?
Yes.
And I'll look after Nala.
Bye, bye, bye, bye, bye.
Oh, yes.
Look at that sunshine.
Oh, oh, I see you girl.
Oh, don't like the smell of that.
That's us just halfway down to Newcastle now.
Just stopped for some lunch.
I've got a hummus and red pepper roll.
And my mum has got a cheese and chilli jam.
Beautiful.
Yes, look at all the hair on me.
My t-shirt is just absolutely covered.
Anyway, that is us in Newcastle now.
We're just going to nip in to see this auntie and uncle
and then we're going to go and visit one more.
We're running a wee bit behind schedule
so we're just going to make this a wee flying visit.
But this is my auntie here.
She was the one who done the work on the bike basket
so we got some flowers.
Take them in.
We're not going to bother.
Fill them in.
So we'll just see when we're over at the ferry terminal.
Let's go.
And here we are.
The port of Tyne.
So basically we just park up.
I take Nala in.
Got to get our next scan to check our passport.
Check my passport.
Give us the boarding pass.
We're good to go.
Right, got Nala in the bag.
We're just heading down to the reception
where we'll get our scanned and checked in.
So check in nice and easy.
We just went in.
We basically just take a wee scan of Nala's neck.
Make sure our microchip matches with her passport.
Oh, sharp claws, girl.
Sharp claws.
So that is us all done.
Now all we need to do is say our goodbyes.
So I'll give you a quick look inside the car.
Yes, yes, yes.
Look at all the fluff that's coming off Nala's hair.
There's loads of it.
She's going to get a good brush when we're inside that ferry room anyway.
Yes, you are.
Got a brush ready to get her.
I've got a brush ready to attack her.
Yes, we're going to get rid of all that loose fur.
Yes, we are.
Yes.
Right, anyway, that is it.
Thank you very much, Mum, for looking after me and putting up with my shite.
But I'll see you when I see you.
Soon.
Aye, she wants to come out cycling with us.
She wants to do a couple of weeks on the bike.
So we'll get her a tent.
We'll get her out rough camping, wild camping.
We'll see.
Anyway, thank you very much.
Love her to bits, don't we?
Love her to bits.
Look at her.
Gets easier, this.
We're pros at saying goodbye now.
Yeah.
She's got her glasses to hide her eyes, just in case she needs it.
But anyway, let's go.
I'm going to be knackered by the time I get over there.
See you later.
And final wave to the mother.
Off she goes.
Good girl.
There we go, through security.
Nice and easy.
Just take the bags off, get them scanned.
And away we go.
Tent's down here?
Yes.
Yeah, perfect.
Thank you.
Thank you very much.
What can you see?
Yes, yes.
This is our viewpoint just now.
Just when all the lorries come in, that's security over there.
Welcome to the tent hotel.
Very nice.
Yes.
Anyway, this is our room.
The rooms are pretty good.
We've got four beds.
Two bunk beds.
One, two.
Then two beds down here.
I'll probably have that one.
And I'd imagine Nala will sleep with me, but she might jump in our basket.
And in here, we've got a wee shower, bathroom and a wee sink.
You coming?
Good girl.
Anyway, I think we've got about two hours until we start setting sail.
Nala's not allowed to leave anywhere apart from here.
There's a wee bit down the back, but it's like really loud engines,
so I don't usually take her out.
So I'll take you a wee tour around the boat.
You coming up?
Whoa.
I'll take you a wee tour around the boat
and I'll just get Nala nice and settled in the room first.
Just make sure she's all chilled.
Yes, my wee girl.
What can we see?
Look at her.
I've forgotten Nala likes bags in the top bunk,
so I've put her basket up here and she'll like it in there.
Nice and comfy for her.
Yes, my wee girl.
Oh, you've got a back scratch.
Anyway, for dinner tonight,
I've got a roll, a wee hummus and roast peppers.
It's beautiful.
And a couple apples.
There we go.
That is us just setting sail.
What's happening?
Are you getting all comfy there, girl?
Oh, yes.
My wee girl.
Look at her wee paws.
Anyway, since we're just starting to set sail,
I'll take you for a wee walk around the ship
and we'll wave goodbye to land as we're going.
Look at her go.
Are you happy?
Anyway, let's go.
That's the dog hotel down there.
I'm gonna have a wee peek.
And it's just basically a room with cages.
You can leave your dog if you want or cat,
but Nala will be staying in the room.
This whole floor all the way along here,
this is all for my pets.
It's actually quite good.
Got loads of pet pictures up here as well.
But there's none of a cat,
so I've always fought to myself.
I should bring one of Nala and just stick it over my top.
When the boat starts setting sail as well,
you hear all the car alarms go off.
You're meant to switch it off as you get on the boat,
but nobody ever does,
so there's loads of them going off.
Anyway, plan is we're gonna go up and get a cappuccino
and then we'll go up and stand on the deck
and watch us set sail.
So let's go.
There we go, got duty free up here.
But we'll go out first.
Got a wee oat milk cappuccino.
Then we'll go outside.
And there we go, just like that, leaving the UK.
See you next time.
So we've just set sail and it's strangely very choppy,
so I'm just gonna go back down and chill with Nala.
All the car alarms are going off.
Wow, oh my word.
It's very choppy.
Hello.
Hiya.
One of the times we were on the ferry
and we were going from Rome to Barcelona,
it was really choppy and we both got seasick.
I can remember waking up in the middle of the night
and Nala was in the corner of my room being sick.
I stood up, went to get her
and then seasickness hit me,
so we just basically cuddled the entire way.
So that is why I'm gonna go back to my room just now
Oh, my wee girl.
Oh, it's a massive swell
and we've only just left as well.
The captain actually came on tannoy
and he also mentioned it as well.
Let's have a look at the big waves.
Doesn't look that bad.
Yes.
Don't you chew that cable.
Anyway guys, it's getting dark now
and the boat is pretty rocky,
so there's no point trying to walk about
because it will probably end up flooring me.
Eh?
Yes, and we don't want to get seasickness again.
Anyway, that all being said guys,
good night and we'll see you in the morning.
Say cheese to the camera.
Say cheese.
Are they nice?
Yeah.
