FULL RIDE AT THE END OF THE VIDEO. Y'all have voted for the best motorcycle ride in Arkansas and it's one I know and love - Rte 23 - also known as the Pig Trail.
Motorcycles are definitely one of the most beautiful ways to see the world.
Along the way, riders always seem to find the most curvy roads,
the best restaurants, the coldest beer, and the most interesting destinations.
And I've learned that the best way to find them is to simply ask the ride.
That's why I asked over 750,000 of you who follow me on social media
to cast your vote on the absolute best.
This is Motorcycle Destinations.
The Pig Trail is a road nestled in the Ozark Mountains,
about an hour from both Fayetteville and Fort Smith, Arkansas.
And it runs directly through the Ozark National Forest.
The road runs through timber-covered mountains,
clear mountain streams, and isolated farms and ranches.
The road starts in the north in Brashears, Arkansas,
and ends in the south in a little town called Ozark, Arkansas.
Welcome to Turner Bend. It is a must-stop on the Pig Trail.
It is about 15 miles north of Ozark, Arkansas,
which happens to be the gateway to the bottom of the Pig Trail.
If you're looking for a spot to find other bikers and other motorcyclists,
you don't have to look any further.
Turner Bend is a stop for so many bikers.
I've met a lot of really great people right here at this very location.
And inside is a general store where you get everything from a drink to a snack,
and even some souvenirs that say the Pig Trail.
All right, y'all. I am here with Roxy and Sarah.
Sarah is from the Chamber of Commerce.
And Roxy, you're the mayor of Ozark.
I am. I have that privilege.
How long have you been the mayor of Ozark?
Since 2019.
So what kind of things can you tell us about the Pig Trail?
Let's get some history.
The Pig Trail is 19 miles of Highway 23 that goes through the Ozark Mountains.
It starts in Fayetteville, and it ends in Ozark.
And a lot of people don't realize that it actually ends all the way down in Ozark.
So we're the foothills of the Pig Trail.
So I heard rumors the Pig Trail used to be the route.
They used to actually transport pigs across the state of Arkansas.
Is that a true story? Do we know?
It was.
And also, it's named for the feral hogs that would dig paths through the mountains.
So those were never straight.
So, you know, the twists and turns and curves are named for
kind of how they would make a mess out of things.
Well, this was voted the number one road in all of Arkansas
by riders from all over the world who have come and experienced it.
So I wanted to, on behalf of myself, give you this plaque
telling you congratulations on being home to Arkansas's number one ride.
Thank you so much. We appreciate you.
Thank you. And thank you for voting for the Pig Trail.
We are going to make our way up the Pig Trail starting here in Ozark, Arkansas.
Ozark is a small community of just over 3,000 people.
And it's just got a lot of old world charm.
Like the jailhouse you see behind me built in 1914.
I can't imagine how many outlaws and criminals were housed inside this old building.
It's almost a little eerie.
You can find all kinds of history like this across the Pig Trail.
But now let's make our way north.
When you're riding the Pig Trail, you'll see that the trees kind of crowd the road,
creating a covered corridor, tunnel of trees through.
You get the contrast of sun and shade when you're riding through this road.
Very little development has happened along the Pig Trail,
giving travelers a glimpse of what the Ozark settlers would have had to explore.
The Pig Trail offers a couple lookouts over the mountains.
Welcome to the lookout.
A lot of bikes pull in here and stage up along this wall I'm sitting on
and take their pictures with this beautiful backdrop.
It's another spot along the Pig Trail you can stop to meet some rad people.
And this one has no gift shop.
But boy is the scenery beautiful.
Most of the scenery you're going to find while you're riding is heavily wooded,
deep forests, and wildlife.
All in all, you have not ridden the Pig Trail unless you've gone from Ozark all the way to Brashears.
The Pig Trail is no secret road at all.
Riders come from all over the world to experience a ride down the Pig Trail.
It's a road I'm familiar with and I've been on before.
It's no surprise to me it was voted number one road in all of Arkansas.
In the videos I've done in the past, I've given you glimpses
not quite as beautiful as a glimpse I'm going to give you today.
But if you are interested in seeing the entire road start to finish,
I will give you a point-of-view ride from the very top to the very bottom of the Pig Trail.
The truth is, you haven't ridden the entire Pig Trail
unless you've made it three miles past the interstate into the town of Ozark.
And while you're here, make sure you visit the old square,
some cool restaurants, and quite a bit to see.
