Our Forests Are Under Threat.

Our nation's forests are under threat. In the last four years, wildfires have burned nearly 30 million acres and leveled over 40,000 structures, 28,000 of them homes. By 2027, 25% of trees will fall to pests or disease. And every year, more and more forested land is fragmented by development and shifting land uses, changing our ecosystems forever. With over 800 million forested acres across the U.S., organizing efforts to protect our forests is a massive undertaking. With diverse flora and fauna, climates, and cultures across the country, different regions require distinct forest management strategies. As of 2010, every U.S. state and territory has developed their own Forest Action Plan. These plans are crucial roadmaps for coordinating local conservation efforts to meet national goals.
