Keanu you're known as one of the nicest men in Hollywood and this character is a full 180.
What was it like for you? What was it like for you? Did you have a lot of fun playing this
character and what was it like for you guys to witness him in this role? Yeah he's kind of post
yeah but but you have a sense of that yeah um it comes out every every now and then we have we
have a little bit a little a little but uh it was uh it was really fun. I need to know everyone who
hates you. You need to go and apologize to them and without them realizing it feel out if they're
the ones behind the video. Who hates me? Your old manager, your old trainer, your new trainer, your
old pool guy, your old old pool guys, your mom. Your mom hates you. Then I have like a separate list for
like directors, actors, costume designers, hair and makeup people, craft service whatever like
executives that you've worked with if you want me to start on that. Jesus Christ. You can tell
you've had a lot of fun making this project. Don't you're writing, directing, producing and then on
top of that you assemble essentially the Avengers of comedic actors. Tell me a little bit about how
that came to be. Well first of all we got to give a shout out to Ellen Lewis who is our brilliant
casting director who cast Martin Scorsese's films and I met her because she cast me in Wolf of Wall
Street and I said when I direct movies I want you to be my casting director because Ellen treats
every part like they're the star of the movie even if they have one line you know and these
people I mean come on it doesn't take a brainiac to figure out that they're brilliant it's just the
fact that they said yes. You know the original idea for the movie was for Keanu and he never
left my side. He never wavered. I owe him for life. There's a reason everybody loves this guy
and it's earned. What am I doing? What's going on? And the whole movie truly is them three and
the whole movie hangs on his performance and it's a stunning he won't say this he'll go like oh
but it is a stunning performance and these people I've been a fan of Matt for so long
and I called Bradley Cooper and I said I'm thinking of hiring Matt and he was like
bro do it right now he's just like hung up he started screaming about how brilliant Matt was
and then I got to meet him and the second I shook his hand I was like all right I'm lucky to get to
meet this guy and then Cameron is just literal heaven there's no other way to say it she is
actual heaven in all form. She's obviously like an icon you see her on screen
but she brings a light of joy and puts confidence in you as a director
no she's like like otherworldly I love this woman so much yeah can I give you guys anything
you want to say about Joan after that screen I mean how amazing working with him it's honestly
everything that he just gave to us is who he is as well like he is a joyful a ray of light
every day just like ready to go it's like the enthusiasm the inclusiveness the permissiveness
like all of that just giving us you know every day this incredible opportunity to try anything
and everything it was just incredible and the layers of this movie that I think what I love
that people are going to get to watch this movie over and over on Apple because there's just so
much that reveals itself every time you watch it you know there's it's not a cut and dry story
there's layers to it that I think people are going to really enjoy watching it
over and over again seeing what you know peeling back the onion you know I know I did I wanted to
add that it was made for to be streamed on Apple and that's it as a filmmaker that's a very
intentional act like there's some movies I make that should be in theaters and there's some that
should be for streaming and with this new it's not one or the other for me I really love that
this movie you can revisit the next day if you missed a joke or you feel something you can watch
it again an hour later or something like that and the movie's meant to be revisited in that fashion
