North Carolina SOUL FOOD & BBQ + Zip Lining and Whitewater Rafting | Charlotte, North Carolina
My third day in Charlotte, North Carolina, was my most epic one yet! I dined on some delicious food at two amazing local restaurants and got to try some zip lining and whitewater rafting at the world’s premier facility for extreme outdoor sports. My first stop of the day was Zada Jane’s Corner Café, a funky, colorful spot in the heart of Plaza Midwood that is known for their delicious soul food breakfasts. While I was there, I had an amazingly fluffy biscuit with mixed berry and apple butters, coffee, and their outstanding Bunny Rancheros, which is two over easy eggs that come with black beans, pepper jack cheese queso, guacamole, salsa verde, warm flour tortillas, and your choice of meat.

Next up is the U.S. National Whitewater Center, a 1,300 acre facility dedicated to outdoor activities like stand-up paddle boarding, rock climbing, zip lining, mountain biking, kayaking, flat water kayaking, and of course, whitewater rafting. I decided to do some zip lining, an obstacle course, a free fall, and whitewater rafting down the Wilderness Channel.
I built up an appetite after all of the extreme activities I did, so I had lunch at River’s Edge, the restaurant at the U.S. National Whitewater Center. I ordered the incredible Smokehouse Plate (smoked brisket, smoked sausage, pork belly, and sweet potato fries) and their Cabin Dish Avenue Maria IPA.
