On my fourth day in Charlotte, North Carolina, I visited one of the Uptown area’s most popular attractions and had an outstanding Southern brunch at one Charlotte’s most acclaimed restaurants. Come along with me as I continue to explore the Queen City!

My first stop was the NASCAR Hall of Fame, an enormous, interactive museum that is dedicated to the heritage of NASCAR and the people who built the sport into the phenomenon it is today. I learned a lot of interesting facts about the history and icons of NASCAR, tried an awesome driving simulation, and tried the pit crew challenge while I was there. Next, I took a ten-minute walk through the Uptown area to Mert’s Heart & Soul, a critically acclaimed local soul food restaurant that has been featured on the Food Network, for brunch. I ordered their beef ribs, their famous cornbread, salmon cakes, and their signature dish, the soul roll. Everything was outstanding! The beef ribs and cornbread were some of the best I’ve ever had!
