⚠️ Key Highlights: Sánchez warns of potential Lebanon crisis Calls on Europe to act urgently Emphasizes humanitarian risks and escalation fears Highlights growing Middle East tensions
Pedro Sánchez has warned that Europe must act urgently to prevent what he described as a new Gaza from unfolding in Lebanon,
as tensions continue to rise across the Middle East.
Speaking in Barcelona, Sánchez stressed the growing humanitarian risks
and called on European nations to intensify diplomatic efforts to avoid further escalation,
highlighting fears that the conflict could spread beyond current flashpoints and deepen regional instability.
We will not allow a new Gaza in Lebanon,
because in the face of blatant violations of international humanitarian law,
Europe has to act coherently,
if we also want the rest of the world to look at us and support us
in the support we are giving and lending to Ukraine
in its fight for freedom against the invader, in this case Putin's Russia.
Yesterday, the Spanish government and I ourselves proposed that,
by coherence and also by empathy,
what the European Union has to do is suspend its association agreement with Israel,
because it is evident that it is trampling and violating many of the articles of that association agreement,
especially those related to respect for international law and humanitarian law.
