Why I like to travel alone/ Improvising dinner on campfire
It's only seven degrees outside. I don't know if you can see.
Little bit, little bit cold this morning. It's not good. All right, we're just gonna go
park at a rest area. Nothing, nothing special.
So I just made a little oatmeal with some frozen fruit and I'm gonna enjoy that.
And we're gonna go have a little walk with the cat at this
called Kitiwanga Battle Hill. I'm gonna go walk this little lady here. But for now, like I said,
I'm gonna enjoy my little oatmeal and I think I'm gonna sleep in this style tonight. I'm just so
kind of, yeah, a little bit of driving. So yeah, I think I'm gonna relax for the rest of the day
here. This is the best part of traveling by yourself. Like people are like, I hear that
in the comments sometimes. People are like, oh, do you feel alone? Do you feel like, you know,
you feel lonely by yourself? No, this is the best part. I can do whatever I want.
If I felt to drive more, I will drive more. If I felt to go in the backcountry in the bush and do
some 4x4 type of, I'm gonna do that. If I'm tired, I just want to lay down and just chill for the rest
of the day, I can also do that, which is the best part. I really enjoy traveling by myself.
And it's kind of like something that I kind of learned since I'm traveling by myself
in the van. It's when a little problem happens, you know, that cannot be like a big thing,
but just, you know, like you check engine light turned on or whatever, you know, like you just
have to figure out something. You have to figure out in the middle of nowhere,
you have to figure out where to get water or things like this. You are by yourself,
you figure out things by yourself or where to sleep and all that. And it's kind of like a
sense of like, I don't know, I feel like I'm more capable of so many other stuff now,
you know what I mean? Just because I do all those things by myself and I, you know,
figure out little problems, little things, little things that happen that I have to figure out where
to get the water or where to sleep at night. And if it's a good place to sleep, is it, or if not,
you know, like I'm just feel more capable and more kind of stronger if you want, in a sense,
because I'm by myself. This is my thought this morning about traveling when you're alone.
I really enjoy it. And don't get me wrong. I mean, like I'm sure, you know, traveling with someone
is just fun too. You obviously can laugh and can, you know, like chat and all that.
But there's a good thing about traveling by yourself too. So I'm going to enjoy this
and we're going to go for a walk. You want to go for a walk?
Let's go upstairs, kitty. There's some eagles. I presume they just tried to catch some fish right
now. Just in the bottom there. This is probably one of the first times that we do a trail with,
that's got a good amount of people in it. And kitty did good. She just stopped right now.
She's a little bit dark. We climbed all those stairs and we have another set to do again.
And yeah, she just did good. Like she let, like she was just freezing though. Like when she saw
someone, she was just like lay down in the middle of the trail. Like kitty, you have to let people
come, come by. Some people took picture of her, of course, you know that. But now, a little break.
Kitty was tired with all those stairs, a lot of stairs. Uh, she's eating right now. She's just
hungry. Uh, that was a nice little, super, super small walk, but yeah, with a bunch of stairs.
So what it is, the battlefield is, it doesn't have that much to watch to be honest.
That's why I didn't really film it, but uh, it's got a big hill and people used to be on that hill
to kind of fight between the first nation and all that. So yeah, that's what it is. But yeah,
however, she's got a lot of like information along the way, along the walk, but yeah.
I'm gonna relax a little bit and find where we're going to sleep later on tonight.
So I'm right here. This is a free campsite with a maximum of stay of three days, but we're just
going to stay one night here. It's a kind of a little small one, but it's perfect.
All right, we're just making home. We have Jackery charging kitty here who stole my spot.
This is your spot kitty. We have a little fireplace and we have free firewood just right
there. So later on I might, might decide to have a fire. Why not? It rained a lot last night and
we are not in a fire ban here up north. So yeah, I might decide to have a little campfire. It will
be the first for a very long time. So yeah, I'm just going to chill here with the cat and enjoy
this little afternoon. Relax here. All right kitty. Go to your spot. Go to your bed. There you go.
That's your spot. There you go. All right, let's go see the wood. See what they have.
So this parking main thing by volunteer stay three days maximum. All right.
Oh, seems like, uh, oh, this one's, oh my God. That's really nice.
I was doing some stuff with it. I've always, it's probably from a mine, uh, one mile very close from
here, I guess. And that's their bad wood type of. Whoa. Could almost build something with this
road. It's going to be hard to split maybe though, but yeah. All right. Let's grab a couple.
All right. I think it's only like, uh, three o'clock, but I'm getting hungry. It's a little
bit chilly. I don't know how cold it is, but, uh, yeah, I started fire. And I spoke with the, uh,
one of the guy who was taking care of the place here. And I asked him like, uh, just want to make
sure, are we allowed to do fire? Just got a fire ban and they told me no, there's no fire ban. The
fire ban, um, got removed at beginning of, um, August. So we are good to go. All right. I think
it's, uh, pretty much, uh, time for lunch dinner. I didn't have a lunch though. Um,
didn't mean to eat plants so much because I didn't tell that we'll have a fire tonight,
but I have like one sausage. And for those of you wonder what kind of plant-based sausage that I have,
focus. There you go. Oh, right here. Focus on it. This is the, uh, Tuffer Key
plant-based Italian sausage. They're all good from that vine, by the way.
Uh, so I think I'm going to have one sausage. I have four mushrooms. I'm just like, you know,
like grabbing what I have. I have one onion and I think I might have some,
I think I might put some buckwheat and we're going to have like a mix of things. I have a
this as well. And yeah, make a kind of like dinner with all of this. So it is almost all cooked.
The buckwheat took around 10 minutes to cook and I just taste it and it's pretty good.
So I'm going to add some frozen, some frozen spinach to as well.
And I'm going to put back the sausage and a little splash of soy sauce.
So I think that's going to be the dinner. I just put things together as you can tell.
All right. It's almost done. So this is what my dinner looked like.
I'm just glad that the, uh, campfire season seems to start back again. Oh, feels good.
Really missed it. And I'm talking not too loud because some people arrive and
I don't like to vlog when I see people in front of me. I get shy. But to go back to a little bit
the subject that I started this morning, because yeah, you've been guys following me for since
this morning. Um, it's not because you're alone that you cannot have a nice meal that you cannot
make a fire and just enjoy it by yourself. I don't know. I cannot. I know some of you like
planning on doing van life and by your own and, and wonder, you know, all they're going to feel.
Obviously I'm not you. And I'm so used now to be by myself. Even when I was young,
I grew up in a very small town and didn't really have any close friends beside my parents' house.
I had friends at school, but in the evening when I was back at home, um, I didn't really have any
friend other than my still very good friend, uh, who had the shed in front of my parents' house.
And in the summer, I was spending like most of the summer with her, but I got used to like,
spend my time by myself. And I really don't mind. And when I miss social interaction,
I just phone people. I just give my friend phone call and all that. But I mean, some people are
more social than me and just, you know, like I'm in the campground and I just chat a little bit
with the guy who owned the place here because he came to chat with me. But you know, some people
just got friend like this, you know, by talking with people a little bit more. But for me, I'm
just enjoy time by myself. So this is not a problem. I really enjoy it. And I think,
I think people should learn to enjoy time by yourself. I think so. Because if you're not
happy by your own, I think it's sad. I think it is, to be honest. And it's not someone's
job to make you happy. It should be your own thing. All right. I start going way,
way too deep right now. This is what happens when you spend time by yourself.
All right. I'm going to enjoy this little fire. All right, guys. I think I'm gonna let you with
this. I'm going to enjoy the little fire and yeah, go to bed early, I think. And tomorrow
I'm probably going to bring you along to drive. And I think it's going to be nice with the
mountain and all that. So I'm looking forward for that. I was kind of waiting that the big
cloud of today would pass. And so I think tomorrow it's going to be a nice, beautiful
drive for that. So I hope you enjoyed this little adventure with me. I don't know what the next
adventure is going to be, but I'm sure it's going to be nice. And I will see you soon. Bye.
I'm going to let you with the fire instead.
