So you can wear these samurai as pairs, too.
I think it only took about 3-5 minutes, probably.
Beautiful! Very, very fast!
Hello, everyone!
And welcome to Let's Ask Shogo!
It's me, Shogo, and I have Harumi.
Hi!
And also, Kazu.
Yay!
Alright!
So in the past, we made a video about the differences between kimonos and yukatas, right?
And in that video, we talked that in order to be able to dress a kimono on someone,
you need at least 5 years of training to be able to apply for the test to get the national qualification.
So dressing a kimono and actually keeping it on yourself properly in good shape and good form
is also very difficult, too.
You need to train how to walk, how to move in it, too.
So I've had a lot of people asking me, like,
I wanna wear kimonos, where can I buy kimonos?
But I usually can't recommend people buying kimonos
because, again, it's really hard to wear.
It's hard to keep it on yourself properly and such, yes.
But then, do we have to give up?
We thought, no.
You actually have some options.
So today...
These kimonos are ready for you today!
Alright!
Yes!
So these, well, we don't usually call them kimonos,
but there are Japanese traditional clothes that are really, really easy to wear, yes.
So first, we'll be introducing...
This is called the jinbei.
We usually have summer festivals during summertime.
And also, this is something called a samue.
Samue were originally a kind of clothes that the monks would wear
to do their daily chores inside temples.
So this is for men.
And this is for women.
So Harumi is gonna be trying this on.
And also, at the end of the video,
there's actually something called...
Which, again, kimonos are really difficult to wear,
but this is actually just a two-piece kimono that's really easy to wear.
As easy as the samue.
So Harumi is gonna try this on and show you how easy it is.
So we're gonna be trying all of these kimonos on for you.
And if you're interested, we have the links in the description box.
You can buy these samue jinbei and the nibushiki kimono, too.
Well, that's the thing, guys.
I'm gonna start trying this on.
Yeah, let's do this.
Okay, so guys, I have the jinbei here.
So I'm gonna be trying this on.
I hope you like my fashion so far.
Gonna open this up.
All right, here we go.
We chose gray, I think.
One of the basic colors.
Definitely.
Black, gray, blue, dark blue.
Yeah, definitely.
So, I think that...
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, there you go.
Yeah, it's...
You can see through it.
I can see you, Kazuma.
Oh, really?
I can't see anything.
I can only see a stranger.
The material is really thin.
Keeps you cool during summer.
Oh, okay, nice.
It's really good.
So, let me try it on, then.
So, I put the pants on.
It's really, really short, actually.
Yeah, it's for summer, so...
And the top one over here.
All right, take that one off.
There's one more knot inside as well.
Take this off as well.
It's all like this.
And...
Well, this is kind of like the same for all types of kimono, actually.
There's, like, two places to tie, right?
Exactly, exactly.
Good.
This is it.
Nice!
This is how easy it is, yeah.
And it looks really good, doesn't it?
Yeah, it does.
It's definitely, like...
It's this simple, but it...
You can really feel the Japanese culture.
So, I really, really love the bingbei.
You know, it was, like, almost see-through earlier.
Yeah.
Yeah, exactly.
But when you actually put it on...
I have the white shirt on, right?
But if you actually put it on, you won't be able to see anything.
So, yeah.
So, this is really good.
You can still enjoy the coolness of the thin cloth.
But also, you can have, like, extra shirt on, you know?
Because you'll definitely be sweating in the summer, so...
I really like the design of these jimbei,
where there's kind of, like, this opening here.
Mm, yeah.
For the arms, yeah.
It's probably meant to let out the heat.
Yeah, the heat.
Maybe make some airflow, kind of?
Exactly, exactly.
Every jimbei would definitely have this, yeah.
I really like the design.
And there are also some pockets here.
One in the front here.
And the pants has pockets on the two sides as well.
One in the back as well.
Oh, okay.
Right here.
Yep, that's right, so...
Yeah, it's really good.
So, Kazu, you're gonna be trying out the samueh for us, right?
Yep, this is it.
I'm gonna open it up.
Have you worn samueh before?
Uh, no, actually.
This is my first time.
Right.
I've actually tried the jimbei on for, like, summer festival.
But samueh is definitely my first time.
You can open it up, yep.
Yep, this is it.
This is it, yeah.
The sleeves are slightly longer than the jimbei, yeah.
So there's two knots on this, too.
It's actually exactly the same.
Oh, yeah, yeah, it is.
Yeah, exactly, exactly.
So there's no slit on the sleeves.
This could be worn anytime during the year.
Unlike jimbei.
Like, wearing jimbei during winter would be, like, really weird.
Like, it's almost like wearing a tank top in winter, you know?
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Right, so you got the pants on.
You're just making a knot there.
And by the way, Kaz, you probably noticed there are some more of the strings near ankles, as well.
Yeah, yeah, there are.
Yeah.
So you need to actually tie that up, too.
Okay.
Yeah.
Do I roll it up, or...?
No, no, you just have to pull it.
You kind of, like, squeeze it.
Yeah, yeah.
Yes, and then tie it, yeah.
Okay.
Because, again, samueh was originally kind of clothed that the monks wore during their daily chores.
Like, cleaning of the temples, you know, and such.
So they don't want the edge of their clothes getting caught up in something, right?
So that's the reason why the samueh has these on their ankles, too.
Looks perfect.
All right.
How does it feel?
Uh, yeah, it's really light.
Yeah.
And really cool, too.
I get, you know, these are, like, the clothes for doing daily chores.
Yeah.
Because, you know, they're really easy to wear.
And move around.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, definitely.
So, yeah.
You look great in it, by the way.
Oh, really?
Yeah, yeah.
I think I'm just gonna, like, you know, go home with this.
And it looks like you also have a pocket in the front.
Just like the...
Yeah, like the jimbe, yeah.
Just like the jimbe there.
Yeah, there's two pockets on the side.
Exactly the same.
Yeah, the same with the jimbe, isn't it?
Yeah, yeah.
This one's actually good.
Can you see?
Yeah, I can see.
You can see it.
This is probably the small bag you can put, like, your wallet.
So valuables and your belongings.
And put it all inside.
And then there's two strings, so you can just strap it up.
And then either hold it, maybe put it through your wrist.
Looks really good.
It is, yeah.
So these are samui as well, Harumi and I.
These are actually denim.
It's just like jeans, you know?
Yeah.
And the texture of the material is really, really good.
Feels really nice, soft and comfortable.
But also seems really strong, too.
Yeah.
So this is for women, I think.
Yeah.
So you can wear these samui as pairs, too.
Couples and husbands and wives can wear it together as well.
Where the pockets are four in total?
Two, three, four.
That's right.
Four in total.
Exactly.
One in the back there as well.
And the colors are a little bit different, though.
So Harumi is wearing a blue one.
I'm wearing a black one, yeah.
Where it's three colors in total, exactly.
What's interesting, though, is that mine doesn't have the string in any part of them.
This is just, like, I think it's a band, though?
The rubber kind of?
Yeah, exactly.
And you don't have to, like, tie it.
Which is really convenient, actually.
Yeah, it's really nice.
Actually, the one samui has the string here, but the men's one doesn't.
So this is really nice.
Stronger material.
Nice design, both men and women.
Very good.
Good choice.
Wear this forever.
Do we wear this forever?
Okay, good.
So then, Harumi, you're going to be showing us the nibushiki kimono,
the two-piece kimono for us, right?
You have something on already?
It's really easy compared to a real juban.
So your hand can, like, go through.
Because the back of your neck there needs to be pulled backwards for women, exactly.
Okay, along with the kimono.
Perfect.
So you're going to wear that over the juban, then?
Really nice color.
Yeah, it is.
Show us, show us.
So there's really just two pieces.
So this is the top one.
Oh, that's what it's like.
Okay.
So you're going to put the skirt part on,
but you have to cut the string there, right?
Oh, okay, so you have to cut that off before you put it on.
Not just kimono, but also for, like, suits.
And, like, sometimes you see newly graduates with this still on,
so you kind of know, like, oh, they're not used to it.
Yeah, yeah, he bought it, like, yesterday or something.
Oh, really?
And it's not expensive.
Because for regular kimonos, if it's, like, made from silk,
you have to take it to professionals to wash it for, clean it for you.
Okay.
The inside is actually really good.
Like, the color is really bright.
I've seen a lot of people wearing kimono,
but this is the first time for me seeing this Nibushiki kimono myself.
Part of your waist where you're tying right now,
it doesn't matter how it looks, right?
It's going to be hidden.
Exactly, it just needs to go through the holes.
So it's, like, easier than the yukata, then?
Exactly, yeah.
That's why, because yukata needs a belt,
and you need to practice, and you need to be able to tie it properly.
Okay, so this is the top this time.
This looks really simple as well.
Oh, that looks nice.
Oh, a little bit thicker then.
Thick and wide, I guess?
Oh, nice!
It's amazing how you can, like, do it by yourself, isn't it?
Exactly, exactly.
That's great, that's fine.
I think it only, like, took about three minutes, probably?
Yeah, just to wear the outside.
I mean, how long would it take for you to wear kimono once,
for you, like, training for a few years now?
Yeah, 30 or 40 minutes to wear a proper kimono.
This only took, like, one tandem bath.
That was really fast, and it looks really nice too.
Exactly, exactly.
We'll show you on the screen of all the other designs.
There's, like, 12 to 16 or something.
Yeah, you can choose from so many different types.
Oh, exactly.
Oh, okay.
Nice.
Perfect!
So, everyone, thank you very much for watching this video.
Before we end, we actually have got a kimono for Nagi,
we just wanted to show you that the babies can wear these too.
This is really easy too, right?
She just wore it over her head, and just a few buttons,
and babies can wear these hakama.
Just for, like, regular clothing, yeah.
We just wanted to show you this at the very end.
So cute.
Oh, she looks happy.
She's smiling.
Oh, she's smiling.
So, all the types of kimono that we introduced today,
