In this painting, I create a forest scene, of my own design, but working from a few references. New Zealand is covered with an incredible temperate beech forest. These old trees gather and form an open under-story, allowing for the light to filter through.

This video shows my process for blocking in, modeling and then creating a dynamic sense of texture, bringing the forest to life!
