Vivaldi La Cetra 12 Violin Concertos 1080p 30fps H264 128kbit AAC

While La Cetra may not enjoy the same level of fame as some of Vivaldi’s other collections, such as La Stravaganza or Il cimento dell’armonia e dell’inventione, it remains a treasure trove for the discerning listener. Composed towards the end of his career, these concertos demonstrate Vivaldi’s continued strength as a composer, though they are less daring than those in Op. 8. The fast movements often carry a vocal influence, with abrupt returns to the tonic after brief modulations, resembling the structure of a da capo aria. The slow movements shine with moments of cantabile expressiveness. The collection as a whole offers a glimpse into the Classical period, with elements such as the pizzicato section in Concerto No. 10, which would later be embraced by composers like Haydn in his symphonies.

An addition to Guglielmo’s ongoing cycle of Vivaldi’s complete works, this instalment presents the 12 violin concertos of Opus 9, collectively known as La Cetra. Dedicated to Charles VI, Holy Roman Emperor of the Habsburg Empire, these concertos showcase Vivaldi’s trademark virtuosity and melodic brilliance. Much like his previous concerto cycles—L’Estro Armonico, La Stravaganza, and The Four Seasons—La Cetra is filled with dazzling solo passages and vibrant, lyrical melodies. The vocal Italianate style is evident throughout, offering a foreshadowing of the Classical style that would later emerge with the First Viennese School.
