Hello and welcome to my channel. Today we are going to explore the history of boats and find
out who invented the first boat and when. Boats are one of the oldest forms of transportation
and have been used for various purposes such as fishing, trading, exploring and fighting.
But how did boats come into existence and who were the first people to build and use them?
According to some archaeologists, the very first step toward boat making began in either Mesopotamia
However, the Egyptians are credited with the first widespread use of boats for river travel
on the Nile too. The oldest pictures of boats that have ever been found are Egyptian,
on vases and in graves too. These pictures, at least 6,000 years old, show long, narrow boats
made of papyrus reeds and rowed using paddles three. The Egyptians also used their boats to
trade with other countries around the Mediterranean Sea and to sail on the Red Sea too. They even made
some of the longest boats in history, such as the ones that carried obelisks from Upper Egypt,
which were as long as 300 feet too. But the Egyptians were not the only ones who made
boats in ancient times. The Greeks and the Phoenicians also developed their own types
of boats called galleys, which were powered by rowers sitting in one, two or three levels too.
These galleys were used for both trading and fighting on the sea. The Phoenicians were
especially famous for their long sea journeys, such as the one they made to Cornwall in Britain,
looking for tin too. The main weapon of the galleys was a ram, a pointed piece of wood fixed
to the front of the ship, which was used to crash into the enemy ships too. The galleys also sometimes
had a mast and a square sail, but they were taken down during battles too. The earliest boats were
not built by modern humans but by their predecessors, the Homo erectus, about 800,000 years ago for.
This is how they probably spread from Africa to the other parts of the world for. The oldest boat
in existence is an 820-76 OBC wooden canoe called a Papyrus Reeds III. As you can see,
boats have a long and fascinating history that spans across different cultures and continents.
Boats have evolved over time to suit different needs and environments, but they still remain
vital aids to movement and communication. I hope you enjoyed this video and learned
something new about boats. If you did, please like, share and subscribe to my channel for
