Hello, friends!
August 21, 1911.
In Paris, the capital of France
It was Monday morning.
There was a lot of activity.
People were going to work at their offices.
that suddenly,
Three men come out from the Louvre Museum.
They had spent the previous night inside the museum itself.
And now it was in their hands,
An important exhibit at the Louvre Museum,
Fleeing while hiding him inside a blanket.
Going to the railway station nearby,
The whole world was unaware of this.
They have just stolen a painting.
And this is no ordinary painting.
This is the most famous painting in the world.
The Mona Lisa.
The value of this single painting today,
In today's video.
The painting of Mona Lisa was created in the year 1503.
By the Italian artist Leonardo da Vinci.
And what a remarkable man this elder brother was!
You won't believe it.
Because this is not just a painter,
Moreover, he was also an engineer, scientist, sculptor, architect, and theorist.
They had knowledge of so many different subjects.
Whether it is painting, cartography, astronomy, anatomy, botany,
A whole separate video could be made about their lives; instead of talking more about them, let's move on to Mona Lisa.
which was the most famous painting created by them.
But whose painting was this?
The first revelation regarding this was made by an Italian artist named Giorgio Vasari.
Those who wrote Leonardo da Vinci's autobiography in the year 1550.
According to Vashari, this woman was Liza Ghirardini.
Her marriage was to a silk trader residing in the city of Florence.
Francesco Giambono stated that Francesco had commissioned the painting for his wife.
And from this come the two names of this painting.
The first name that we all know is Mona Lisa, which comes from Madonna Lisa.
In traditional Italian, the word "madam" is expressed as "madonna."
So "Madonna Lisa" meant "Madam Lisa," and "Madonna" was shortened here to "Mona."
Mona Widi double N, and when writing this in English, an N was dropped, and thus it became Mona.
So Mona Lisa still matters today, Madame Lisa or Lady Lisa,
And then comes Mona Lisa's other name, which is La Gioconda.
After her marriage, Leija Gerardini became Leija Giocondo.
And an interesting thing here is that in Italian, "Jocondo" can also mean "light-hearted" or "cheerful."
I mean, the Mona Lisa, and even today she's quite famous for her smile.
That's where the name came from, La Joconde.
In French, the word "Mona Lisa" is written with a "J," something like Jocondo.
That is precisely why, if you ever go to the Louvre Museum in Paris and see the painting of Mona Lisa,
So in French, it will be written as La Joconde.
The difficult truth is that even after the revelation in 1550, people were unwilling to accept that what Vasari had stated was true.
Several theories began to emerge suggesting that, in reality, this woman was someone else.
Some people said this was Leonardo da Vinci's mother.
Some said it was a painting of a queen in the Italian aristocracy.
The most fascinating theory I've come across is that Leonardo da Vinci depicted himself in this painting.
This painting is not of any woman, but rather a painting by Leonardo da Vinci himself.
This theory was promoted by artist Lilian Schwartz in an article in 1987.
They tried to show similarities using digital tools.
In the likeness of Leonardo da Vinci himself and in the likeness of Mona Lisa
Actually, if we go by this logic, similarities can be shown between any two faces by simply placing one above the other.
But today we can say with considerable certainty that the woman depicted in this painting is none other than Lisa Gherardini.
A professor living in Florence had conducted research on this subject for 25 years and unearthed archives from Dehradun.
And in 2004, they obtained clear evidence to prove this matter.
It was also found that a close relative of Leonardo da Vinci's family was connected to the family of Francesco del Giocondo.
Sati's records also revealed that Leela's marriage was registered on March 5, 1495.
When Lisa was 16 years old and Francesco was about 30 years old
They discovered that Kilianado Duvintshi's father and Lisa's husband knew each other very well.
And it might be possible that the task of commissioning this painting
It was not Lisa's husband's door, but Leonardo's father's door that was knocked on.
According to Palanti, when this painting of Mona Lisa was created,
At that time, Lisa was 24 years old.
Two reasons are given for creating this painting.
The first year was 1503, when Francesco and Lisa bought their own home.
Or the other one, December 1502, when their second son was born.
This second reason seems more probable because, three years earlier, in 1499, Lia had lost her daughter.
If you look closely at this painting now, you will notice that a veil seems to be draped in Lisa's hair.
Many people refer to this as a "morning whale," meaning a curtain that is hung when someone in the family has passed away.
Another question that arises here is, if Leonardo da Vinci was Italian and Mona Lisa was Italian, then what is this painting doing in France today?
The situation is such that in the years 1515–16, the King of France, Francis I, invited Leonardo da Vinci to come and live in France.
Due to this, Leonardo da Vinci relocates from Italy to France, taking along this painting of Mona Lisa.
Historical records are unclear on this matter, but it is said that Leonardo da Vinci had still not completed this painting.
Even 15 years after beginning the painting, they were still working on it.
We were trying to further modify and improve it.
Meanwhile, during the years 15 to 19, Leonardo da Vinci, who was residing in the king's palace, also passes away.
And the king keeps this painting for his royal collection, right with him.
Around 150 years later, in 1797, during the French Revolution, this painting is removed from the king's palace and placed in the Louvre Museum.
The interesting thing is that, precisely for this reason, the Mona Lisa was stolen in 1911, which I mentioned at the beginning of this video.
The mastermind behind this theft was Vincenzo Peruggia, who stole the painting together with two friends.
And they were Italian nationalists.
They believed this painting should belong to Italy, not to France.
So they steal it and take it to Italy.
Stealing such a famous painting would be a very risky endeavor.
Obviously, after this theft, Vinchengo certainly won't be feeling safe at all.
But first, let's understand the uniqueness of this painting.
Why is she so special, after all?
The first thing to note is that Mona Lisa was not painted on paper, canvas, or fabric.
Rather, it has been painted on a poplar wood panel.
At that time, this type of wood was a favorite among Italian painters.
The second thing is that, well, this painting isn't particularly large in size.
Look at these photos; in the museum, you can see the size of this in comparison to humans.
This is a painting measuring 77 cm x 53 cm.
Yet it is still regarded as so special because, in its time in Italy, it was the first of its kind.
The person who is focusing so closely on him.
This is a half-length portrait. Shots of this type are very common in photography today.
But at that time, no one was creating paintings in this manner.
You'll see the over and the color grading of this painting
Many brown and yellow colored sheets will appear.
It looks quite like a coffee stain painting.
This is such a yellowish hue that at one time, a professor once said
But between them, there are two reasons.
First, a layer of varnish has been applied over this painting.
So that moisture does not have a bad effect on this painting.
Because after all, this car is a painting made on wood.
And the second thing is that overtime, bleaching has been observed here.
Originally, when this painting was created, it used to be even brighter and more colorful.
Some people tried to recreate it.
Da Vinci used a very special painting style in this painting, known as sfumato.
Technique of blending.
As you see the background, a landscape is visible in this painting.
In that background, there are no clear boundaries or outlines in the Mona Lisa.
Some of Mona Lisa's hair is burning in the lantern's light.
Outlining and blending colors—that is the technique of Swumato.
And that is the secret behind Mona Lisa's mysterious smile.
Look at Mona Lisa's smile with contemplation.
The more you look at this smile, the more this face will begin to appear serious to you.
But look into Mona Lisa's eyes.
Suddenly you'll notice how much Lisa is smiling.
Whether you look at the painting or any other part, whether it's the background or otherwise
Whether Mona Lisa has four heads or two eyes, you'll see the effect.
Lisa's face lights up with a smile the more you stop focusing on her smile.
Da Vinci spent the most time creating that smile.
They spent several nights in a hospital in Florence, where they would go to strip the skin from dead bodies.
How do smiles and smiles arise from the muscles and nerves inside the face?
He had written in one of his books,
Those who do not focus on creating themselves, on themselves, when they are in the process of becoming.
They compared human expressions to the faces of horses.
They write that in the notes.
In the history of art, no other artist has dissected the form of a horse and a human being like this.
These experiments will be conducted.
Mona Lisa's smile has not yet come to an end here.
After that, they also started researching optics.
They found that the light rays that exist are
You're here looking at it, and Mona Lisa is over there.
Even if your attention is not on Mona Lisa,
Even then, the effect of her smile reaches you.
When you look closely at a smile,
That is why when you look at the rate of smile,
It seems she isn't even smiling in the picture.
But the second layer, created through Swumato technology, which has been used to make the shadows,
An effect is created through them such that whenever you look anywhere else,
Then, in your peripheral vision, that smile appears, and its shadows flicker.
And then you think Lisa is smiling.
How would you feel upon hearing me tell you that there are not just one, but two paintings of Mona Lisa.
This is not a conspiracy theory; it is the truth.
Another painting, similar to the one we all know as the Mona Lisa, was also created around the same time.
The story of this second Mona Lisa begins in the year 1504.
When another legendary artist named Refael created a rough sketch using pen and ink.
This sketch looked something like this, and if you compare it to the Louvre's Mona Lisa, a very big difference becomes apparent.
Two columns are visible in the sketch behind Mona Lisa.
Researchers believed that Raphael must have drawn this after seeing the actual painting of Mona Lisa, so there's nothing particularly significant about it.
However, this theory was disproved in 1993 by a German art historian.
And Professor Palanti, whose name I have mentioned before, who has been researching the identity of Mona Lisa for 25 years,
They confirmed that Rafael actually stayed for a while in the city of Florence, right in front of the condo family's house.
So does this mean that Raoul painted his own painting, with the same subject, placing the same woman in the same pose, which seems quite unbelievable.
Another possible answer to this question is that another painting of Mona Lisa exists, which Rafael saw and used as inspiration for his drawing.
And this second painting of Mona Lisa appears before the world in the year 1914.
John R. Irwin, a naval officer living near London, had a new version of the Mona Lisa.
Here is the new painting of Mona Lisa.
The very painting on which Rafael based his drawing.
This is the second Mona Lisa, which is 3.5 feet taller and 5 feet wide, kept at the Louvre.
If you compare these two paintings, three things become apparent.
First, the woman in this new Mona Lisa appears younger.
Second, in this new painting, the head is slightly tilted forward.
And third, the expressions of this new Mona Lisa are very straightforward and clear.
There is nothing mysterious about her smile, unlike the enigma surrounding the Mona Lisa at the Louvre.
The two columns visible in the background were also visible in the Rafel drawing.
Taking all these factors into account, experts propose a new theory.
Both of these Mona Lisas were actually painted by Leonardo da Vinci.
But the Mona Lisa that was later discovered, the one with the oil worth, was the first version of Leonardo da Vinci's painting.
And that is precisely why, in that painting where Mona Lisa appears, her face looks quite youthful compared to the other Mona Lisa.
This is a theory that remains a topic of debate to this day.
In 2010, the Mona Lisa Foundation initiated an investigation into the oil-on-wood Mona Lisa, aiming to trace its origins, and they developed another theory.
They stated that the face and hands of this new Mona Lisa were painted by Leonardo da Vinci himself, but the background was created by an inferior artist.
Perhaps there was someone working in Leonardo's workshop who finished the task of completing this painting.
Both of these theories remain purely theoretical to this day, as no solid evidence has been found to support either side.
If we return to the theft of the Mona Lisa, it turns out that the mastermind behind this theft, Vincente Perugia, was an employee at the Louvre Museum.
One day, they quietly go to a corner of the museum and spend the entire night there.
After that, Suha steals the painting and runs away.
They believed that Leonardo da Vinci because he was Italian
This painting should be in an Italian museum.
As soon as news of the theft breaks, headlines around the world explode.
Fifty detectives are assigned to this case.
For two years, Perugino kept this painting hidden at his home.
They are thinking about what to do with it.
The entire world is searching for it.
Finally, they try to sell this painting, now that it has become a masterpiece.
An art dealer living in the city of Florence is attempted to be sold a painting.
Giovanni Poggi.
Giovanni becomes suspicious and confirms by looking at the stamp stuck on the back of the painting.
This is the stolen painting.
These are being sold as the world's most wanted items.
For this reason, the vintners are caught and receive a six-month sentence.
The painting is taken back and placed again in the Lubom Museum.
January 4, 1914
This painting is kept right here on today's day.
Behind a bulletproof glass
In strictly climate-controlled conditions
Where humidity is maintained
50% plus minus 10% temperature
Strictly maintained
18 to 21 degrees Celsius
Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this entire story is
right after this theft
You heard it right
Mona Lisa was not such a famous painting before the theft.
Those who were interested in art
They knew about the Mona Lisa.
But the general public did not know that
What is Mona Lisa?
So on this day
If you ever go to Lower Muzium
Looking at the painting of Mona Lisa
And everywhere around, crowds are visible everywhere.
So for this popularity
Blame goes only and only
