Punch the Monkey Climbs to the Alpha s Side And Everyone Freezes

Punch the Monkey just did something no baby Japanese macaque should ever dare. At Ichikawa Zoo, while the troop watched in silence, young Punch climbed straight to the side of the Alpha male.
Why did everyone freeze? In Japanese macaque society, rank is strictly inherited through the mother, not the father. For a juvenile like Punch to sit so close to the throne is a direct defiance of nature’s laws.
Was this pure confidence, a hidden bond, or is Punch already showing the heart of a future leader?
