Bentley DNA Art of Arrival

When a Bentley arrives, everyone notices. Turning heads, commanding attention and transforming
turning up into an art form. As it approaches, it captivates. As it departs, it leaves a lasting
impression. Even the graceful entry and exit of passengers becomes a performance in itself.
Effortless, poised and dignified. Timelessly elegant and iconically designed. A Bentley
turns heads on arrival and departure. You know, not all brands offer their customers the opportunity
to arrive in style and therefore not all brands are focused on the art of arrival and therefore
not all brands think about it from, you know, the inception of the vehicle, how that will be
for our customers. So I think that's probably quite unique. So the art of arrival is about the
feeling that you have as a Bentley driver and the perception you create in others when you arrive
at your destination or when you leave. It's a unique Bentley expression
of understated luxury that others would perceive and that you would experience yourself.
So this is really important to Bentley because we have a very long heritage
of arriving style expressed through different models over the generations. And it's our
responsibility to continue with this in all of our products as they are in the design phase and
developed. Very early on in the development process, we consider the experiences that we
want our customers to have and we identify the kinds of technical solutions and systems that
would deliver that kind of experience. Some of the physical elements around the geometry of the car,
so the size of the door apertures, the lengths of the doors, the ability for seats and columns to
move out of the way, the ability of the vehicle to rise and fall to enable access to the vehicle.
Talk a bit about some of the experiential elements. For example, the lighting and the
illumination creates a kind of ambience in which you want to get into this. It's illuminating a
in a way that makes it attractive and appealing and that everyone would either want to get into
the car or would be peering on with some level of envy as to the experience that the Bentley
owner is having. There are also the, let's say, the more driving related elements of
arriving and departing. So headlamps and taillamps are signature Bentley. They're unique.
They're a complete expression of the brand. Of course, the iconic Bentley B is designed in a way
to kind of herald your arrival as you arrive at your destination. And of course, the engine
sound is uniquely Bentley. Whether you're arriving or departing, you know in advance or after the
engine that it's a Bentley that's in this location now. I was part of the team that delivered the
Flying B. I see or have seen how much passion and engagement and motivation and pride have gone
into the Flying B. And for me, that is a symbol of the rest of the car. I work with many, many
talented people at Bentley. Everybody comes to work every single day with passion and motivation
and drive and pride. As engineers, we're constantly faced with problems. But with problems
comes innovation and we're generating new ideas. And the Flying B certainly gave us those challenges
but also allowed us to be creative and innovative to be its own little event.
So when the Flying B is deployed or stowed away, we wanted that to be an event in itself.
We wanted it to be majestic. We wanted to have the wow factor for a customer to view
and witness as they get in and out of the car.
