Joe (Brad Pitt) and Susan (Claire Forlani) are talking about marriage and taking care of your lover. He tells her he likes her a lot and she does too. Then they say goodbye and leave in opposite directions. However, they keep turning back to watch the other. At one point, Joe stops in the middle of the road and gets hit by a truck.
