Wang Chuqin vs Felix Lebrun | World Cup Macao 2026

This is their 7th faceoff and the young Frenchman is still looking to make a breakthrough win against the best in the world. Felix Lebrun of France now faces the only remaining Chinese in the men's division, the best in the world, Wang Chuqin. Out of those 6 previous matches, Felix never won a match against Wang Chuqin. With the pressure on and the stakes high, can Felix make a miracle? Let's find out. Wang Chuqin is forehand orientated, Felix is fairly backhand orientated, so Wang's going to play it into that crossover. These two are just too fast. It's nice seeing Felix Lebrun improving his forehand attacks. He is better known for his fast backhand flicks. That's good, he's going to have to wait until he's ready. Just look at those sidesteps. They are moving like Usain Bolt. Those scores and that edge ball while ago is such a precious point. Felix is just fighting and even Wang Chuqin is getting astounded. Great forehand attacks by Felix. Close and closer and the thrill keeps on building. Attacking the middle of Wang Chuqin to end game 1. A miracle indeed. Or was that pure skill? What is happening here? The World Cup is something else. This is like the Olympics of this sport. The pressure and thrill from the audience is too high. The forehand of Felix really has improved and it has improved a lot. This is a problem. When it comes to rallies, Wang Chuqin is just better especially mid to far distance. Felix needs to avoid this if he wants to win. He got the lead but Wang Chuqin just keeps on getting better if he is challenged. And Wang Chuqin is demonstrating how to close a big gap. That net was unfortunate but to come back from that big lead, well Felix needs to do something about this. That backhand of Wang Chuqin is just pure art. This is in Macau and the majority of the crowd are with Wang Chuqin. Even the national team is here. I can even see the legend Wang Likun with Yuan Lixin and lots of Chinese superstar in full support of the world's best. Tied at 1, can Felix grab another win despite being in the opponent's territory? Even the camera shaked because of that. The last play touched the net and that rally could have extended but wow! Felix Lebron is loving this matchup. I am a big fan of both of these two and I feel like I want the young one to win this game. I am a Wang Chuqin fan as well. Even bought his expensive blade but I don't know, I just love the tense energy of these two. Who do you want to win? Surely, the law of averages says that. As he did, would still be strong favorite. Consecutive errors here by the young Frenchman and Wang Chuqin just keeps on closing the scores. Can he end this? Comeback denied. One more point and it could have gone to a deuce battle but that slow spinny backhand attack just saved the day for Felix. Pure entertainment and thrill, Felix now leads 2-1. What a great rally and play but the camera angle from above is just pure diabolic. You can't even see the art of table tennis in that angle. Wang Chuqin was challenged and he is now putting his full power in his third ball attacks leading big time. Can Felix try and do a comeback as well? Slow ending, Wang Chuqin just flicked that like a maestro. You gotta love the angle and speed of Wang Chuqin's backhand. With this, we are now tied at 2 and this is best of 7. One of them needs to win 4 games to be able to advance to the quarterfinals. Well, a bit of delay here and the yellow card was given. The throw was too much. Wang Chuqin challenges the serve and he won the challenge. The throw angle was greater than 30 degrees which is prohibited by ITTF. Easy point there and the thrill just keeps on building. The bench of China is scary. Just look at the people standing every time Wang Chuqin wins a point. They needed to boost Wang Chuqin as he is the only Chinese player remaining in the men's division. Could have just flicked that Felix. Wang Chuqin now leads 3-2 and seems like the young Frenchman is very tired. This is game 6 and Felix needs to win this or this will be the end of his run in the World Cup. Early game and Wang Chuqin is just owning Felix right now. He needs to chill and refocus. Do not play safe. Just play like you normally do. A short touch return. That was actually a good return but Wang Chuqin is just showing how to do short touch flick. He is a master of this. Wang Chuqin now takes the game point and he is just one point away ending the hope of Felix. Can Felix make a miracle? That was pure art. Magnificent. Either way what a match. This match is just pure art. This is one of the most entertaining face off I have ever seen in the World Cup. This was well played by both Felix and Wang Chuqin. This is beautiful. Good match and good watch. Congratulations to Wang Chuqin and he will face Darko in the quarterfinals. Felix did a pretty job in here. He nearly beat the world's best.
