Hello! Welcome to my channel again. Today we have an exciting video because I am going to
a football match. This is the local team where I live and in England we love football so I wanted
to take you along with me. Okay, here we go! So I wanted to give some context before the vlog
starts. So we will watch a match today between Leighton Orient and Wycombe Wanderers. This is
the team Leighton Orient. This team is my dad's favourite team. They are the second oldest
professional team from London in the football league and currently they are in league one.
So in England you have the premier league, then the championship and then league one,
then league two, then the conference, then all of the other teams. So Leighton Orient,
they are a good team. They're not the best but they are good and this is their rival team. So
today it's against Wycombe Wanderers. Hopefully Leighton Orient win. They really need to win
because there are 20 teams in the table and Leighton Orient I think are position 15,
16. So they need to win really. Fingers crossed. Okay, now let's return to the vlog.
So first I need to finish getting ready. I had a shower already. I had some breakfast.
I went for a run and now I need to put some makeup on, finish getting ready and tidy my room
because it's a bit of a mess. In the background maybe you could hear some music. My dad loves
putting music on really loudly. Here is his record player and on that day he was playing
Gabrielle. Okay, makeup on. Now we're basically ready to go. So I'm going to go downstairs
and then we will go to the match. Here is my dad and here we are on the way to the match.
It was a beautiful sunny day and here I am walking. This is the station near my house.
It's absolutely beautiful. England has the oldest metro system in the world and I think
that's why the stations are so pretty. This is the central line and I love the colours
of the train cars. Then before we arrived to the stadium they actually had a fan zone that day.
So fans could go to this area, order food, speak to players. Even the mascots were there and
they were dressed in these big outfits. I even got a picture with them. My dad was very happy
and yeah it was a nice atmosphere and the weather was nice. Okay, so here is my dad ordering food.
Now we are at the stadium and here is an image of the stadium. It looks really beautiful.
You can see the players preparing for the match. They're running from one side of the pitch to
another side and here are some more close-up shots. The Leyton Orient team is the red team
and the blue team is Wycombe Wanderers. So we want the red team to win today.
Here you can see the players practicing their shots on goal which is scary for my dad.
This may sound silly but in England people really care about football. For example,
football for my dad is like a religion. It's very important. If his team wins, he's happy.
If his team loses, he's sad. Is it like that in your country? Personally, I think football is a
great sport because it provides people with community, especially men. I think men often
need football to make friendships and to see each other often. So I think football
is really good for that reason. Now the players are finishing their warm-up and they are coming
inside and soon the match begins. So here are all of the people coming out to watch the match.
The atmosphere in this moment was really exciting. It was really loud. Lots of anticipation.
Here is the match program. So every week you receive a match program with information about
the players, the manager, the opposing team. Again, they are a great way to create community.
Okay, it's time for the match. The players are coming out onto the pitch. It's really exciting.
Let's go. So in the first half, Leighton Orient actually did really well. Here they are taking
a free kick. They didn't score here but yeah, in the match they played well. Then Leighton Orient
scored a goal. Woo! And my dad was very happy.
Here are the players celebrating that goal. Everyone was really happy. Then in the second half,
Leighton Orient didn't actually play that well. So everyone was worried because they thought
the other team, Wickham Wanderers, might score a goal. So it was very tense. But actually,
in the final minutes, Leighton Orient scored another goal. So we won 2-0. Here I am walking
back home and explaining what happened. Hello. So in the end, Leighton Orient, our team,
won the match. We won 2-0 and my dad was very happy. And yeah, it was a good time.
My dad, in the end, he went to drink beer with his friends and I didn't want to
stay a long time. So I'm on my way home and now I'm going to eat something and relax.
So before I end this video, I just wanted to share a bit more information about England and football
because it's such a big part of our culture. Actually, football apparently was invented
in England. The first football league was formed in England in 1888. So it's been a big part of
our culture for a long time. Obviously, before that, people played lots of different ball games,
but it became an official sport in 1888. However, the Premier League, which is now
the top league in England and arguably one of the best leagues in the world, was actually only
created in 1992. So that's about 30 years ago. Sorry, my maths is terrible. I think 30 years.
And now football, there is a lot of money in football. It's a big industry. On average,
every Premier League club is worth $1.51 billion. That's a lot of money. And yeah, I think football
in England will always be a really important thing for people. We use it to connect with our friends.
We watch football all the time. For example, in my house, my dad and my stepmum watch football
every day. They have a fantasy football league, which is where you basically play a strategy game
with your friends and see how many points you can get amongst your friends. And yeah, it's just a
really important thing here. Obviously, in May or June, the World Cup starts. I think this year,
the World Cup is across the United States, Mexico and Canada. But that will be a big event here as
well. Usually, lots of parks and public spaces are turned into areas just to watch football.
So, they put a big screen in the space and then people watch the game together. They drink beer.
They have fun. If they're winning. If they're not winning, they don't have fun. But yeah, it's a
really important social thing for us. And yeah, well, hopefully now you have learned a bit more
about football. I hope you found this vlog enjoyable. If you did, please give this video
a like. Thank you so much. See you next week. Bye!
