Edmond-Jean de Pury (born March 6, 1845, in Neuchâtel; died November 7, 1911, in Lausanne) was a Swiss genre and portrait painter as well as a graphic artist. He studied privately with Charles Gleyre in Paris and, from 1869, in Florence. He spent many years in Italy, where he painted portraits and genre scenes of local life in Rome, Venice, Naples, and Capri. Around 1882, he painted a portrait of Richard Wagner, who was visiting Naples at the time. He was awarded a medal at the 1889 Paris Exposition. His works were reproduced in numerous illustrated magazines. Many of his works are in the collections of museums in Venice, Basel, Geneva, Lausanne, Solothurn, and Neuchâtel.
