you're going to meet the most famous tour guide in the world, Captain Crazy.
Never have a dull moment with the Captain.
Nah, nah, nah.
Never.
He's just blowing flour in my face the whole time.
Welcome to Jamrock.
Day 2, 7.20 in the morning here in Montego Bay
and I'm super pumped because today we're driving to Nine Mile.
Nine Mile was the place where Bob Marley, the legend, was born.
And also his mausoleum's there so you can go see it.
You can see the rock where he used to put his head.
I actually visited there 18 years ago with my friends
when I was celebrating my 20th birthday.
And yeah, how do you get there?
Well, it's very easy.
You drive two and a half hours east.
So you pass Discovery Bay where Christopher Columbus discovered America
and you make your way south into the hills.
It's going to be an awesome experience.
I can't wait.
We're going to have lots of food.
We're going to see Bob Marley's place.
Hopefully some of his family members are there.
When I went 20 years ago, his mom was there, which is amazing.
We had some really, really nice tea.
It was great.
And yeah, so this is my place where I'm staying in Montego Bay.
What a view.
Look at that.
Beautiful beach.
You got the nightlife right here and this is called Montego Bay Club.
I'm not really worried because by the time I post this video, I'm already gone.
Yeah, it's a two-bedroom.
It's got a nice kitchen.
The second bedroom has two beds and we have a balcony like this.
Look at that balcony.
Welcome to Jamrock.
Yeah, man.
Let's go.
Two and a half hour drive.
Let's go meet with Navar.
Let's go.
Nate, isn't this crazy?
Look at this place.
We're like in a cliff.
They built this in a cliff.
So the penthouse is the lobby.
Second is the ground floor and you can walk down the stairs here.
Maybe the penthouse isn't.
Maybe it's the 12th floor.
It's one of the last floors.
No, you're right.
I think you're right.
It is.
It's at the top.
It's the top.
Let's go.
My man, good morning.
Good morning.
How are you doing?
I'm ready to roll.
You ready for Bob's?
Definitely.
This is it.
You've been?
Many times.
Many times?
It's going to be spiritual.
Spiritual.
Every time a different experience?
Ah, yeah.
Different people.
Exactly.
All right.
Let's go.
My man, tell me, what's this journey like today?
Well, today we're going to Ragland, as some may call it.
That's the birthplace of Bob Marley.
So it's approximately a two and a half hour drive from Montego Bay.
So we just left out.
And the main is we're going to take maybe an hour drive from here to Discovery Bay.
And the rest of the journey, we're going through the hills, some windy roads.
So enjoy the ride.
Let me ask you.
So when we get to Discovery Bay, there we have a view.
Is there a place we can stop?
And are we going to see some craftsmen along the way?
I'm sure we will.
Because we have to get some money, by the way.
We have to still get the money.
We need the ATM.
Where's the ATM at?
Oh, it's some craft guy up by Rearburner.
Okay.
That's close to the border of Trelawny.
And we stop at all sorts of juicy beef.
You know, we cannot stop there.
Amazing. Amazing.
He needs coffee, yes.
Will we see a coconut guy?
Yeah, I think so.
You think so?
If we see one, we should definitely try it.
We just need to get money.
That's the big problem.
Hey, guys, when you're coming to Jamaica, come with like 2K cash in your wallet.
Because this has been a mission.
I came with no money.
And ATMs don't have money.
I'm like, what's happening?
It's been nuts.
Dude, we've gone to like so many ATMs.
And then the fee is like for $260, you're paying an extra $4.50.
That's nuts.
That's crazy.
Here at the ATM.
No.
No, it got stuck.
What?
It got stuck.
It got stuck?
Yeah, my card's stuck in here.
Oh, sh**.
This is not good, bro.
We have to call.
Yeah.
It's stuck in there, bro.
No way, bro.
All right, so bad, bad situation here.
I got three different times.
I pulled out three different times.
$750 US dollars, $760 US dollars.
But it got stuck on the fourth time when I went in.
You guys watched it.
Horrible situation.
We got the number.
I'm going to call my bank, cancel that debit card.
And that's it.
I mean, I think we're good.
Got another card we can use.
So it's fine.
All right, guys, let's keep going to Bob's.
Hey, Bob, Bob.
Bob making it complicated.
He's like, dude, you're going to fight for today, David.
It's never happening again.
We got off here to get some sunscreen,
and we just found a coconut guy.
It's going to be great.
Let's get some coconuts.
He's there?
Morning.
How you doing, brother?
My man, how you doing?
All right.
Are we cutting up some coconuts?
Yeah.
Yeah?
Somebody help us cut?
Yeah.
Yeah?
Who is it?
You or?
What?
You asking me because I'm black?
No, I'm asking you because you're here.
That's the only reason.
What's happening?
I mean, I would love coal, but I want to get some cutting.
Is that possible?
In this place here, the women do it.
The women do it?
Perfect.
Let's do it.
Don't know that women are stronger than men?
Yeah, of course.
Of course.
In Jamaica, women are stronger than men.
You see, they're going to do the coconut,
but they don't just cut the coconut.
They climb up there, and they bring it down.
I know this, not because I'm Jamaican.
I know this because from New York, that's what I was taught.
Hey, she just asked me, I'm the crab guy.
The crab guy.
I'm the crab guy.
It's too funny.
This is exactly what I needed.
Look at you.
You got spray in the face, dude.
Thank you so much.
Yeah, definitely need a straw.
Thank you so much.
Thank you.
Appreciate it.
It was $15, so five each.
I paid for the guys because he wanted it to be on camera.
Too much, too much.
All right, let's go to Bob's.
Let's go.
Discovery Bay.
So green, bro.
Yeah, man.
So green.
All over Jamaica, it's green year round.
Best time to come to Jamaica.
Your opinion.
Every time.
I mean, is there any days where it's like, man, it rains for three, four days.
I mean, we do have hurricanes like you guys.
Well, I mean, we have hurricane season, but even though we're not in a hurricane season,
but we might not get any hurricane.
So, I mean, every time is.
Hurricane season literally just ended.
November, like November.
November 31st.
November 31st?
Yeah.
So November 31st is the last.
So it's not even done yet.
So we still have a few weeks left of hurricane season.
So that's how it is in the Caribbean.
You know, the hurricane season.
I'm from Miami.
I've been through a few hurricanes.
I went through Andrew 92.
It was scary.
I know a lot of these islands, like we went to Dominica.
And in Dominica, it was like they got destroyed from that hurricane.
What was the hurricane name?
Yeah, it was in 2019 when Hurricane Maria hit that it really devastated the island.
Love you, Dominica.
Oh, wow.
He's selling some stuff right here.
Look at this.
Look at the view.
See this view.
What up, guys?
How you doing?
Good?
What are you shooting?
I'm shooting YouTube.
YouTube?
YouTube, man.
Which one of the bloggers?
What's your name?
David's been here.
David?
David's been here.
Okay.
You didn't see me with the crab vendor?
Right, right, right, right.
Hey, man.
Pleasure.
This is a great view.
This is amazing.
I saw you.
You saw me, you saw me, you saw me, you saw me.
The crab was so good, you know?
I remember you were just like a month ago.
That's how you did it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Exactly, exactly.
It was tasty, you know?
It was tasty.
It's tasty.
No problem, man.
Jamaica nice still, right?
Yeah.
Yeah, man.
Peace.
Cheer up, huh?
Yeah, man.
Cheer up.
In Jamaica, no problem.
Yeah, no problem.
Just a situation.
Yeah, so two things happened to me today.
First, the ATM eats my card.
And then fourth is I forgot the batteries for the big camera.
So I have 11% of battery, and that's all we have for Bob's place.
So we'll leave that camera, and we'll use this.
And where are the batteries?
Where are they?
Yes, sir?
I'm a subscriber.
Amazing, man.
Amazing, amazing.
I watch you.
Amazing, amazing.
Thank you.
Hey, guys.
How you doing?
What do you want to get?
Just the beef and cheese, bro.
Beef and cheese?
Beef and cheese.
All right.
So what do you do?
Chicken.
Chicken, beef, and cheese?
Yeah.
And then I'll have shrimp, if you have.
Can I get shrimp?
That's it.
All right.
In Jamaica, I don't want to impose that call to your AUS.
AUS.
Do you think it's better to eat than cheese?
Jamaican change.
That's good.
Juicies.
We've done a lot of juicies, huh?
Yes, we have, yeah.
The last one was good.
How was your day?
Good?
I've had a little bit of a rough day.
Rough morning.
What did they do to you?
No, I left the batteries for my big camera and it's been a long day.
Maybe you can work on something.
Yeah, yeah.
You can work.
I'll try.
Impossible.
Impossible to find a battery.
For a Sony?
Yeah.
Maybe a GH5 would be fine.
Yeah, it's fine.
It's fine.
Whatever, let's make this documentary good.
Bob, you're challenging me, bro.
You're challenging me.
We've been to Juicies in Kingston, also Montego Bay, and now in Discovery Bay.
Some of the best patties.
Good?
Yeah, man.
We're doing this, we're doing this.
Yeah, we're doing this.
Making it happen.
Making it happen no matter what.
We're going to have to with this.
This and the iPhone 15 and we're good.
All right.
Thank you.
All right.
All right, so let's do this.
Shrimp patty.
Like this.
Delicious.
Good, and you're doing that?
Yeah.
Coco bread.
Coco bread again.
I'm a chicken party this time.
Raise the sauce.
My sauce?
Yeah.
I'll do my sauce too.
No spilling in the car.
No, no, no, no, no.
I don't want to spill anything in the car.
Get this.
Right there in the morning.
Discovery Bay.
You're creating a mystery.
I'm going to get out.
No.
Okay.
I'm going to get out of the car.
Get everything off me.
Mm-hmm.
There's something about the patties, man.
Wow.
The shrimp.
It's like soft.
Mm.
The layers.
It's like a, it's almost like a shrimp curry.
Oh, but the heat.
Sounds delish.
Mm-hmm.
So a lot of people eat in the car like this?
Mm-hmm.
Yeah, right?
In America, they especially do.
That's like the thing to do, man.
You know what's crazy?
I never eat in the car.
No, me either, man.
I just sit and enjoy it.
Definitely.
My main thing is I'm just a slow eater, dude.
It's like by the time I, I wouldn't even be like a quarter done by the time I get to some place.
That'll be the next one.
The next one, I'll put scotch bonnet.
Let's go to Bob Marley's Mausoleum in Nine Mile.
Let's go.
Brownstown.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
This is Brownstown.
It's been like 20 minutes since Discovery Bay.
And what is this?
It's a small village?
It's a small town.
Something like Montego Bay, but smaller than Montego Bay.
The market is over there.
So they might turn there or turn somewhere else.
Oh, so people got lost?
Yeah, some drivers got lost.
My first time when I was coming here, I didn't get lost because
I was driving behind a tour bus that knows the way, so I followed.
And this is the way.
So from here we're like 45 away, something like that.
Nice.
Going in the hills.
Nine Mile.
I've been to very few places twice.
This will be one.
Amazing, huh?
Came here when I was 20, Nate?
That's amazing.
It's amazing.
Full circle, man.
Life full circle right there.
It's a beautiful day.
I have the glasses on, but I can't see without the glasses.
I'm not doing the Casey.
Welcome to Nine Mile, the birthplace of legendary reggae star Bob Marley.
Look right here.
Incredible.
This is a spot you have to visit when you're in Montego Bay.
Only a, say, two and a half hour drive.
We're going to go see his mausoleum.
We're going to eat some food.
Follow me.
Let's go and see the legend.
So up here we have another new mural.
Wow, that's when he was a little older.
That's a photograph?
Like, no, but they did this, right?
Wow.
No, no, no.
That's a painting.
Look at this guy right here.
Very well-known painter.
While it's on fire.
Look at that.
He's trying him out.
He's going to stick it in and drink.
Yeah, man.
Yeah, it's a very edgy feel of heat.
Yeah, man.
Nice.
So I keep this?
Yeah, man.
I'm going to wash and wrap it up for you.
Perfect.
Yeah, man.
Welcome.
It's good.
Yeah, man.
I'm going to tell you about it in just a second.
Yeah, he's going to tell you.
Oh, my gosh.
It's good, though.
Sweet mix of alcohol.
Let me see.
Oh, you want to see me?
All right.
Perfect.
Sorry, guys.
They've been seeing me on Facebook, so I'm on YouTube.
Oh, thanks, bro.
Thank you.
Appreciate that.
Watch today's video.
Give it a...
Perfect.
Yeah.
Ready?
So $10?
Yeah, man.
$10.
And then do we wait for the next guy?
Welcome, everyone.
All right?
Yes.
We're going to wait for the tour guide here in five minutes' time.
Perfect.
Jamaica time, though.
Jamaica time.
It can be 10 minutes.
Yeah, man.
And the tour will last 45 minutes to an hour.
Respect, man.
I bet it's going to be more.
So if you guys want to get a drink, like a water, Pepsi, juice, Red Stripe rum punch,
you can get it from here.
So we are entering Bob Marley's mausoleum.
This is where his grave is.
His birthplace and his tomb.
His final resting place.
He died in...
What was it?
May 11, 81?
81?
I did my research.
This is it?
You join up with these two, so you're going to go...
Video's okay.
Let's see, let's see.
So we're in the room where Bob Marley was born.
We've got a whole history lesson on his mom, the dad.
If you don't know, Bob's dad was white from Delaware.
Bob's mom was black from here.
And he had 11 kids, a lot of grandkids.
And right now we're in, I guess this is like a hall of fame room?
I don't know.
Wow, look at this one.
Wow.
Super cool.
Huge.
Look at this portrait.
If you need these, remember.
So you could order it.
Now it's better for you.
Yeah, yeah.
Done to order.
So you order it now.
By the time we finish the tour, come back, it's ready.
You think it'll be ready in time?
Yeah.
Yeah, it's ready.
Maybe...
But it's almost ready.
As soon as we're leaving, I'll order it.
Yeah.
More than to order it when you come back.
What do you think?
Jerk lobster.
Lobster, yep.
Jerk lobster, dude.
I've never seen that.
Never seen that either.
I call it lobster, yeah?
Yeah?
Does it have anything infused?
Anything infused in there?
Yeah, it's good.
Very good.
It's good for you.
You must have to be one of the best chefs.
He'd be here infused with something.
Ah!
Come on.
This guy's making jokes all the time.
All the chefs.
Chef!
Right here, right here.
Oh, look, look, look.
Here, here, here.
No, I wanted to see this.
Oh, yeah, look.
Yeah, I just want to see.
Oh, my goodness.
Come on, come on.
Is that your clock right there?
Yes, it is.
When you come back, don't worry.
When you come back, you can't go through.
Yeah, yeah.
Don't come back.
Just order here if you want.
No worries, no worries.
He's a chef, dude.
You better go order now, and I'll see you.
You should go up there until you come back.
Hi, David.
Pleasure.
Hey, I think we're going to order, I don't know how long we're going to take up there,
but I would like to order a jerk lobster.
Jerk lobster?
Yeah.
And you?
Okay.
Yeah, yeah.
I'm good.
You're out of time.
Oh, you're out of time?
Yeah.
I need to go.
So, a jerk lobster.
Pumpkin rice?
Yes.
Alright, so we're now walking inside the Baw's Mausoleum.
His mom's also buried up here.
Pictures only.
Beyond the gate, marijuana only.
Beyond the gate, white people only.
Beyond the gate, black people only.
Beyond the gate, Rasta only.
Beyond the gate, police okay, but you on vacation.
That's good enough.
Not working today.
No sir.
What's that?
Clothes in front.
Stop.
I'm still the guy.
I came here in 2005, and it was completely different, and Bob's mom was still alive back then.
I saw like a hill, his rock, and then his mausoleum, but it wasn't like this.
This is a whole tourist setup.
Let's go up there now and see his tomb.
So here, Bob's, we're going to have some herbal tea.
This is really, really good stuff.
It's going to get me happy on the way home, huh?
Don't drink too much.
So I came here in 2005, and I did have a tea.
So it was like a group of people.
His mom was there, and they were like passing out, and we actually bought a jug, like a gallon.
It was good.
Yeah, so we're going to walk around now to see his mausoleum, and then go down to eat some food.
And this is a pure flower tour, so you can enjoy your flower.
Yes.
Sorry, what's your name?
Captain Crazy, man.
The most famous tour guide in the world.
Yeah, man.
And you're right here at Nine Mile in Bob Marley's museum, his mausoleum.
So tell me, 42 years.
What have you seen, craziest experiences?
What's happened here?
What's changed?
Well, we grow.
We keep getting bigger and bigger.
And the music and the tour of Bob Marley reach more and more people as the time goes by.
Millions of people get the tour now, and it's spreading right around the world.
Yes.
And so, in terms of what's happened, because when I was here in 2005, it wasn't this space.
There was no band, no restaurant.
You see, as time goes by and the place grows, we get bigger, so we expand.
We fix up and build up the place bigger and better for the accommodation of the visitors.
You notice people in wheelchairs come, so we have wheelchair access.
We push wheelchairs, and we are strong.
We eat, and we're strong, so we have strength to help somebody who wants to see Bob.
We respect especially those people who come in the wheelchair.
I mean, you cannot walk.
There's a walking tour, uphill, downhill, so you come to see that man.
So you are highly respected.
I mean, the boss, the mother used to be the one, the man, the brother, who started it, along with us.
You know, join them and balance it.
And were you born in Nine Mile?
Yeah, born in Nine Mile and working years with the mother of Bob and the brother.
And when I realized, I didn't know that I was even my cousin until recently.
The secret revealed that the uncle of Bob is my father.
And so the mom is my aunt, and the brother who owns the place is my cousin.
So we are here.
Can I ask you one last question?
Yeah, man.
What's one thing that people who have never been here that should know what makes this place special?
One thing they should know.
Besides Bob, obviously.
Yes, one thing they should know.
Apart from meeting Bob Marley, they're going to meet the most famous tour guide in the world, Captain Crazy.
Definitely going on tour with him.
Never have a dull moment with the captain.
No, no, no.
Never.
He's just blowing flour in my face the whole time.
Cheers to that.
That tea was good, though.
Two times in Boston.
You can get a tea, too.
Thank you so much.
Let's get the food.
Let's go, let's go.
Man, I just bought some stuff here at Bob's, and I saw this one.
She's like, you don't want anything?
I was like, oh, I'll take that.
And she's like, how much?
And I was like, 40.
And she was like, oh, it's 65.
I'll give it to you for 50.
I said, let's take it.
50.
It's actually the most affordable thing I bought on the trip.
Everything else has been really more expensive.
Wow.
Dope.
And it's from Bob's.
Is that Bob's?
Yeah.
Bring money.
That's a big thing.
So bring money on this trip, because ATMs have been scarce here in Jamaica.
But especially here at Bob's, right?
Especially here at Bob's.
Yeah, bring some money, support them.
That's how they built this place, is by tourism coming in.
And I know it was really touristic, like a lot.
It almost felt like mass tourism, like people coming off the cruise ship,
and then coming straight here.
And it was just packed.
Couldn't film in most areas, but we saw where he was born, the room he was born in.
We saw his other room.
And then we went to his grave, and also his mother's grave, and the church.
Great experience.
Love the guy there.
Beautiful place.
Hey, Bob, love you.
Let's go.
So we're going to eat some jerk lobster.
First time for me.
Can't wait.
Right in front of Bob Marley's birthplace.
Bob Marley.
He lives right here.
His mausoleum is above.
His mom as well.
We just did a tour.
Let's do this.
Look at that.
This is going to be good.
I feel like I should even just go like this.
Oh, yeah.
Jerk lobster.
Jerk chicken.
Wow.
It's so good.
Sucking it.
I didn't expect to have lobster here, but when I saw jerk lobster,
it's probably the one dish I haven't tried in Jamaica.
You ever had this before?
No.
Like a jerk lobster?
No, never.
I'm having jerk chicken.
Jerk seasoning.
Mmm.
Tastes amazing.
Nice and fresh.
We had a great day today.
Right?
Yeah, man.
A lot of obstacles, but obstacle is the way.
Got rice and peas?
No, it's actually pumpkin rice.
Pumpkin rice.
Mmm.
This is like a picnic in the Caribbean.
Did it in Barbados with my boy a bunch of times.
Barbados is cool.
I like street food like this.
Was today the most memorable Bob Marley experience you've had?
Most definitely.
Well, we're here.
We're alive.
Thank you, the Lord, for this meal.
And this is mom's sauce.
What's your favorite Bob Marley song?
I think it's One Love.
It's a classic.
How about you?
Oh, man.
I shot the sheriff.
I didn't shoot the deputy.
It's an amazing song.
A lot of meaning in that song.
Every song has something, you know?
Damien, Ziggy, or who's the favorite song?
Welcome to Jamrock.
Jamrock.
That's Damien, right?
That's Damien.
That's the last born.
He never met his dad.
Oh, no?
I didn't know that.
Wow.
So we got about a two and a half hour drive all the way back to Montego Bay.
We'll be there around five.
When we get there, we'll probably go to the beach or something.
But this is what Nine Mile is made up of outside.
It's like lush green forest.
Wow.
Just go up there in the hills, meditate, chill.
Hike.
I understand the Rastafari religion a little more just being out here.
The peace.
Yeah.
You know?
It's all peaceful.
Nature.
Dude, it's nature.
It is.
So the whole time you have to honk, huh?
Yeah.
It's like turning into one lane.
It's safer for everyone.
Yeah.
Including you guys.
On the right side.
Yeah.
I think it depends on the country.
You know, like in Europe, I like to drive myself.
But in Caribbean, it's better to have a guide that knows exactly where everything is.
It just depends on what you're trying to do.
If you're with your girl and just chilling and don't really want to have a plan, then
yeah, get a car.
You know?
So this is Brown Town.
This is the big town on the way up.
After this, it was Alexandria.
Or was it Alexandria?
Yeah.
Alexandria was up the hill.
We just passed it.
This is the bigger town.
This is a tight junction.
Traffic.
We got some little places to eat.
We got any crafts?
Just deeper, right?
I mean, this town is bumping right now.
Anglican Church.
A lot of vendors selling stuff.
They got sugar cane here.
What else they got?
Went to Bob's spot.
Drank some tea.
Did some flower.
It was amazing.
Like, what a spot.
You have to go to Nine Mile.
Definitely go to Bob Marley's mausoleum.
His museum.
In Nine Mile.
Not in Kingston.
In Nine Mile.
And we're back.
This is Mow Bay.
Our view.
We're going to a restaurant called Hunger's Point.
I think it's called Hunger's Point.
Yeah.
Hunger's Point, guys.
I'm ready.
Let's go.
Indian food.
Gonna get some butter chicken.
Some chicken tikka.
Wow.
The sun is amazing.
Let's go.
Overall, Jamaica is a nice place.
It's a getaway place for you to come and enjoy yourself.
Take a vacation.
Enjoy yourself.
Montego Bay is a fun spot.
It's for partying and for enjoying yourself.
Real people.
All about love.
Once you're not mixed up in bad stuff.
All is good.
Well, we're back on the street.
We're going to eat some Indian food.
Let's do this.
And they also have some Indian infused jerk.
I bought from one of these stores yesterday.
We're going right here.
To Hunger's Point.
Whoa.
Careful.
I don't want to hit this.
Inhale.
Gift shop.
Non-stop gift shops.
Hey, I'm good.
I'm good.
Thank you.
I remember you.
You were on the crab place.
They don't want to be on camera.
Hey, that crab was good.
That's why we're back.
We need more of it.
That crab was so good.
We love the crab.
I love the crab.
I love it.
Hey, Alice.
You did good.
You did a good job for me.
My gosh.
That was funny.
I've got to come back.
I've got to go to every city in Jamaica right now.
I've got to go on a tour.
I've got to go on a whaler's tour.
Where's the restaurant?
Right here?
Right there.
Yes.
You ready?
Dude, it's like non-stop shops.
It's like the street.
Like all gift shops.
That's all we've got.
Hey, how are you doing?
Hunger's Point.
Ready?
Danny, the owner, is waiting for us.
Let's do this.
We're going to the cooking now.
We're going to the cooking.
I'm here in Jamaica to tell the real story of the Jamaican people.
And what is that?
It's a melting pot of different ethnicities.
And tonight, we're going to show you Indian Jamaican culture and food.
We're here at a dhaba.
That is a roadside restaurant.
It's exactly what we're doing here.
Hunger's Point.
My friend here, Danny, the owner is from Mumbai.
He came here about nine years ago.
Let's go inside.
I can't wait.
It's been a while.
Indian food in Jamaica.
My man.
Hey, David.
How are you?
Very good.
Yourself?
I'm good.
Thank you for asking.
Man, I already see everything I like.
It's like butter chicken.
We have Chicken 65.
What else we got?
We got Chicken 65.
We also do paneer dishes.
You know, a lot of vegetarian these days.
We also do dairy-free, which is the vegan dishes.
You know, so we've got ample of dishes in the Indian section itself.
But towards the locals, my main selling dish is the Malaysian fried rice.
They absolutely love it.
It's spicy.
Make it spicy.
Yeah.
You know, so that is one dish that we are truly proud to be serving here in Jamaica.
And so let me ask you, Indian food in Jamaica.
Lots of restaurants.
Is there a big Hindustani community?
There is a big Hindustani community.
But in Montego Bay, there are only two Indian restaurants.
In Kingston, on the other hand, we have a lot of Indian restaurants.
So Montego Bay lacks that kind of, you know, numbers of restaurants of Indians who are serving Indian food.
So you're from Mumbai.
I'm from Mumbai.
Why did you come to Jamaica?
I came here nine years ago just to work.
Just to work?
Yeah.
And later on, I discovered that, you know, my passion is towards food and everything towards the restaurant.
And I wanted to bring that street flavor from Mumbai to here.
So and hence, this is my passion project.
His first restaurant.
He's opening up a second one.
Yes, I am.
Congratulations.
Thank you so much.
I'm opening up my store soon in Miami.
So you're going to visit me in Miami.
Absolutely, I will.
We're going in the kitchen.
Today, we're going in.
My man, what are you making here?
We're making the paneer tikka.
Paneer tikka.
Paneer tikka masala.
I feel like it's David's been here 2019, 2020, 2021.
Man, I went to India five times, dude.
Five times.
Yeah, yeah.
Amazing.
Look at that.
The rice.
Yeah, yeah.
The fried rice.
Fried rice on the wok.
Beautiful.
Love this.
This is like that thick North Indian meal.
Is that butter chicken?
No, paneer tikka.
Paneer tikka.
That's more rice.
Do you have pani puri?
No pani puri?
Not yet.
I'm the gol gappa king, man.
That and biryani.
But you also don't have the biryani.
His next spot has biryani and he has naan.
But here he has roti.
He has paneer.
We got chicken.
We have creamy dishes.
North Indian.
Nice meal.
It fills you up.
No, dude.
I'll tell you.
I'm passionate about Indian food.
It's so good.
So good.
Where are you from?
I'm from Jamaica.
You're from Jamaica?
Yeah.
Born and raised?
Yeah.
I grew up in England.
Oh, in England?
Yeah.
I see.
You don't…
I show all the…
all the…
with me already in there.
With you?
Yeah.
Where?
On every restaurant or road outside there.
Yeah?
Yeah.
What?
I don't remember.
Oh, my God.
That's bad.
You know that?
You don't remember?
We're going to England to try some…
Yeah, we're going to England.
We're going to England.
In two weeks.
We're going.
Yeah, yeah.
We're going in two weeks.
Yeah.
Three weeks.
Yeah, yeah.
So much cream in this cuisine.
I'm from India.
From India?
Yeah.
Which part?
Uttarakhand.
Uttarakhand?
I haven't been.
That's one of the states I haven't been to.
UK.
Yeah, UK.
UK.
Like UP.
No, Rishikesh.
Rishikesh.
Yeah, yeah.
I mean, dude.
There's so many states.
There's 29 states.
29?
And they're huge.
29 states.
I've been to a lot.
I've been to, I think, 14.
Oh, 14?
Oh.
Yeah, yeah.
I mean, I did a lot of cities.
Almost all of them.
And one in like…
Yeah, yeah.
You know?
A lot more to see.
Yeah, yeah.
What are you making here?
Making the butter chicken?
Yeah.
That delicious Indian food.
That butter chicken straight from Delhi.
I've been to a lot of Davas.
Yeah, I'm sure.
I've been to a lot.
I'm sure you have.
I have one with a million views in Sivisagar in Assam.
Okay.
I went to a Dava.
Because the Davas up there, bro, the menus are like a thousand dishes.
Yeah, wow.
Yeah, it's like every…
Because every state, all the drivers driving through, they're serving every type of like…
Every type of state cuisine.
Yeah.
It's crazy.
And tallies from there?
Tallies.
Oh, massive tallies.
Massive tallies.
Davas are basically not set up so much, but they will give an option.
If you want it, you can get it.
Yes.
Yeah.
Not like that way.
Yeah, yeah.
It's just changing the cream, bro.
I love it.
So, I went to one outside of Chennai, a Dava.
Yeah.
And it was like 50 different chicken dishes.
We got like 12.
It was insane.
Insane.
But in Assam, we had duck curry.
Wow.
Or curry duck.
Yeah.
No, no, no.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's…
Yeah.
What is it?
Duck curry.
Over there is duck curry.
I know, I know, I know.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's duck curry.
That's the thing.
People are like getting confused here in the Caribbean.
No, in India, it's goat, curry goat, the mutton masala.
Oh, it is?
Okay.
That's the same.
You know, or the mutton Rogan Josh.
You know, we have different kind of curries and we have actually named them into different
flavors according to what it goes.
Only then we would know actually what to put it in.
Got it.
You know, over here, it's just very simplified.
Yeah.
It's just like curry.
Goat curry.
Yeah, I see what you're saying.
Once and for all.
But for us, it's handi, it's karai, it's Rogan Josh and it comes from different parts of
India.
That makes a lot of sense actually.
There's bite size pieces in the butter chicken.
Oh, yeah.
There we go.
I'm going to show you how I use my hands tonight.
I'm digging in tonight.
All that curry mixed with some of that rice and roti.
That's the Indian Caribbean roti.
Right now, he's making a roti.
The Caribbean roti was influenced from the Indian roti from Bihar.
The first people to come that were indentured labor from India came through the Trinidad
and Guyana and eventually they kept coming up through the Caribbean.
Big population here in Jamaica as well.
And I love this.
This is the best.
So, it's, look, look.
It's almost like I'd say pita but a little different.
It's not a paratha.
This is not paratha.
Paratha is different.
Yeah, yeah.
Paratha or porota.
Porota.
It's like there's too many languages, you know.
It's India.
Wow.
Hot.
Hey, South Hall.
London, I'm coming for you.
You ever heard of South Hall?
I have.
That's the mini Punjab for you guys.
Yeah?
I'm serving myself tonight.
I'll definitely take a Guinness for an extra.
Right here.
Oh, yes.
My friends, tonight we're feasting on amazing Indian food right here.
Hunger's Point.
Right on the main strip.
We're gonna have two beautiful dishes.
Butter chicken and this is paneer.
This is the paneer tikka masala.
Paneer tikka masala.
There's the butter chicken roti and the rice and that's your Guinness.
Perfect.
We got butter chicken.
We have paneer tikka masala.
People think that they're the same, but they're not.
Tikka masala is a curry dish served in a brown or spicy red sauce that originated in Southeast Asia.
And this one is a Punjabi dish that is a tomato-based sauce shredded chicken or cubes of paneer as well.
That's the difference.
And again, in the UK, this is the national dish.
And because there's so many Punjabis there and that's why we're going.
I'm ready to serve.
Let's get some of this butter chicken.
Not that bad.
Oh, yeah.
Look at that cream, guys.
Look at that cream, that coriander.
Beautiful meal.
And every Indian dish needs a little rice.
Oh, my God.
The plate's on fire.
And I got the roti.
So, the roti.
Super hot.
Right here.
Look at that.
This is how you do it, guys.
Traditional way with the hand.
Here we go.
Paneer tikka masala.
That brings back fond memories.
Wow.
Let me know in the comments, guys.
Like paneer?
College cheese?
It's the best.
Best thing coming out of India.
That's why their veggies are so delicious.
It's amazing.
Blows me away.
Not too spicy.
Now we go for the butter chicken.
Nice bite.
Look at that.
Beautiful.
You tell me in the comments.
What are you a fan of?
Butter chicken?
Chicken tikka masala?
I didn't know this, but there's 70,000 Indians in Jamaica.
So many from the states of Bihar, UP, Uttar Pradesh, Basti, Dara.
And they all came as indentured labor in 1845 to 1917.
So, a few different trips.
That's insane.
Incredible.
They also have some people from southern India, but it's a very small minority.
So, they say there is some southern Indian dishes.
Hopefully you can find a dosa out here, but I doubt it.
And this is the way.
I love Indian food, guys.
Can't stop.
Oh, bro.
I was filling up with that butter.
This is our traditional dish.
That every local enjoys it here.
It's called the Malaysian chicken fried rice.
I'm going to inform you, this is a bit spicier than our Indian food.
So, it's spicier than Indian food.
It is spicy.
Malaysian fried rice.
So, I've been to KL.
I've been to a lot of spicy places.
Penang.
Let's see how this goes.
I'm going to cut this guy.
Looks spicy.
Oh my gosh.
I'm going to pour this in.
With the egg on top.
You're saying it's hot?
Like super hot?
I love it, man.
What a mix.
Chicken, onion.
Alright, so let's try it.
Oh, it's not coming out.
So, it's almost like a pineapple guava Kashmiri chili chutney.
That's the best.
It's very flavorful.
That I can tell you.
It's not…
It's getting hot now.
But, it is very flavorful.
Every day, I go through like this.
It's like…
Yeah, everything.
Yeah, so we produce this.
Surinamese company is my partner.
Suyam Foods.
Yeah.
Congratulations, man.
The food's awesome.
Are we going to have anything else?
What do you have preparing for us?
If you like, I can get another dish for you.
If you can eat it.
Do you have any sweets?
Gulab jamun.
That's the best.
Oh, rasgulla.
This dish was actually made hunger's point.
So, before even the Indian food,
before we started the Indian food,
this was the dish that actually got me onto the map.
The Malaysian fried rice, the Malaysian noodles,
and it comes in different variations.
Chicken, straight wedge with egg, without egg,
or the loaded.
Loaded is where you get the chicken, shrimp,
and the egg on the top.
I told you it wasn't that hot.
I'm dying.
No, it's good food, man.
Good food.
Spice level?
Hottest.
5 out of 5.
5 out of 5?
Make it 6 out of 5.
6 out of 5.
I was about to say that.
He's going to go with the hottest, hottest, hottest for me.
I'll do it.
You need a beer to cool down when you're in the Caribbean.
I know some of you guys don't like it, but
I don't really give a sh**.
Hey, it's hot.
I'm hot.
Seriously good food.
I am on fire.
And this rice dish is similar to nasi goreng.
Similar.
To nasi goreng from Indonesia.
It is, yeah.
Similar.
Hey, wow.
Looking at his dish, the way he prepared it,
my mouth is watering.
You know, it's like, damn.
And you get it all looking nice.
Oh my god.
Eating all my food, bro.
There you go.
So this is our jerk chicken with some escobit sauce on the top,
and it is hot.
It's hot?
It is hot.
You think it's spicy?
It is spicy.
We have some fresh scotch bonnet.
Scotch bonnet.
Oh.
Dude, I already feel the heat.
Might be the best jerk I've had on the trip, bro.
Crazy.
The seasoning was juicy and the spice, man.
Wow.
Every day in Jamaica, eat jerk.
So good.
Indian restaurant serving a jerk chicken.
Just like this, guys.
Just drench it.
I've tried the jerk on Irish potatoes,
and I love it.
Wow.
That sounds amazing.
I love that flavor.
And I purposely add that escobit sauce on top of it
because I like spice.
So it's the ideal dish for me.
Yes, I love my tandoor and everything,
but the jerk brings out extreme flavors.
Today I tried for the first time jerk lobster.
It was good.
It was so flavorful.
You want to make it a little Indian?
Just give me some cream on top,
and that's it.
It's spicy.
It is spicy.
So here I have the last dish,
the desert semolina halwa.
Semolina halwa.
If you guys haven't had halwa,
this is almost like a bread pudding.
Here we go.
It's hot.
Saffron.
It's not too sweet, but sweet enough.
It's sweet enough.
It's not like over decadent.
I like the nuttiness of the cashew,
and you also have saffron on top.
The most expensive spice in the world right there.
They are very chilled out people.
They won't come unnecessarily.
A lot of media talks about Jamaica is this, Jamaica is that.
It's not.
Believe me, it's not.
I'm walking down this street at 2 a.m.,
nothing's going to happen to me.
All these media talks that everybody has been hearing
is that Jamaica is dangerous.
It's not.
My background, I was born and brought up in Bombay,
now Mumbai.
My dad was born in Bombay.
But his dad, my grandfather,
he was originally from Sindh,
which belongs to Pakistan now,
but at that time it was a part of India,
before the partition.
So we left our state and moved to Bombay,
and that is where we did everything,
worked hard, built money, built house, home.
And later on I felt the need that I wanted to just go out and explore,
and I came to Jamaica.
One of my cousins used to work here,
he gave me an opportunity to come here,
and I'm here, and I'm enjoying this place.
Believe me, I'm in love with Jamaica.
It's not that an immigrant would be treated differently,
it's not.
I go to downtown,
I drive, I buy vegetables like how a normal Jamaican would,
and nobody ever troubled me, nobody ever disrespected me.
This country has a lot of love to give,
believe me.
Not a lot of people understand that,
but this country gives a lot of love.
Yes, you will have to give it in return, some respect.
And everybody deserves respect.
It's not just a particular community or not,
everybody deserves respect.
In return, the country will give you a lot of love.
It has got better.
Yes, COVID, the world stopped.
It's not just about Jamaica, the world stopped by itself.
Everybody was home and nobody was doing anything
except for the work from home, whatever they could.
But after COVID, it slowly started building up,
and it has got better.
It has not reached to that level what we saw in 2019,
but it is there.
We have a good season ahead of us.
The winter is there, almost in the U.S.
Obviously, we will see much better than the last year.
Absolutely, awesome.
Thank you so much, man.
We really appreciate that.
Thank you.
Amazing, amazing.
Thank you, really appreciate it.
Thank you, bro.
Appreciate you.
Thank you.
Wow.
Guys, peace, peace, peace.
Thank you.
Peace.
Thank you, bro.
Let's do it, let's do it.
Yeah, man, that was very successful.
Today was a crazy day, guys.
Too long, too insane.
Left the batteries, the ATM took my card.
Man, my boy Miguel, he didn't make it.
Crazy.
It was just too many things went wrong, but it's all good.
It's part of the adventure.
That was our day.
We had Indian food, epic Indian food.
My stomach is full.
That's it, day two in Montego Bay, done.
I'll see you in the next one.
Look, bro, literally Bob everywhere.
What is this, House of Cigars?
Yeah, this is Ricky Famous from Jamaica.
Big enough for David, been here.
He's in Jamaica, enjoying old Jamaica, you know?
Having a good vibe here.
Ricky Famous.
Big up Vibes Cartel, the boss.
In prison right now.
Real guys, I hear that.
Moby, real team.
David, been here.
Big up yourself, you know.
David, been here, been like David Beckham, you know?
Big up yourself, David, been here.
