Do you know who the British Royal Family are? They are one of the largest traceable families
in history and the same bloodline from today can be traced back as far as the 11th century,
that's around a thousand years ago. But who exactly are the Royal Family?
One of the main members of the Royal Family you may have heard a lot of recently
is King Charles III. King Charles III, whose full name is Charles Philip Arthur George,
was born on the 14th November 1948 and he was born whilst his grandfather was King,
King George VI. King Charles III is Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip's son. Queen Elizabeth II,
who was the Queen of England for over 70 years, died at the age of 96 on the 8th September 2022.
When she died, King Charles III became King as he was her eldest son. He also had three other
siblings, a sister, Princess Anne, who was born after King Charles III, and two brothers,
Prince Edward and Prince Andrew, who are both younger. King Charles III is married to Camilla,
Queen Consort, and after King Charles III's coronation on the 6th May 2023,
she will be crowned Queen Camilla. King Charles III has two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.
Their mum is Diana, Princess of Wales. Princess Diana sadly died and later in life King Charles
III remarried with Camilla, Queen Consort, and she then became their stepmother. William,
Prince of Wales, will become King after King Charles III. This is because William is the
son of King Charles III. Prince William is married to Catherine, Princess of Wales.
Together they have three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
After his father, Prince William, Prince George will be second in line to the throne.
This makes Prince George's sister, Princess Charlotte, third in line to the throne and
Prince Louis fourth in line to the throne. However, if Prince George has any children
in the future, they will take priority over his siblings.
Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex is Prince William's younger brother. His full name is
Henry Charles Albert David. He is married to Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. Prince Harry is
currently fifth in line to the throne after his brother, nephews and niece.
In 2020, Prince Harry decided not to be a working member of the royal family
so he will no longer be called His Royal Highness even though he is still a prince along with
Meghan, Duchess of Sussex who now live in the United States of America.
Together they have two children, Prince Archie, born 6th May 2019 and Princess Lilibet,
born 4th June 2021. Prince Archie is sixth in line to the throne and Princess Lilibet
is seventh in line to the throne after their uncle, cousins and father.
Princess Lilibet is named after Queen Elizabeth II whose nickname was Lilibet.
