In a landscape of great value such as the Valle d'Itria, in Puglia, a hilly area characterized by the presence of oak trees and olive groves, stands a 150 sqm "Suspended House." The desire to preserve the integrity of the place led architect Daniele Corsaro to choose a design that would not touch the ground. The client's wish was to have a home with a strong identity tied to the territory, to express their love for nature.

The building is characterized by two horizontal cantilevered reinforced concrete slabs that float in parallel, forming a portico. This space is shaded and sheltered from the elements, offering an ideal place to contemplate the surrounding landscape.

The clients requested that the concrete structures, both internal and external, be waterproofed and protected from aesthetic alteration. To meet these requirements, the waterproofing and plasticizing additive Plastocrete® N was used, which gave the concrete greater water resistance and a smooth, uniform finish.

On the rear side, a garden enclosed by dry-stone walls creates a protected area (hortus conclusus), a more intimate space for the home's guests. The technological solutions adopted to ensure high energy efficiency standards were integrated and harmonized with the building's architecture.

The organization of the home's spaces revolves around the living area, which is the beating heart of the residence. This zone encompasses the lounge, dining area and kitchen, and is characterized by large glass windows overlooking the surrounding landscape. In this way, the house opens up to nature and invites its inhabitants to live in harmony with the environment.

On the left wing of the house is the master bedroom, which features an en-suite bathroom and a walk-in wardrobe. This room is the ideal place for rest and relaxation, offering a high level of comfort. On the right wing are the two guest bedrooms, which share a bathroom. These rooms are spacious and bright, and are perfect for hosting friends and family.

The use of local materials, such as limestone and oak wood, along with elements that reference the local building tradition, such as dry-stone walls, establishes a deep connection with the Puglian territory. The Suspended House is an example of sustainable architecture that perfectly combines the need to respect the landscape with the pursuit of high living comfort standards.
