Catherine and William's Trusted Nanny Quietly Receives a Special Royal Honor
Thanks for watching
Prince and Princess of Wales's trusted nanny quietly receives a special royal honour.
Hello everyone and welcome back to Royal Insider News.
Today we have a beautiful and heartfelt story from inside the Wales household.
A quiet but deeply meaningful moment that shows just how much the royal family values loyalty
and dedication behind the scenes. On March 24th at Windsor Castle,
the Prince of Wales personally presented a very special honour during an investiture ceremony.
The recipient? Maria Theresa Turrian Borallo, the trusted long-time nanny to Prince George,
Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. Maria received the Royal Victorian Medal in silver,
awarded for her outstanding services to the Prince and Princess of Wales.
The Royal Victorian Medal is a personal honour in the gift of the Sovereign.
It was announced in King Charles's New Year Honours list at the end of 2025 and on Tuesday,
Prince William carried out the investiture on behalf of His Majesty.
This silver medal recognises exceptional personal service to the royal family
and Maria has certainly earned it after more than a decade of devoted care.
Maria Theresa Turrian Borallo, who is 54 and originally from Spain, joined William and
Catherine's household in 2014 when Prince George was just eight months old. She is a proud graduate
of the prestigious Norland College in Bath, the world-famous training ground for elite nannies
known for their brown uniforms, impeccable manners and comprehensive child care expertise.
From those early days with baby George, Maria has been a steady, loving presence through the births
of Princess Charlotte in 2015 and Prince Louis in 2018. She has helped raise all three children
while William and Catherine balanced royal duties, official tours and their commitment
to hands-on parenting. What makes this moment especially touching is that Prince William
himself pinned the medal on Maria at Windsor Castle. Maria has remained remarkably private
over the years but her loyalty and professionalism have clearly left a lasting impression on the
entire family. What do you think about this lovely royal honour? Is it wonderful to see
behind the scenes team members recognised? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
