Alright, this is John Kohler with growingyourgreens.com, today we have another exciting episode for
you.
Today we're going to learn about whitewashing your plants, not whitewashing other people.
Whitewashing your plants, you know, this is a very popular subject, people will just go
down to Home Depot, actually I think that's where this was bought, some Bayer paint and
buy the paint on actually the rack that has like the dollar paints, because they like,
they mix them a wrong color and then you just need some kind of latex paint, because you're
going to basically put whitewash or paint on the trunks of your trees.
This is very important, this is the springtime when you guys are watching this, and you guys
are probably getting, buying bare roots at the store, new little baby plants like this
pomegranate that you're going to be putting in to your house, your orchard, wherever,
and the thing is, think about it guys, these have been like in a nursery, they're all
close together, like stacked up next to each other, and then basically the top growth gets
the sun, but then these stems don't get much sun, and then now you buy these and you're
going to plant these out in the middle of your yard, there's going to be sun hitting
it from all directions, and especially if you live in the tropics, or somewhere like
the desert like I do, the sun's going to really beat on the stems, and then that causes
excess moisture loss, sun scalds, sunburn, and it could actually kill your tree.
The good news is if you did buy your tree at Home Depot, I think they got a one year
get a refund, get another one, that being said, I don't want you guys to kill your
plants, so we have to do the whitewashing, and the sad thing is, most people use a latex
paint, which is not designed for plants, it doesn't say great to use on plants, no,
this is for your house, this has chemicals in here, and a matter of fact, if organic
growers use latex paint on their plants to protect them, then that plant is no longer
considered organic, and the fruit can't be sold as organic, so I don't want you guys
to use latex paint either, I know a lot of people online say save your money, buy the
latex paint, I'm all about using the right product for the right task at hand, and if
you guys want to whitewash, I have a product that you guys could do that, the best one
in the industry that I've found that has been around for, I don't even know, like
10 years now, has tons of testimonials and reviews online that is organic certified,
so if you have an organic orchard, you're going to keep your organic status, or if you're
just growing at home, you're not going to be putting toxins into your house, into your
pets if they lick the trees, or whatever like that, it's a natural product that actually,
I think smells pretty good too, so let me go ahead and show you guys that.
Alright guys, so if you want to whitewash your trees, use an organic product, that's
this, it's by IV Organic, and this is actually their whitewash product, and this protects
against damaging summer sunburn and winter sun scald, it's basically, the main ingredients
are like mica, you've got some clays in there, diatomaceous earth, and some other
minerals basically, and then also more importantly, the secret sauce is the milk protein that
helps it keep on the tree and stick around for a lot longer than if you just mixed up
minerals with water and then brushed it on your tree.
You know, honestly, actually I would not recommend using this whitewash product from IV Organic,
I would say save your money, because I would want you guys to use their better product,
which is basically this product, plus additional essential oils.
This one is OMRI listed, and this is the 3-in-1 plant guard, so besides just protecting your
tree from sunburn, it also protects your tree from insects and rodents, and it has a whole
host of different essential oils, that in many cases people will apply on their own
to the plants to prevent insect damage and rodents and even things like ants, because
they don't like the smell.
So I'm going to open this up and show you guys what you're going to get when you buy
one of these cans, basically you're going to get a little packet of the minerals all
pre-mixed for you, and then inside here you're going to get a little vial of essential oils.
These are like the same high-quality oils you might use for cooking, and if you open
this up and smell it, smells good to me, it just smells like essential oils.
And then all you need to do is you need to open the packet, the contents of this, dump
it in the can, this is not rocket science guys, dump this in the can, and then you want
to fill up the can with water, like fill it all the way up, and then you're going to
stir it.
Alright, so you guys can see we got it mixed up, and this is a whitewash, I would say this
is a coating, this is not really a paint because it's just got the milk proteins, and actually
originally paints were made with like milk protein or milk, they got like milk paint
in the olden days, so if you can still find some milk paint from the olden days, you could
use that to whitewash your trees, but then you're not going to have all the benefits
of the mineral protection.
I mean we know that you put like zinc oxide on your skin, it's like the natural one
without all the chemicals, that protects your skin from the sun, that's what these
minerals in the ivy organic does for your tree, the minerals help reflect the light
so that the harsh sun doesn't damage your tree, and also of course, because we got all
the essential oils, that will help prevent other pests, disease, it could even like kill
funguses and whatnot, the essential oils, right.
And this is very easy to apply, so you literally just take a brush, and then you just brush
it on the stem, and I'm not even going to be like super, just going to be all messy,
and that's alright, because that's the right coating, you don't want to put it
on too thin, I mean look, I just did one, let's just go ahead now and do this grape
here, it's a little bit easier if you take off the plant stake, and here's the thing
guys, if you don't like the white color, that's alright, because they got you covered,
they got it in other colors that are going to blend in, I mean personally, if you have
extreme desert conditions, you want to use the white, because that's going to more
reflect the sunlight and the UV, than like a darker color, but they got darker colors
so it blends in, so your trees don't have to look funky, if you have them in your front
yard with your neighbors, you could plant it a color that would actually match the stem
itself.
Alright, so besides the white, they actually got some other funky colors, like a green
or something that I wouldn't use personally, but they got basically a grayish, which is
like a gray and a beige, and then they got a brown, so depending on what kind of trunk
you have, you could get one of each to see which one's going to work, so actually this
one is the brown, so we're just going to go ahead and paint on the brown, I mean guys
this is super simple, super easy, just spread this on, it's going to go on a little bit
thick, you don't want it too thin, if it's on too thin, then you're not going to have
the protection, and it's going to wear off sooner rather than later, you could barely
tell that one has been painted, once again we used the brown, now we're going to go
ahead and use the grayish, so we'll throw the grayish on, this little pomegranate right
here, oh man that blends in so good, I think the grayish is my favorite, you can barely
tell this has even been painted, we want to get one side, then we're going to come around
on the back side, paint it on up, alright guys this is the super easiest product to
apply ever, alright guys so I want to tell you guys more about the Ivy Organic 3-in-1
plant guard, here's the thing, once you mix this up, this is not like a can of paint,
you could use it, and then you could just put the lid on it, and then you could put
it on your shelf and forget about it for a year, and then use it next spring when you
need it again, well number one you might want to protect your plants before they're going
into the winter so you don't get some of the cold damage, this will give a little bit
of protection but it's not going to make your frost sensitive plants and frost tolerant
or nothing like that, but this stuff don't last once you mix it up, once you mix it up
you activate the milk proteins and this basically has a two week shelf life, otherwise the milk
proteins will degrade and then it will not work the same, if you want to preserve this
for longer you can do that, you would basically just freeze it so the milk proteins lock in
place and won't degrade, and if you freeze it, it could last indefinitely, just keep
it frozen and make sure there's no power outages, and otherwise the thing is we mixed
up a whole can because we know we're going to be using a lot of it today, but here's
the thing, honestly you wouldn't want to mix up your whole can, this comes in a little
packet and you could just basically divide this packet in two or into four, and likewise
you'd use half or quarters of this and just mix up what you need and then in the packaging
like this, separate, not added to water, this is stable for up to five years guys,
so this is the way to keep it so you don't end up wasting the product, now the other
thing I will say is that while the company does have the products that you will pre-mix
at home, which I think is the better way to go than buying the pre-mix, this is the pre-mix,
the RTU or ready to use version, and some people might buy this and think, oh I could
just spray this on the tree, and I can spray it on the tree and boom, my stuff is white
washed, well you sprayed it on there, but I want to show you guys this up close, look
at this, I just sprayed this spray stuff on this pomegranate, you see the difference between
that spray stuff, you can still see the tree, it's not protected and if you look at over
here, this is where I white washed it with the product itself, this stuff if you buy
it in the spray bottle, doesn't properly protect your fruit trees, you could use this
on your new baby vegetables and plants to protect it because it goes on so thin, so
the reason why you'd buy this besides your new vegetable seedlings is actually you could
just spray it on the leaves of your grapes, of your fruit trees, of roses, of whatever,
and what this will do is that this will help with the slowing down the transpiration, which
is basically how the plant breathes, so this will slow it down so it's not going to respirate
as quickly, in addition it's also going to give it some protection, mild protection
from the sun as well as protect it and have a smell to it because it has the essential
oils, protect it from things like ants farming aphids on it, protect it from maybe some powdery
mildew or other things because it's got some oil content, also it's got that diatomaceous
earth in there as well, so when this actually dries up it may also help prevent other creatures
from eating the stuff up, I mean most creatures are not going to want to eat the stuff up
after they've got the essential oils in there and because of the milk proteins they're
going to last a lot longer than just mixing up a thing of water with essential oil and
spraying it on, and once again of course you could buy this RTU which is, I mean I'll
say it is easy because all you've got to do is just shake it and spray it, but I would
you guys to buy this so that you could just make 25 of these and maybe make a bottle of
this to always have around and then have this to mix up the thicker stuff, and you can save
a lot of money because, I mean I don't know why they price like this the same as this,
I don't know, whatever, buy this stuff, it's a lot better deal.
So while I got the RTU stuff you could basically mix up your own and just put it in any old
spray bottle, but once again we're going to show using this, so we just planted a tomato,
so once again you're just going to basically spray it on the tomato, you're thinking John
why are you spraying the tomato down?
So you can't even see the white paint, maybe you can see a little bit, but basically what
this does, this does not block all the cells that have to transpirate or basically breathe,
the plant breathes out it's basically leaves, I mean I'm not the super biologist scientist
horticulture dude, but basically the plant breathes through it's leaves, like fish breathe
through their gills, we breathe through our nose, maybe our mouth, it's not really supposed
to do that, but anyways plant breathes through their leaves, and when you spray this on,
it doesn't coat it so that they suffocate, that's very important, that's a big distinction
I want to share, that something like a latex or tar, if you painted it on trees or whatever,
that basically, that doesn't let the water and let them transpirate still, it cuts it
off so that you could get fungus growth, mold growth and you get a basically backup of water
in there, it gets too moist.
This still lets the plant transpire or breathe, but at a much slower rate, this is very important
when you transplant so you don't get transplant shock, think about it, if you go run a marathon
you're breathing really hard, but if you're just walking leisurely, you're breathing
really soft, right when you plant the plant in, it's breathing really hard because you
took it out of the pot, you put it in the place and it's dripping out dude, so you
put some of this stuff on, then it just like, the breathing slows, like it's meditating,
this is like meditation for your plants when you spray this stuff on, plus of course, you
can smell this now, you smell some mild essential oils that are going to protect the plant from
pests, bugs and disease, alright, so that's how you use this liquid, once again for leaves
of bedding plants that you put in the garden, roses or you know, trees or what not.
Now I'm going to show you guys an even important, better use of the thick paste or the coating
and we're going to come down to a squash here, alright, so we just planted a squash
and once again, take the product, spray it on the squash to help slow down the plant
from transpiring, of course when you're slowing down the transpiration, it's also
not going to grow as fast, but the goal is not to get this to grow fast when you transplant
it, the goal is to survive the transplant shock, because a lot of you guys may have
transplant shock, right, alright, so that's one way you guys can do it, but the even bigger
problem, especially with squash and depending on where you live, there is a bug called the
squash bug, I know a lot of you guys have had them before and a lot of you guys don't
want to get them luckily, actually I've seen some squash bugs like last year for the
first time in my garden, but this can help prevent squash bugs, so how you're going
to do this, once again, this is not the spray, this is the thick stuff you would paint on
the bark of the tree, right, you're going to go to the stem like right all the way down
to the mulch line and you're going to go all the way down and you're going to basically
paint the stem of your squashes, right, as you guys can see I'm slapping this stuff
on, you're thinking, John, you're ruining the plant, no, I'm protecting the plant man,
so I can have some squash instead of having the squash bugs, get it, put it on thick,
we don't want to go up past where all the new leaf growth is, because that's what we
got this other thing and of course the squash bugs love to eat the stems and the ivy organic
is going to protect them from squash bugs, now you may need to reapply this during the
season because this will kind of just, if you water your plants and what not, it could
wash away and that's how this is designed and when it does go into the soil, it's not
going to hurt the soil, it's not going to hurt the microbes, because basically it's
just clay and essential oils that will degrade over time, as will the casein, the milk protein
that holds it all together, alright, so we're going to go ahead and whitewash another tree,
but before I do, I wanted to talk about, how many of you guys go out onto the beach
without sunscreen, right, I mean, maybe, it depends if you're a person of color, if you're
of color, you know you have natural sun protection, but even then, when you know the ozone layer
is getting kind of worn away and you still could burn, right, most people in their right
mind would put on some sunscreen so they don't burn, right, and think about it, that's what
we want to do for our trees, trees like the citrus here, trees like the avocado here are
the two trees that are most likely to burn, if you're going to go to the beach and put
sunscreen on, you should also put sunscreen on for your trees, because that's what the
whitewashing does, look guys, it's so easy, I got this stuff mixed up, just paste this
on, you don't even got to be perfect, man, I'm like, I'm kind of messy, I mean, you
probably don't want to splash everywhere, this stuff is organic and non-toxic, so if
you get it on you, just wash it off, but look at this, just paint it right on, give some
sun protection for your trees, I mean, you guys are buying expensive trees, everything
has gone up in price, guys, you spend 50 bucks on a nice citrus tree that's tiny, you want
it to last beyond the first year, put some protection on to not only protect it from
the sun scald, but also more importantly from potential bugs and diseases that may affect
it, I mean, to me, this has a nice like cinnamon, like essential oil smell, now I want to show
you guys an avocado tree that is still here, partly because of the whitewashing that was
done one year ago, this is very important because I want to show you guys what it looks
like after one year, right, and you don't got to keep coating your trees every year
because the issue is, you know, the first year, the tree's still a baby, it's been
in the nursery, they're scrunched together in the nursery so they could pack the plants
in, the trees are just getting sun from the top, they're not getting sun from the sides,
but when you plant this in the yard, it's sitting in a pot, it's getting the sun, and
the most important time is like a baby, you want to protect your baby with baby sunscreen,
but when your kids are bigger, maybe they don't need as much sunscreen, right, so
anyways, this is what it looks like after a year, it kind of just wears off and then
you pretty much won't need to apply it to more mature trees, unless you prune them,
so actually let's go over and prune a tree and show you guys how you would use the Ivy
Organic White Wash to protect your tree after you prune.
Alright guys, now I want to show you guys how you can use the Ivy Organic 3-in-1 Plant
Protector to protect your fruit trees after pruning, so here's the thing guys, the tree
has a lot of leaves and imagine this tree is fully leafed out, like every year it leafs
out in the middle of summer where you have 16 hours of sun, that of course depends on
where you live, if you live in Iceland, you get 24 hours of sun in the summertime, very
important to protect your trees then, but nonetheless, the tree is used to getting a
lot of sun in the middle of summer and think about it, in the spring, the plant leafs out,
it makes more leaves, the leaves will basically cover the plant so that it protects the heart,
literally the heart of the tree is this bottom growth, right, we need to make sure the trunk
of the tree here at the bottom stays alive, because if this loses its life and gets sunburned,
then the tree cannot send energy up to the top growth to grow more leaves so that it
can protect itself, grow more fruit so you guys can eat it, this tree we're going to
basically just prune down because here's the thing, the thing is if you see the flower
buds, that's where the fruit is, right, there's branches that go all the way up
there that you cannot reach, so we're just going to take the pruners and literally chop
this tree in half, alright, so we took that tree down a lot, check it out, we got a trim
job, this one's too tall too, so we're taking that down, but now you can see this
is not going to have a lot of growth up top to basically shade out the bottom, so this
is when it's very important now to paint the bottom because once again, right, if one
of these branches gets sunburned, that's alright, this branch loses its life which
has happened to many of my trees, no problem, it'll just shoot out a new growth, but if
you lose the bottom, the new growth can't occur, so now we're going to take the brown
color and because once again, we removed the top growth, we're just going to go ahead
and paint on the whole bottom of this tree, alright guys, so you guys can see basically
I just got this tree painted and it blends in pretty good, once again, this is the brown
color, this is not hard to apply and aside from preventing the sunburn, also you just
made all these new cuts, you could just take this stuff and you could actually dab it on
the cuts as well, alright, this is breathable, so it's not going to shock the plant, it's
organic, this could also prevent it, you know, bugs and disease from getting in there as
well, just tapping it on and it's very important to use this stuff guys, I mean, if you want
to be safe and secure and know that you're doing everything you possibly can to take
care of your tree babies and actually this is, for those of you guys that are into fruit
trees, this is some rare genetics, this is some Ziegler genetics, some rare, I don't
know, actually I think it's a cherry something cross, like the Ziegler guy, he's got some
cool stuff available at Dave Wilson Nursery and like, you know, these trees have gone
through a lot of breeding and also they're expensive because they ain't cheap, you don't
want to lose them, so invest in a product like the Ivy Organics to protect your trees
after pruning, especially the pruning cuts, alright, now for those of you guys who want
to take it to the next level that are into grafting, this is also great for protecting
your grafts, so let me go ahead and take you back to the fig tree to show you guys how
we're going to do just that.
Alright guys, so we're here at a fig tree and fig trees are notorious for basically
getting ants, I mean, every time you basically prune, you see you could have some cuts and
this tree has not been painted in a while, it's always best to just, you know, paint
on the cut marks, so this kind of fills it up, I want to show you guys this one right
here, this one right here, check it out, this is where a cut was done so that this approach
graft could be done, but you could see this dried up and then there's a little hole in
there, right, that hole is prime for an ant or even termites to go in there, so we really
want to kind of, you know, paste on this stuff pretty thick, once again, the essential oils
will help to repel the ants, right, and once again, protecting the tree and also this is
not some bright color or white, it actually blends in quite well to the tree, so once
again, I mean, you could go crazy and paint like every little spot, you know, when spots
are big, I'd be more concerned, I mean, so look at this one guys right here, I mean,
there's like a little opening in there, right, and you could see the bark is kind of going
back and this is a part that may have issues in the future, once again, you know, all these
little parts, this is where you want to paint on, so it'd be good especially in the spring
time, right, or after you prune to, you know, get this paint on and especially like every
season go through your tree because this stuff wears off, I mean, it's designed to
wear off, it's not designed to stay on, right, this will protect your tree to protect
your investments and your fruit that's going to be coming up for this new year, so yeah,
you could see how you could do this on healed grass, very important, don't graft and then
put the paint on, you need to still use your paraffin, paratape stuff and then let it heal
and then you put this on after it's fully healed to prevent further damage and pests
and ants and critters from getting in there and it healing properly without any problems.
Alright guys, so hopefully in this episode so far you've seen how easy it is to whitewash
your trees with the best whitewash product and no longer do I want you to use any kind
of stupid latex paint that actually can harm, damage and make your trees no longer organic,
it also won't let your plants breathe as well.
The next thing I want to do, I'm going to go ahead and interview for you guys, I got
a special treat, the inventor of the IV organic whitewash product, learn more about it, why
he invented it and some of the testimonials that he's gotten over the years, the many
years from customers and how it literally can save their fruit trees and orchard.
Alright guys, so I have the pleasure of interviewing Charles Malky of IV Organics, the guy that
invented the whitewash that you guys just learned about in this episode and we're going
to ask him some questions today, so Charles, why did you invent the IV Organics 3-in-1
plant whitewash?
The, there was just such a huge need for whitewashing plants, I've been educating a lot of gardeners
for the last I'd say 15 to 20 years, my gardening passion stems all the way from childhood,
I remember age 5, 10, helping mom in the garden and then from that working with my grandfather,
got my education at the University of California, Irvine, most of my courses were botany driven,
I was on a pre-med background, was working in cardiothoracic surgery for 3 years, published
in National Journals of Surgery as well and in just my education of gardening because
it always brought me and community together is teaching gardening and I've noticed a lot
of trees we're suffering in here in the Los Angeles climate from sunburn and a new paint
from the local box store could help but for those that want to do things right, being
the organic way and to make sure we're not contaminating our gardening soil with latex
paint that's going to be there for 100 years or more since it's designed to last forever.
I just saw the need and it's basically my research from 20 years earlier in medicine
where we're encapsulating these antibiotics that can last in the body for several days
and weeks when antibiotics are usually only have a longevity of hours.
We found a way to basically encapsulate the oils that you'll find in the Ivory Organics
301 plant guard that horticultural oils again, they dissipate quite quickly but encapsulating
them will give them a life of several weeks, maybe even months, especially when applied
in the thicker brush on application.
So this hit me 20 years later after doing the research in medicine, the value I can
bring to the plants and then from there it's just been really riding a tidal wave of just
getting to know people across the country, around the world and just bringing this value
to growers, both backyard growers and commercial growers that want to bring this value to their
plants.
Wow, so I can see definitely as the climate gets warmer or changes or whatever you want
to call it, the sun gets more intense especially here in LA or even where I live in the desert
even worse or the tropics, but what about somebody that lives in San Francisco where
it's like, I mean I grew up there, foggy all the time, can this whitewash still help them?
So I mean plug in and we're talking about testimonials and stuff and as you're saying
that last sentence, San Francisco is Sloat's garden centers, there's about a dozen of
them.
I've been there, yeah.
And they've been one of our promoters of the Ivory Organics brand for at least five years
if not more and they say the primary issue and the benefit Ivory Organics 301 plant guard
brings to the plants up there is rats and rodents girdling trees.
Ah, good point.
And so they won't like that essential oil, they'll be like, taste it, this is nasty.
Specifically for those of you that know about the oils, it's the castor, the seven oils
within the 301 plant guard.
So it's the garlic, cinnamon, clove, peppermint, rosemary, spearmint, I think I got seven where
I got close, but it's the castor, the spearmint and the peppermint, those oils are anti-rodents.
So I mean, for us, it's pleasant, but for rodents, they'll stay clear of it.
So when you're brushing on the tree trunks and especially like the base of the tree in
the winter cooler months, that's usually when girdling happens across the country.
But for San Francisco, they say specifically, it's a year-round issue.
Yeah, the weather's so wild, yeah.
And the rats love it there.
All right, Charles, so we learned about how it could help with rodents, help with sunscall,
but let's talk more about insects.
What insects have you heard from all the people and that you've sold it to over the years
with testimonials, like what have you heard it helps with for insect-wise?
I mean, you could smell it and I could know, okay, that's going to repel some insects
because they're not going to like the smell, but what have you heard?
Yeah, so testimonials, I mean, I'll put out there.
Epic Gardening also share Four Winds Growers, which is one of the leading distributors of
citrus trees in California.
They use it?
They use it.
Wow, that's impressive.
And they should currently have it available on their website as well if you're shopping
there.
And just a ton, I mean, Dave Wilson Nursery, the leading distributor of deciduous fruit
trees in the country.
Tom Spellman has been an advocate of our products for, I'd say, over five years as well.
And California Rare Fruit Growers throughout the state and beyond, they all have vouched
and successfully used our products in their garden.
And then in regards to how does the products work and what's the value and the significance
of the products is, again, aside from the essential seven oils and the fact, as you
mentioned in your video earlier about, you know, if it's just mineral, like a lot of
people will say, oh, I just put limestone on my tree.
And again, as soon as it gets hit by water, you know, from the hose or with a rain, 90%
of that, it's going to wash away.
Our formula is designed to last about a year or more.
I mean, a lot of the trees you've shown here on our property that appear whitewashed has
been done closer to two years ago and they're still showing protection.
And so, I mean, the longevity is there, but the point is, as the trees are growing and,
you know, sloughing off the material into the soil, it's not latex or tar-based products
that are going to contaminate your soil and the environment as it runs indefinitely.
In regards to the value of the seven natural oils, as you've mentioned, the other ones
too, aside from the limestone, mica, and so forth, and the milk proteins, is diatomaceous
earth.
And the way that works is it's basically like a crushed glass on anything with an exoskeleton.
People say worms, diatomaceous earth doesn't affect worms because worms don't have an exoskeleton,
but your beetles and your termites and your ants and, again, anything with an exoskeleton
is going to stay clear of anything that you actually apply this product to.
So it'll offer that value to your plants.
Alright, Charles, so besides creating the Ivy Organic 3-in-1 Plant Protector, you also
wrote a book, which is this.
It's basically saving the world with the home garden.
So you want to talk about why you wrote this book and how this relates to the product that
you're selling?
Absolutely.
So the book is basically 10 chapters.
It summarizes our now over 500 videos, so you can watch 500 videos or you can read this
book, and it basically breaks down into 10 chapters a lot of the principles that I teach
from the value of mulching, the value of pruning, when to prune, how to prune, propagation via,
obviously, seeds is the common way, but cuttings is another inexpensive way to multiply plants,
in addition to air layering, other more sophisticated techniques such as grafting.
For me, that's been my number one passion, again, because I have that medical background
and I thought I was going to take a path towards going into surgery.
I just love the fact that you can combine related trees onto a single tree.
When you're demonstrating on that fig tree, that's actually a fig tree with 10 different
flavors of figs on it, from black figs and green figs and brown figs and tiger figs and,
again, 10 flavors that range from honey to berry and beyond.
So it's just super exciting that, again, in the footprint of a single tree, you can enjoy
the value of 10 trees, among other principles that we teach here on the property.
Wow, cool.
And of course, the ivy organic can help protect your trees so that those grafts will maintain
and not be an entry point for disease, pests, and whatnot.
Alright, Charles, so we got to talk about the 3-in-1 Plant Protector, basically the
best whitewash for your trees, but I know you have other products such as these guys
right here, which is basically organic OMRI-listed fertilizer, all-purpose.
You have, I guess, the Premium Blend and the Super Blend Plus, alright.
So why did you create these organic fertilizers for people?
So our whitewash products are obviously the OG for our company, but the fertilizers, I've
noticed, and maybe you've seen this in your education as well, is a lot of people, I'd
say in the 90, high 90 percentile, say that plants only need three macronutrients.
And I teach, and I even go to garden centers with the pros that are teaching gardening
to all of their customers, and they're like, yeah, plants only need three macronutrients,
and that's false information.
And so this fertilizer that we've basically formulated with several ingredients offer
your plants all of the macronutrients, not just the three primary nutrients, but also
the secondary macronutrients, and macro simply means that the plants need it in abundance.
So the three that everybody should know are your NPK, and that's off the periodic table
standing for nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium.
But the other three secondary, but yet still important, valuable macronutrients include
calcium, which accounts for about 30 percent of the dry weight of a plant, and it's found
in the cell walls of the tree, or of your plants, not just trees.
Calcium, the other one is magnesium, which is the heart of the chlorophyll molecule,
and the third one is sulfur, important for the enzymatic processes within the plant.
So by making sure you've got all six plant macronutrients in addition to with the super
blend, we've added the value of azomite for a lot of the micronutrient nutrition as well.
The plants have everything they need in an all organic way that feeds the soil, feeds
the soil biology, and results in optimal plant health, and at the end of the day, it's
our health.
Cool.
So yeah, you've got two versions, and one of them is actually a little bit more than
the other one.
So if you can't afford the good one, which is the super blend plus, you guys could get
this one for a fraction of the price, and then me personally, I'd buy this one and
then get some azomite and add it to it, and then call it a day.
Affordable approach, alright.
Nonetheless, I have looked over the ingredients of this, and actually this is something that
I would use, because they look like very clean ingredients, and a lot of minerals, especially
the trace minerals that he doesn't promote as much on the packaging, which I would, including
kelp, which have plant oxygens and minerals, oyster shell, langanite, basalt, yeah.
Really good stuff, guys, in his organic fertilizer.
Thanks John.
So Charles, anything else you'd like to share with my viewers today before we sign off?
I mean, at the end of the day, I know we're both of the mindset and pillars in educating
people on just doing what's right, and that's really the title of the book here, is saving
and not killing the world with your home garden.
There's so many choice products out there that will actually damage your, not just plants,
it might work for your plants, but it'll damage your health because you're using something
that's synthetic.
And your pet's health.
And your soil health.
I mean, we're, a lot of people are shopping Whole Foods, hoping they're getting better
quality stuff, but there's nothing better than what you can do on your own property.
If you can grow your own food, you're actually controlling what's happening within the garden,
and at the end of the day, you're also getting something that you're picking and using in
the same day, versus at Whole Foods, even if it was done perfectly well, it was picked
weeks ago and has been dying until you finally get your hands on it.
So, I mean, you have the opportunity to do the best you can, and if you're going to put
in the time, energy, and effort to grow a garden, do it right, and follow the organic
gardening principles, and you'll notice that it'll be as good, if not better than a lot
of these other traditional, I would say for the last 50 years, that rely more heavily
on synthetics and man-made toxins that are harmful, not just to your body, but also to
your property, and when it rains, leeches into our lakes, rivers, and ultimately our
ocean.
And again, that's the other principle behind the book, is learn what is possible with the
organic practices so that you can maybe make a difference with your voting, and through
legislation, and through laws, and see that it is entirely possible to do things the right
way.
And the right way is not always the easy way, and I want to thank you guys actually for
staying tuned in this video and watching this to learn about doing things the right way.
