Description:
lle choreographed a new Dunhuang dance segment for that show.
Dunhuang dance is a style of Chinese classical dance that draws inspiration from ancient Chinese paintings found in caves in the Dunhuang area of western China. The cultural exchange along the Silk Road shaped the art of this area, and Dunhuang dance is a modern reinterpretation of the dance forms depicted in these ancient Dunhuang paintings. The pipa is a traditional Chinese string instrument that was found illustrated in many of these Dunhuang paintings. It has become an icon of Dunhuang dance, and an artistic representation of the traditional instrument is used in this original choreography, “Whisper of Pipa”

UC Berkeley Fei Tian Dancers (FTD), Cal Wushu, and Cal VSA Lion Dance presented a joint end-of-the-semester showcase for the Spring 2022 Semester! Similar to our previous Fall 2021 joint showcase, “Wu” showcased a wide range of Chinese dance & martial arts performances, celebrating cultural diversity & sharing our hard work throughout the semester.
