This is newly obtained surveillance video showing the moment investigators say a speeding 30-year-old Nicholas Resto crashed into the back of that car early Saturday morning in Wilmington.
All three victims, a 41-year-old man, 35-year-old woman, and 48-year-old man were inside that car and died at the scene.
Action News reporter Amanda Pitts live in Wilmington tonight. Amanda, just a horrific tragedy there.
Horrific, Brian, and it happened right in the heart of downtown Wilmington here.
The victim's car was hit by that alleged drunk driver on 9th Street.
That vehicle was pushed down Walnut to 10th Street where it came to arrest right here.
And as you can see, it caught fire. The sidewalk is now charred.
And steps away from this is a growing memorial where the loved ones of those three victims are now mourning these tremendous losses.
This is the moment police say a speeding drunk driver slammed into the back of a car in Wilmington on Saturday, killing all three people inside.
30-year-old Nicholas Resto is now facing DUI and three counts of manslaughter.
I'm bitter and I'm mad with him for taking my baby from me.
Bridget Sellers lost her eldest son, 41-year-old Brandon Hill, in the crash that also took the lives of 48-year-old Curtis Jackson and 35-year-old Caroline Shockley.
Wilmington police say it happened just after 4 a.m. on Saturday at 9th and Walnut.
The vehicle came to a stop at 10th Street engulfed in flames.
I'm never going to see my son again and that part just breaks me.
All three victims were parents. Shockley leaves behind a two-month-old baby.
35 years old and still had a whole life ahead of her. She will be missed very much.
Sellers says her son survived a shooting and was turning his life around for his four children.
He got shot in 2004, left for dead, but he still continued to strive and try to do the best he can.
He finally got his life together and he was a substitute teacher.
Just to lose his life as a passenger in this vehicle.
As for Resto, he was transported to the hospital in stable condition while Sellers hopes for justice.
When I heard that the first time, I said, why didn't he die too?
But then I said, I'm a Christian. God forgive me for that because I don't wish death on nobody.
But I pray that he'd never get out of jail.
Again, Resto is facing DUI and three counts of manslaughter. His bond was set at $100,000.
