Barkly House is a contemporary brick home designed during the pandemic, blending heritage inspiration with modern living. Created for the son of a bricklayer, the house celebrates craftsmanship through masonry, marble, and granite finishes. The extension is carefully positioned to maximize solar access while maintaining a discreet street presence. A greenhouse-style side entry brings in winter sunlight, enhancing warmth and spatial quality. The layout balances light and function, with a south-facing kitchen and a north-facing sunken lounge. Rich materiality and moody bathroom designs featuring stone and Venetian plaster create a sophisticated, warm, and textural living environment.
