CLINICAL JAPAN breeze past Philippines Japan Philippines Highlights AFC Women s Asian Cup

Two-time Asian Cup winners Japan are aiming to keep their perfect run going as they face the Philippines in the quarterfinals of the AFC Women's Asian Cup in the Stadium Australia in Sydney. Japan yet to concede at this year's tournament and one of the favourites to go all the way. Early chance to break the deadlock inside the fourth minute of play. Yui Hasegawa looking for the top left corner. Big save though from Nina Meolo in between the sticks for the Philippines. All that pressure eventually paying off in stoppage time of the first half. Hard work. The ball over the line. Modded over that line by Mina Tanaka. Her first goal of the competition. Japan's 10th different goal scorer at this year's tournament. And just before the halftime interval there was time for a second from the corner. Toko Koga also getting her first tournament goal. Just her second start at this year's Women's Asian Cup. So Japan in complete control with a two-goal cushion heading into the second half. They would continue to tighten the screw and look more and more dangerous going forward. 65th minute. A lovely ball to the back post by Aoba Fujino. Remina Chiba there with the first-time finish. Back across the keeper into the bottom corner. Japan now with 12 different goal scorers at the tournament and nowhere near finished. Just yet 67th minute and it's time for Matsukuba to get her name on the score sheet at the Asian Cup as well. All in her first appearance in this year's competition. 76th minutes. Next drive forward from Japan and the next goal as well. Toko Koga with a brace. 19-year-old Tottenham defender makes it five with a little under a quarter of an hour still to go. 86th minutes as Japan come powering forward yet again and there is goal number six. Momoko Tanikawa with her second of the competition but the group C winners with time for the cherry on top. In the 90th minute of play Shimizu with the ball from out wide and Riko Ueki off the bench to score her fifth of the tournament and make it seven. The Nadeshikov win convincingly without conceding again putting seven past the Philippines to power through to the semi-finals in style.
