Today we celebrated Nowruz together in our village.
In the evening, we gathered around the fire and jumped over the flames, following an old tradition of the last Wednesday of the year. My sister prepared the Haft-Seen table with traditional items like sabzeh, garlic, apple, coins, sumac, senjed, and samanu.
For the Nowruz meal, we caught fresh trout and cleaned them at the spring near our wooden cabin. The fish were seasoned and prepared to rest before cooking.
My sister and I collected fresh herbs from the garden and chopped them for the meal. Meanwhile, our mother crushed walnuts and mixed them with onion, sour plums, pomegranate, and wild herbs to make a traditional stuffing.
We filled the trout with this mixture, sewed them closed, and cooked them slowly in the oven. Alongside the fish, we prepared Iranian rice.
In the end, we shared this traditional meal with guests who had taken refuge in our village.
This video shows real village life, Nowruz traditions, hospitality, and traditional cooking.
