Shoppers were left doing a double take this week, after a woman closely resembling Catherine,
Princess of Wales, was spotted casually pushing a trolley through the parking lot of a busy Tesco
superstore. The sighting reportedly took place at a large supermarket, located roughly a 12-minute
drive from the royal couple's recently-associated residence, Forest Lodge. Dressed in a simple purple
knit sweater, blue jeans, and a checked scarf, Catherine looked relaxed and low-key, as she
navigated the car park with a trolley full of groceries. Witnesses said the Princess of Wales
moved quickly through the lot, loading several white shopping bags into the trunk of a dark car
before returning the trolley. It looked incredibly normal, said one shopper nearby.
She pushed the trolley herself, carried the bags, and seemed completely at ease.
Photos circulating online show the Princess of Wales placing grocery bags marked with the
well-known blue and red logo of Tesco into her car. Over the years, the Princess of Wales has
often been described as someone who enjoys everyday family routines, including grocery
shopping, school runs, and quiet weekends with family. In late 2025, Prince William and Catherine,
Princess of Wales, began a new chapter of family life, after settling into what is expected to be
their long-term residence near Windsor. According to reports from The Telegraph, the royal couple,
both now 43, relocated to Forest Lodge, bringing along their three children, Prince George,
Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. The move reportedly took place during the children's
school half-term break, giving the family time to quietly adjust to their new surroundings.
The decision follows an earlier move in 2022, when William and Kate left Kensington Palace in
London and relocated to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor. At the time, the couple wanted to
experience life outside central London, and see whether the area better suited their family
routine. Their children soon enrolled at the nearby Lambrook School, helping the family
establish a quieter lifestyle, while still allowing the prince and princess to carry
out their royal duties. Living in Windsor also placed them closer to Catherine's parents,
Carol and Michael Middleton, who are known to play an active role in the lives of their
grandchildren. The transition to Forest Lodge represents more than just a change of address.
For the Wales family, it offers a chance to turn the page after several emotionally challenging
years. Only weeks after their earlier move to Adelaide Cottage, the family faced the passing
of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022. Her death brought major changes within the monarchy,
with King Charles III ascending the throne and Prince William becoming the next heir.
Another difficult period followed in 2024, when both King Charles and Princess Kate were
diagnosed with cancer. While the king continues undergoing treatment, the Princess of Wales
announced in January that she had entered remission. Forest Lodge, located just four
miles from their previous residence, is significantly larger than Adelaide Cottage.
The property reportedly includes eight bedrooms, doubling the space available in their former
four-bedroom home. Despite the increase in size, the couple has chosen to maintain a relatively
private household. Reports suggest they will continue their approach of not having full-time
live-in staff. Instead, longtime nanny Maria Turrian Borallo and other household employees
are expected to stay in nearby buildings within the estate rather than inside the main residence.
Forest Lodge itself has a long history. The Georgian-style mansion dates back to the 1770s,
and was later purchased by the Crown Estate in 1829. For many years, it served as the residence
for the deputy ranger of Windsor Great Park until the 1930s. Decades later, there were even
suggestions that Princess Anne and her then-husband Mark Phillips might move into the property,
although that never happened. For William and Catherine, the move to Forest Lodge marks the
beginning of a quieter and more spacious phase of family life, one that blends royal responsibility
with a strong focus on raising their children.
