The History of the Artistic Landscape Whimsical Landscapes Exhibition at Peninsula Gallery

Take a brief journey through the history of the artistic landscape with us!

This May, immerse yourself in scenes of psychedelic color and abstract imagery at our Whimsical Landscapes exhibition. For this show, we invited four artists to our gallery — Lynn Goldstein, Ann Guidera-Matey, Neelam Padte, and Peter Stolvoort — whose work subverts the traditional landscape by creating surreal and otherworldly depictions. Whimsical Landscapes conceptualizes the conventional landscape painting, asking viewers to challenge their expectations of this iconic genre.

In this short film, we will take you on a brief journey through the history of the landscape in art and how the genre has evolved over the ages. You will also hear from the contemporary artists featured in Whimsical Landscapes, who discuss how the art they are creating in 2023 reimagines this timeless art tradition.

Whimsical Landscapes is on display from May 6th to the 30th.

The gallery is located in the Shoppes at the Beacon Inn, 520 East Savannah Rd. Lewes, DE, and is open Tue-Sat, 10-5, and Sun 11-3.
