Cuba’s Economy Dependant on Political Change: Professor
Speaking with NTD's Jack Bradley on Cuba is Evan Ellis, research professor of Latin American Studies at the U.S. Army War College Strategic Studies Institute.
Professor Ellis spoke on Cuba opening its doors to exiles and nationals living abroad, including Cuban Americans, U.S. investment in the country, and what changes are necessary to improve relations with the U.S. and the conditions for its people.
Professor Ellis also discussed the changes necessary for Cuba to improve relations with the U.S., and the conditions for Cubans.
Ellis also discussed the parallels between the Soviet Union and Cuba, Venezuela and Cuba, and the decades of indoctrination by the communist party in Cuba that differentiates it from Venezuela.
Professor Ellis also discussed how Cuba's alignment with the U.S. has been a significant loss to China, and the differences between China's assistance to Cuba when compared to Venezuela. Cuba has survived by taking advantage of oil from Venezuela, Russia, and, to a certain degree, Mexico, the professor says.
