Camping Gear I Hope I Never Use (but always take)
Most camping gear is about comfort. This gear is about problems.
In this video, I’m sharing the camping gear I always bring and hope I never have to use — the items that stay buried in my pack unless something has gone wrong. From a first aid kit and personal locator beacon to blister tape, repair tape, a backup fire starter, and bear spray, this is the gear that earns its place by being ready for bad luck, bad timing, and unexpected situations outdoors.
None of this is the fun, cozy, exciting side of camping. But when conditions turn, these small and often overlooked items can make a huge difference.

Preparedness is strange because the best-case scenario is never needing any of it. But if the trip goes sideways, this is the gear I want with me.
What’s one piece of camping gear you always carry even though you hope you never have to use it? Let me know in the comments.
