Hi Today we're in a very beautiful place and we want to take you on a tour with us
But where are we We're in Como
Let's go Maybe we
should head up there
We're definitely climbing
up here There's Brody right
here Walk with us Hi Brody
Let's stroll along the lake
Let's walk slowly
Very slowly
Let's go slowly Very slowly At this rate
we won't even make it to the funicular station
So let's go a bit
faster Maybe yes Okay
But let's keep
talking
slowly Perfect
I think I grabbed the
wrong arm I've got the
camera And I'm holding
Brody So there's a lake here
There is also a bench
This bench is perfect for sitting and gazing at the lake
How beautiful The winter lake
Brody wants to go into the lake
Brody really enjoys swimming
Brody Hi But I
have a
question
Where is George
Clooney Yes Where is he I don't
know if we'll find him
today We're shooting I'll ask
around Where's George
Hi How's the
walk along the lake
Great We're almost at the funicular station
Why do we want to take the funicular to go up
It's one of our favorite things to do in Como
because Lake Como is very beautiful seen from down here but even more
stunning from above You can take walks
and there are restaurants as well
The perfect spots to enjoy an aperitif while
taking in the view of the lake and mountains
And meanwhile there are
seagulls that have decided to join the segment I don't know if they're
visible Hi They keep screaming
What on earth do
you mean Wait wait
See you if they've seen George
Excuse me
Have you seen George
No No
George
Has anyone here come to Como
Have you seen George
Let us know in the comments
We're curious
Today there's no line Usually
in summer there's a very
long line that stretches all the way here even beyond
Instead maybe because it's winter
there's no line for the funicular
Or maybe not
No no
That's why there's no
line The funicular
is closed It's closing for maintenance
Oh no
And now we're heading around to Como
Maybe I'm just saying maybe we'll run into George
But what do you like about Como
There are so many things you can do on Lake Como
Or perhaps not in winter In winter it's lovely to
come and stroll through the
streets of the city center
Having a coffee at a cozy indoor café and
watching the lake from afar in the warmth
In the estate there are places
where you can swim rent a
boat take a boat
ride and perhaps even try paddleboarding
soup
Yes George can be sought after in every season
There are many hotels like this along the lake
So many big hotels where George might be
We enter the center There are many
interesting little streets There
are also many people
and probably many tourists even in winter
It's a beautiful place
That's normal there
Everyone wants to visit I
need to go to the bathroom
Coffee here Yes
While Matteo's doing his thing I wanted to ask you
whether you're finding this slow episode useful
Sometimes Italians speak very quickly too quickly
And it's hard to understand and learn
them because it feels like a flood of words
These slower episodes however are precisely
what help you understand and learn
New phrases and new words
It's more like how children learn
Adults speak to them slowly and clearly
If you enjoy learning this way Easy
Italian community members have access
to the slow audio of all our
episodes including those
recorded on the street
where people speak extremely fast at night
There are also other materials
such as exercises
the crossword
and videos with and without subtitles

The Duomo of Como also known as the
Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta is a very important
monument in northern Italy and it was opened
around 1390
And it is a cathedral built in the Gothic style
You can tell can't you
I don't know
Well I'm reading
Google I'm reading
some things
One interesting thing
is that its construction
took place between approximately 1300 and 1700
So it's a combination of many styles—Gothic Renaissance and
Baroque—so styles that are also
very different from one another
The frog door on the left
side features a small sculpted
frog according to legend marking
the level reached by the lake
during a historic flood
Let's go see the frog
I remember
it because I've seen people touch
the frog and I think it brings good luck too
We go beneath the arches
But it's no longer a frog though it once
was There it is
It's not very visible but maybe it's lost its head as well
They say the lake has reached this far
Alpino
Wandering through the narrow streets of Como
we arrived at this very charming square
It's called Piazza del Antico
e Grain Market
It is called that because
as early as the 1100s
The entrance to the
square or the main
shop was a bakery
Brody was running it
Behind me is the church of
Sant'Eufemia I
believe I don't want to
say nonsense San Fedele
Behind me is the church of San Fedele
Here lie the remains of the saint
since around the year 900
First there were also columns
that were moved next to it
Let's go to Piazza Cavour now
We have arrived at Piazza
Cavour and from Piazza
Cavour as we said there is a wonderful view
The lake
From here you can
also see the Museo Voltiano
and Villa Olmo though
unfortunately they 're
currently undergoing
renovations so maybe
we should include some footage of them
stock footage type Something
that isn't ours but
that can show you
a bit of Villa Olmo
Villa Olmo is a villa
Built by the Marchesi Odescalchi in
1780 And here my memory ends
It is a very large villa with large
beautiful gardens that are open
to visitors In Como there are many
very large and very
beautiful villas
Some public ones you
can visit others
private ones you
can admire from
outside Maybe George is in one of
these No
Let's go visit George's villa I
don't know I'm
hungry And I'm cold
Hi Everything
perfect Just
that I wasn't recording
