Trump May Delay China Trip; Trump: 'We've Essentially Defeated Iran' | NTD Good Morning (March 16)
In an interview with the Financial Times published on Sunday, President Donald Trump signaled he may delay his upcoming trip to China, the first in nine years.
He didn't indicate how long the meeting might be delayed. In the interview, the president said that other countries, such as China, should help keep the Strait of Hormuz open. China gets 90 percent of its oil via the Strait.
Trump says Operation Epic Fury has dealt major damage to Iran’s military. Speaking aboard Air Force One on Sunday, the president said Iranian military capabilities have been severely degraded since the operation began. On Friday, U.S. forces struck Iran’s Kharg Island, one of the country’s most important energy hubs.
The shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security has entered its fifth week, leading hundreds of TSA agents to quit their jobs. Those who are staying on the job are calling out of work at a rate double the norm, causing some travelers to wait more than 3 hours at busy airports.
Nearly 50,000 TSA agents have already missed a partial payment and a full pay payment. Senators failed to approve funding before leaving Washington last Thursday. Democrats are insisting on changes to ICE's operations.
