Today I'm asking people a question that few enjoy answering
What is jealousy and when was the last time you felt jealous
I'm really excited Let's go
What is jealousy
A passion that creates suffering through jealousy
You put that very nicely
It's a proverb a German one
Jealousy arises when another person likes your partner's photos on social media
Jealousy occurs when your partner flirts with other people
Jealousy occurs when your partner is unfaithful to you
People are especially jealous there
What is jealousy
I don't know but jealousy is unnecessary that's for sure
Jealousy I think has a lot to do with ego and the issue of self-worth
When I have a stable sense of self-worth I don't need to
feel jealous of anything It's not envy Jealousy is not envy
What is jealousy
In my understanding jealousy primarily concerns other people
The fact that people don't love me as much as I expect or that others love them too
There’s an overlap with envy here
But for now it’s more about interpersonal relationships when it comes to jealousy
What is jealousy
A very ungrateful feeling that gives you nothing
It drains you of a great deal of energy I'd say
It can also be linked to envy I think Jealousy
I would describe as a longing for something
spending time with someone else or feeling missed or perhaps even envious
What is jealousy
To distrust others and feel envy toward them
I think jealousy is just something that's partly
justified I don't think you can simply overcome it
It always comes down to whether someone has an inferiority complex
feels something is missing in themselves or experiences uncertainty
And an uncertainty especially when it comes to
jealousy in relationships usually arises for a reason
Jealousy is a feeling that sparks intense effort in equal measure
It's a feeling where I'm utterly sad angry and disappointed
at someone doesn't pay attention to me or notice me the way I'd like to be
First and foremost I'd say that jealousy affects everyone
He might possibly in some way have something to lose
And that brings us straight to the biggest difference regarding the topic of envy
Jealousy is likely more about someone else having
something That could naturally be intellectual property
but also material possessions that yourself do not have Jealousy tends
more toward the disappointment that perhaps it could have been yours as well
s connected to someone else
Yes and also the fear of loss
You've already perfectly highlighted that distinction
Would you say there's a difference between envy and jealousy
Yes definitely
I think jealousy is very personal
and can connect with someone on a deeply personal level
where envy encompasses a broader spectrum of emotional states
I believe jealousy can only
be felt toward other people
or other living beings I'm fine with living beings
Sometimes you feel envious of a dog when it goes off to another
one Good point
Envy I think is something material
People envy material things Objects
Objects circumstances jobs
So in a way circumstances or possessions
but nothing human or alive
Envy is more widespread
I want what others have
I don't think it's fair that others have things
I wish I had that too I
feel like others have it better easier
simpler And that’s envy
And that can
involve people but also things—
wealth houses cars Jealousy is more specific
I think this is strongly related to
relationships especially romantic ones
Is there a difference for you between envy and jealousy
Yes clearly
So envy is really just another form of resentment
at one begrudges someone something
And jealousy is truly
at you feel you have needs that aren't being
met and perhaps that's why you're also sad
As you can see the difference between jealousy and envy isn't
always so clear-cut That's why I'
ve made an extra video just for you
Checked the definition in the Duden
And the Duden states
jealousy is a strong exaggerated fear
aving to share someone's love or advantage with another person or
losing them to someone else In
short what I fear about jealousy is
something I already have Envy on the other hand is a feeling in
which someone begrudges another
person their possession or success
I don’t want to give up what I have yet I desire what I don’t have
So when I feel envy I wish for
something someone else already possesses
As you can see emotions can
be quite confusing
and learning languages is no exception And if that's how you feel too

Can you tell me about a time when you were
jealous Yes well I was
once extremely jealous
my then-boyfriend because I
get the feeling he really likes
a girlfriend of mine And yet
I wanted to be totally cool
and not let him
notice Exactly
so I acted as if
I weren't jealous
But that was really terrible
And then it often gets worse when you
swallow it all down inside Exactly it
was really something that could have
been resolved through a conversation
I could have quickly resolved
this situation I was definitely
very jealous whenever my boyfriend
did things with other people
where I thought
just us do
that I was really jealous
I can totally understand that
Yes when you think
Hey that was our thing wasn't it
Can you give me an example of a
situation where you felt jealous so
we can better understand it Okay
when does this feeling usually come up
In different stages of life it varied
Even when I was little
there was jealousy between my siblings and me
for attention from our parents
That's a classic
Classic exactly
And later on yes of course
you fall in love with someone
and feel like
for heaven's sake
He thinks someone else is better
or makes a different choice
That’s a very painful feeling
It affects not only oneself
but also the people
one is jealous of
I believe this is one of the most destructive feelings
I know even in myself
I could celebrate my
cousin as mentioned
and we'd agreed to
head on to
a bar later
because he had friends of his that
I know quite well
however he actually did when
I wasn't around at the time
e people he'd met with whom
he then continued on his
way leaving me practically
behind That was a situation
where it became noticeable to me
Yes then you simply feel excluded
Could you perhaps describe a situation to me
Have you ever felt jealous
Sure of course in the past
I've been in that
situation with an ex-girlfriend before You're at parties
There were also occasions when one or two gentlemen came a bit too
close to her and of course I had to
trust my friend in those situations
and let her handle the rules herself
but I did feel jealousy
there Definitely
Exactly I was once jealous for example
And when my partner met up with her ex-boyfriend
I naturally feared losing her
but everything turned out fine
Yes everything went well
Then it's good after all
Is there something we can learn from our jealousy
Anything positive
Where do we find ourselves in this uncomfortable
feeling I think jealousy
can push us to our limits
There one gets to know oneself better
and perhaps one can better gauge
one's feelings I believe we must
learn to love her and truly see her
at behind it might lie entirely different
needs such as wanting to be seen
o be loved
I believe that part of our jealousy
which we project onto other people
and observe
Perhaps these people are responsible for how we feel loved
and seen so we might as well
do something good for ourselves
One can learn from this that it achieves
nothing and doesn't move one forward so
it's better to focus oneself
and that nothing can be changed about it
in the current situation yet somehow find
the positive in it or perhaps simply
address it and communicate more effectively
at it never comes to that
in the first place Addressing issues is always a
good solution I believe jealousy
can help us get to know ourselves better
and note that
Where our fears are
what we fear helps us
become a better person
and perhaps
more balanced
Absolutely I couldn't
agree more That was no
easy question Now I'd like to hear from you
