The video includes discussion about Roman military and trade advancement leading up to the First Triumvirate (Marcus Crassus, Magnus Pompey, and Julius Caesar). The impact of Julius Caesar as dictator perpetuo is described. A brief outline is given of the Ides of March and the assassination of Julius Caesar by Brutus and Cassius. The Roman Civil war is included in the lesson leading to the Second Triumvirate (Octavian, Marc Antony, and Lepidus). The battle of Actium between Octavian and the forces of Marc Antony and Cleopatra is taught leading the the eventual formation of the Roman Empire with Caesar Augustus Octavian as the first Emperor of Rome.
