Winter Exhibitions in LA (2026)
In this video, I take you on gallery visits across Los Angeles, moving through five exhibitions that each approach memory, beauty, and perception in very different ways. We begin at David Zwirner with Portia Zvavahera’s Zvibereko zvemweya wangu, a deeply intimate body of work shaped by dreams, spirituality, and matriarchal care, then head to Hauser & Wirth for Flora Yukhnovich’s Bacchanalia, where art history, excess, and visual overload collide. From there, we visit Vielmetter to explore Kiriakos Tompolidis’s Your Tears Will Dry, an exhibition about family history, and migration. At Michael Kohn Gallery, Nir Hod’s Dorian’s Gardens unfolds as a seductive yet uneasy meditation on beauty, reflection, and decay. We end the tour at Night Gallery with Andy Woll’s New Objectivity, a quiet, rigorous show focused on observation, restraint, and sustained attention. Together, these visits form a layered walkthrough of contemporary painting in LA, offering space to slow down, look closely, and sit with what these works are holding.
