Sonakshi Sinha’s 4,000-square-foot Mumbai home is an embodiment of understated luxury.
The idea of creating multifunctional spaces tailored to Sinha’s lifestyle was at the heart of reD Architects’ creative process. An airy four-bedroom apartment was duly transformed into a 1.5 bedroom home complete with an art studio, a yoga area, a dedicated dressing room, and a walk-in wardrobe overlooking the sea. Sliding walls, Murphy beds, and automated screens allow the actor to continually adapt her home to fit her every requirement. “Rajiv and Ekta have done a fantastic job of getting my vibe right,” a satisfied Sinha (@aslisona) tells us.

Hello AD, this is Sonakshi Sinha and you probably knew that because you've come to my house but
welcome to my new home, come. I always had this dream of having my own house so this is it, here
we are today. Okay so I don't know if you guys know but I am also an artist that means I paint.
This is one of my creations and I was very specific with Rajiv that I wanted a space
where I can actually just unwind my painting and he created this very cute little spot for me right
at the entrance of my house. So this entire thing opens up and becomes like this really
cute cozy corner like my own small little studio. So this is my living area, I made sure I get a
very big TV so that I can sit and have movie nights with my friends because that is something
very very important to me but what I am most proud of in this entire space is this dining table.
This whole thing is made of one big block of wood and it's just beautiful and sturdy, I can even
get on drop and dance. Come, I'll show you my room. This is my room, so this was actually the
master bedroom of the house which I've turned into a closet and if you're wondering how all
this stuff stays clean, that's how. It's quite cool actually. This was a four bedroom but I made it into
a one and a half bedroom. What do I mean by one and a half? Let me show you. So this entire
sliding door opens up into the other side so I have one huge room and the best part is
this innocent little wall that you see is actually a bed so it comes down whenever I need it.
This is the first home I've designed along with Rajiv and Ekta who've done a fantastic job getting
my vibe right. When Sonakshi came to meet us in the studio, one of the first few things she
mentioned that she was looking for an understated simple home. She was really open with the idea of
having multifunctional adaptive spaces. So we've always obsessed with the idea of moving walls,
how can space adapt to multiple functions, multiple times of day, multiple types of users.
So then we always tend to engineer solutions to that versus just off-the-shelf solutions
which don't allow adaptability. Okay and this is what I've been waiting for. My favorite spot
is the deck area. I feel once I sit there I don't feel like getting up. It's windy, it's never hot.
This is a beautiful space where I actually don't feel like leaving anymore so I think that's
problem. So that was it. Thank you for gracing my home with your presence. I hope you guys liked it
and come again sometime.
