My next video from South Africa is from the Sabie and Kruger National Park which means there's stunning nature, spectacular waterfalls and lots of wildlife! Big thanks to Thomas, Jacqui and Vula Tours for inviting me to this legendary region. In April 2017 I left Australia for a solo trip around the world on a BMW F800GS. I named it “Are We There Yet” because I don't know my final destination or the duration of this journey.
I'm heading to Sabi to catch up with some friends and to finally explore the Kruger National Park
You can't do it on a bike we're just gonna have to
rent a car or go on a tour I'm not sure yet when we get there we'll set it up
The weather has gone bad for the last 60 days
Welcome to Sabi
How's my hair?
It's cinnamon-ready
Lovely, lovely
And how's your hair?
Mascara on or nothing
This is my beautiful hosts here in Sabi I just arrived to this guys yesterday and we had a nice dinner
and we hang out it was awesome so this is Thomas and Jackie
They're running Sabi Valley Rider Academy, right?
Go to right
And I really hope to you guys to see you in Johannesburg
Maybe I'll be joining them for their little training, hey?
Yeah, that'd be nice
And maybe for your brunch, right?
Jackie
Yeah
Guys, thank you so much for having me until next time, hey?
Yeah
I really enjoyed my stay in my very comfortable bed
You too
You look after yourself
And you too
Time to go, bye
Thank you
Waterfalls
And this is the first one
My GoPro
Oh, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait
Can you see me?
And the fourth one
Bye waterfalls
Okay, the last one for today I promise
Waterfalls number five
Thomas and his friends have arranged me a complimentary room at the little
Pilgrim's Boutique Hotel
Look at that
This is really, really, really nice
So much luxury
Wow
Today was really
Really a unique
Morning
It's 5 30
Around six o'clock because I slept in
And this is Gero
Gero is taking me for
What do you call this tours?
Morning game drive
So we're going to Kruger National Park to look at the animals
So normally you would put people here at the back?
Yeah
How many people?
Well we've got nine at the back
It's three times three seats
And one person can sit next to me
Like you're doing now
Cool
I've got my privacy today
That's altogether ten tourists
Size of the Kruger Park
Average two million hectares
Oh, wow
Massive
It's 20,000 square kilometers
This is in the South African side
Yeah
The Eastern Frontier as well
You're looking at another million hectares
Wow
That's another story
Just to come back to Kruger itself, the original
We've got about 2,000 kilometers network roading
There's gravel and there's asphalt
And if you had to drive on all those roads
Would take you 17 days
That's insane
We're only here for about five hours
How many lodges?
How much accommodation is a lot?
A lot
Yeah, if you take out gates
Got eight big gates that can enter from all over the park
And you can only access the park in a vehicle
You can't go on a bike, right?
Because of the sound of the engine
Sound and safety
Safety
The animals can attack you, right?
Well, I don't think you want to be in a breeding herd of elephants in the middle
Some lions that are pretty hungry
So Gerald, why we call these animals that we're going to see here hopefully
All of them today
Hopefully
Big five
Okay, say over 150 years ago, 100 years ago
The big game hunters in Africa
I mean especially places like the old Rhodesia, Zimbabwe, South Africa with hunting Kenya
The animals that the hunters used to go for
And they coined the phrase of the big five most dangerous animals when hunting
Right, so they can attack you, right?
Well, basically what happens
If you're going to shoot one of these animals and you don't take it down
You miss or you wound them
Then they're going to come and take you out
So what are they?
Elephant, lion, buffalo?
Yeah
Giraffe?
No
Leopard?
Leopard
And rhino
Black rhino
No hippo?
No hippo, no
Okay, now it shows you a stage it's not
The big five because they're big
I mean a leopard is
Well, that's what I thought
Yeah, well this is what most people do
Yeah
If you think about it, it's the five most dangerous animals when hunting
Our first animals today
Zebras
Hi zebras
So
What are you looking for?
It looks like he's lost something
It's how they forage
What's your name?
Namasade
What is it?
My name is Kinga, very nice to meet you girls
Nice to meet you
You can say hi to my followers
