Despite breaking a record today Mohamed Salah s performance was extremely poor

To involve every fan To witness the joy he brought in his first season To be honest when Jürgen left I worried we'd be right back in the fight to finish in the top four because it's a fiercely competitive Premier League Arsenal keep investing Man City keep investing You're wondering when will Chelsea and United start performing well again That 's why I was worried we might fall behind That first season was unbelievable to secure the Premier League title To manage the contracts of Trent Salah and Van Dijk they're three massive players Throughout the season if they hadn’t rated him as a manager or coach they would have left But what did they actually say about it And I’ve been saying this for about six months now And they say oh yeah but he won it with Jürgen's team Well why didn't Jürgen win it the year before He didn't win it And they say well City and Arsenal dropped points So what We were the better team and won it comfortably We can't go against our manager and players just six months after winning a trophy That's wrong Becky And no I'm not saying the football hasn't been great Of course it hasn't But I believe there's been a lot of questioning and reflection surrounding it So I'm just asking everyone to take a breath and stay calm Listen to Tomo He knows what he's talking about Let's get the reaction there Kara Tomo thinks we' re going to win the league next year Do you Kara Absolutely At the start of the year that's always on my mind Just echoing what some of the guys mentioned Taking over after Jürgen Klopp feels almost impossible given how beloved he was by everyone And now Salah has arrived It’s been absolutely seamless in the first year Dealing with the tragedy we experienced that summer was never going to be easy We’re not a club like Chelsea or one of those big teams Who fires managers every ten minutes We're a club that stands by its managers We have banners honoring our great managers in the Kop The role of Liverpool's manager is a uniquely special one The numbers don't lie We all as fans need to ease up a bit Well done Kara Good girl thank you so much Micah I'm going to come back to you We're bringing Ryan Gravenberg in from Ramsport so he'll be with us very shortly But before we talk to him Mike Mo Salah also reached a milestone tonight Yeah and just to highlight Mo Salah's longevity He's now surpassed Jamie Carragher one of Liverpool's all-time leading appearance -makers overall and has also moved ahead of him in Champions League appearances He's hit 81 this evening Carragher you can see there on 80 If you look at the current squad in this list You look at Andy Robertson and Virgil van Dijk—they're climbing that table too But yeah it really shows the longevity of Mo Salah And of course Liverpool have been in the Champions League for most of his season with us whereas that wasn’t always the case during Carragher’s time But the truth is Liverpool wouldn't have played so many Champions League games if it weren't for Mohamed Salah and the goals he's scored and what he's done for the club So to overtake you know he's ahead of Carragher and Stevie G there The legendary Stevie G So he's topping an outstanding list there And it's yet another milestone for his book He seems to have you could literally write an entire book Full of records about Mo Salah right now because he really does have that many Yeah in terms of goals from those 81 appearances 52 goals from those Mel You and I have praised him on The Review Show countless times over the years And he remains a legend in the club still here But one of those players who in years to come will make it special to say you watched Mo Salah Yeah the same people who are asking Why isn't he putting up the same numbers this season The ones who'll say he' s one of our greatest players ever He's not having the same season this year But for me if we're going to achieve anything this season he'll be crucial to that because he's still an unbelievable force in the final third Tonight wasn't his night He's been substituted after 60 minutes He'll be disappointed by that But Salah for me has shown season after season The consistency of scoring creating Even this season there was a stat there Opta might or might not be able to get it right I think he's already recorded 17 goal contributions in the Premier League from 27 starts—far ahead of everyone else—and yet everyone keeps telling me this player is better I'm sure he's up there among the top players in terms of goal contributions goals and assists So I feel like he's under an unfair burden of expectation Why isn't he in 40 Because he did play last season He's still a top-tier player And for me if he's not in the starting lineup That would be quite a surprise I believe if we win anything Salah should be the one to take home the award That's a fair point since you're looking at it Yes I'd like to see more of Rio But would that be on the left which I think is his better position But you look at it and that's why Mo's always on the wing because you know there's an assist in him He's had his share of poor performances but you always get the sense that he'll deliver when it matters most And I agree with him He'll be devastated to come off But I think you have to put the team first Always put the team first And that's why among all the greats of Liverpool he's in my top ten and he absolutely belongs there—he's still playing That elite status comes after you've finished But Mo Salah believes because he keeps breaking record after record that's precisely why he deserves a place among the greatest of all time who've played for Liverpool Speaking of legends Phil Neal is also on that list I've seen it It's beautiful One of the few names honored in that way He played in 417 consecutive games He earned an honorable mention when I list my top ten He was just outside that group But look at Nealy there What a player Longevity Absolutely And the number of trophies he won He was a proper good footballer OK thanks We 're going to head back to Rams Park Because Ryan Gravenberg as promised is with Peter McDowell Ryan disappointing tonight Is that the overwhelming emotion right now for the players in that dressing room as well Yeah of course If you come here we know it's going to be a tough game And if you play like this it's not good enough But we know it's only the first game We have the second game at Anfield and we have to turn it around There have been so many occasions this season Maybe luck just hasn't been on our side There was such determination from the start We might have even been two goals ahead by the time they scored I know Sometimes we feel on the pitch that fortune isn't on our side But you saw especially in the first five ten minutes I think if we'd scored one or two goals it would have been a completely different game you know But yeah in the end we just didn't play well We know that and next week it has to be much better You set such high standards don't you And moments in the game—just moments weren't they You had to defend because they're formidable at home And we had good chances in that final third I know If you don't score against them and you concede first with this atmosphere and these fans it'll be tough here you know So hopefully next week we play at our own stadium with our own fans and yeah we 're confident we can turn it around You take encouragement from the performance You say it's not good enough but as we always say on another day if you score early it becomes a different game—chaotic perhaps not the kind they'd want here I know That's why I said next week we'll have our own fans playing at Anfield playing at home And we're confident we can turn it around We have a strong team talented players but we need to work hard and prove to them that we can deliver There were loud celebrations coming from the changing room at the end Does that give you that extra push perhaps thinking they’ ve already got one foot in the quarter-finals Of course of course They're happy now but we have to show them that we're happy next week
