Missing husky Kendo found and reunited with family in Springfield

It's a story we first told you about last month. The missing dog in Springfield is finally back home with his family after sparking a citywide search. 22 News reporter Christina Demores joins us live in studio after speaking with the family about this long awaited reunion. Kendo, the husky was missing for more than a month, was feared to be injured and his family thought this moment would never come. After more than a month on the run, Kendo is finally safe and sound. Got the one year old Siberian husky went missing February 5th after slipping through a damaged fence outside his family's home in Springfield. Since then, Kendo sightings popped up across the city and into nearby communities. Come here, baby. Witnesses also believe Kendo had been hit by a car, adding to more fears that his injuries had him running in survival mode. Suffered a lot because it's like a child for me. I have other two huskies and they were suffering too. I love my pups. Volunteers from missing months search and rescue helped organize search efforts, hanging posters and setting feeding stations. And by Tuesday morning, it all paid off. Around 2 20 a.m. Rescuers safely trapped the pup in Forest Park. It was time he was, we were all losing it. We were tired and she's a new mom and I couldn't sleep because now I feel like he was one of my dogs. Kendo's family says they are grateful for this community effort from neighbors reporting sightings to volunteers staying up through the night, sometimes during freezing temperatures. The family never gave up hope. We're very appreciative for everybody in Forest Park. If honestly, like if it wasn't for our neighbors, we wouldn't have Kendall home right now. And now Kendo is where he belongs, getting the rest love and attention that he needs after this month long journey. Kendo did get a clean bill of health from the vet and his family says he is happy to be home working for you tonight. Christina Morris 20 News.
