On October 18, 2024, I went to one of the largest pottery fairs held in Yamashina, Kyoto.
The official name of the festival is “Kiyomizu Pottery Festival.
Originally, there are many pottery stores in this area, but during this festival, Kiyomizu-yaki artists and other potters from the neighborhood exhibited their works.

We have a lot of fun visiting their tents and local potters' stores. If you like Japanese pottery, you should definitely visit this event at least once.

Since the artists themselves are exhibiting, you can find prototypes (made with different clay, glaze tests, etc.) and
There were also dead stock and other outlet items.
The festival will be held again next fall.

About the “morning trouble” at the end of the video
We took the Keihan bus from Yamashina station, which was supposed to take us to the venue in about one bus ride.
However, we jumped on a bus that arrived at the bus stop (not complicated by any means) and arrived at a university in the city.
We were so busy talking that we didn't notice it at all until the driver told us it was the last stop....
Anyway, when you take a bus, check the bus number, not the stop (as a matter of course).

By the way, it took about 10 minutes by cab from Yamashina Station to Shimizu Danchi, and the fare was 1600 yen.
On the way back, the bus was crowded, so we used the cab app GO (like the Japanese version of Uber) to call a cab back to Yamashina Station. (It is quite difficult to pick up a cab in the complex.) There is a charge of a few hundred yen, but there is no stress of taking a crowded bus.
