Learn how to use the Stitch 'N Flip Sewing Machine Tape. Lisa runs through a quick "how to" for you to install and use your Stitch 'N Flip guide.
Hey everyone, it's Lisa Bonjean from Primitive Gatherings and today I'm going to show you how
to use our stitch and flip machine tape. Now what is stitch and flip machine tape? So a lot of
patterns out there have you draw lines across your squares and stuff like this. This is going to
eliminate drawing any lines and it makes it super easy to do any size or any of that kind of thing.
But first I'll show you how to put it on your machine. All right, so I have my machine here.
I cleaned off my area here a little bit. Now I want to put the center of this tape right in the
center of my needle. So I'm just going to put my needle down, take my ruler and line it up exactly
with that. So now I have a sharpie marker here. I'm just going to give myself a little bit of
a guideline here to follow when I'm putting this down. So sometimes I would just do this to my
machine and use that line but it wears off fairly quickly. But now I have this super cool tape that
it's going to go right on that line and help me out. So I'm going to also trim this nice and
close to the edge there. I do not need that little lip there. I'm going to put that right before my
feed dogs in the middle. If you don't have as much room or if you have like inserts and things
like I have, I'm going to show you how to work with that as well. So find the end here. There we go.
So I am going to just now, as straight as I possibly can, I'm going to go right up to where my
feed dogs start and I'm going to place this center line on that center line I drew. So it's right in
the line of my needle. I'm going to hold on to both ends here and then I can just kind of see
through where that is. So I'm going to run right down the middle and then go to the edges. Now
if you have to lift up your door here or you're going to pull your machine out every once in a
while, that's okay because you can take like your seam ripper or a little exacto knife and you can
go in there and trim that out. See how I just did that? I cut that so when I open my door now
it'll just move like that, all right? And I can even pull that off if I wanted to.
There. Now here as well, like if I needed to take my machine out, I could actually cut that too.
All right, so it's on there nice. Now I'll show you how to use it. So I have a rectangle and a
square. I'm going to place those right sides together. Got my machine on and I'm going to
put this point to the center of my needle and I'm going to run this point along the center of the
tape. So I got that in there nice and line with the needle. Now see this piece right here? This
is where I'm going to watch as I stitch. So I'm going to run this through machine but I'm not
looking here, I'm looking here. So I'm looking right here as that goes through. There you go.
Then you could just trim this here or if you want to save this, we're going to run this
on this line here and then watch what's going to happen. So I'm looking right here,
I'm going to go into my needle. So I'm going to follow this and then I can cut this here.
I have a waste triangle that now I can use for another project and then here's my stitch and
flip corner. So this, like I said, eliminates the need to actually draw any line. Isn't that great?
I'm super excited for you. All right, so again, we have our stitch and flip machine tape. It comes
in a package like this. There are seven of them in there. You can share them with your friends
or you can put them on all of your machines. So get yourself some of this and you will not
be disappointed in it.
