The New York Police Department says a third suspicious device has been recovered in connection with an improvised explosive device (IED) thrown during dueling protests outside Gracie Mansion on Saturday.

Officers found the device in a vehicle on East End Avenue between 81st and 82nd Streets, temporarily evacuating nearby buildings while the Bomb Squad assessed the threat.

FBI New York confirmed Sunday evening that the second device recovered near Gracie Mansion has also been identified as an improvised explosive device.

Saturday’s protests erupted after conservative activist Jake Lang organized a demonstration against public Muslim prayer. Counter-protesters gathered nearby. Authorities say an 18-year-old counter-protester ignited and threw an IED, then attempted to flee with a second device obtained from a 19-year-old. Both suspects. Emir Balat and Ibrahim Kayumi, were arrested.
