Was able to win against Emanuel Leveson in season 2
Still has some good wins. I mean at his peak he was around 80 in the world
Has had good results in the US Open. Yeah
Yeah, well won the US Open in 2016
See what he can bring to the table
revolution would
certainly like a
Strong performance here from Cho as they trail
three points to six
Every time I think of Wei Wang, I go back to the match when he played Daniela Pinto of Chicago
who was injured at the time, but figured out a way of
Playing perfect position. I'm just really surprised
Wei Wang and also yet another match against Marco Duran their former teammates in Spain. Yes, Marco Duran played
Brilliantly against him. So when that happens if you are practice partners teammates
it really gives so much more of an advantage to the offensive player because they learn your spin as
well as your
Tempo as well. I think this is gonna be
I mean
Wang's gonna have to play
Really? I think heavy chops in the initial stages of the rally
Because if Cho can get in with those more powerful forehands off the first forehand
then
Wei Wang is gonna be
Certainly on the back foot, but also struggling to figure out how to turn things around
There's a nice third ball attack from him
Does have a more modern defensive style. So like you said there are attacking options for him from both wings
Certainly confidence plays a big role in an attack versus defense match. So
If Wei Wang's able to
sow some seeds of doubt kind of similar to what we saw in the first the first couple of games of
the entire team match between Ola and
Eugene Wong
just a little bit of doubt would help slow him down, but
Can't really that's
Compounding interest really. I mean the technique and the power
By Cho you see him just taking the ball wider and wider and there's no
hesitation whatsoever
again, I credit
in Korea same in Japan the number of choppers that elevate the offensive players when they play against that style of play because they
See it regularly
But Wei Wang he has beautiful offense
And he was able to sneak it in
the difference is when he's trailing two or three points is when
It's not as big of a surprise
He has to go for it against a player like Cho Seung-min
Looking for that forehand opportunity
Cho 8-4 in the lead here in game one
Big backswing on that one
That ball didn't come out as far as I think Cho expected it. There was a lot of spin
Just reaching up for it, but still really good body position good footwork
It's these shots right here that are gonna be so difficult on
Interesting sure. I'm sure he could have covered that ground about 20 years ago, but it's those drop shots are pretty tough
You could see how long he held there waiting for
Waiting for the next smash. Yeah, and never came. He had to cover both directions of this smash also
Nice work by Wang there just getting some separation between placements
certainly a
Cho Seung-min on the move a little bit harder for him to create that power foundation at his feet and not under him
Pay some point there
11-6 first game goes to Cho Seung-min of the revolution
Tam Wang Wei bounce back and figure out ways to break down that powerful forehand
The top two teams from the West season 3 we have 10 teams in total
So a little bit harder to make the playoffs for each team
but the revolution and the gold rush certainly in
contention to make the playoffs and
Their biggest roadblock on the way to that qualification is each other
Last time these two teams met at Alameda County fairgrounds
Princeton won 13 to 8 over the gold rush
Right now the gold rush lead 6 to 4
The pressure is really on
the defender Wang Wei
Cho Seung-min just looking very confident very decisive
it seems Matt that if
Wei Wang would just literally say forget the defense. Let me just constantly put offense
Now he's winning a point here and there like we saw on that last one, but with a two-point lead he's got
that
Behind him helping him
And just taking these strong attacks
Much easier to say that sitting up here
We're not choppers by any stretch of the imagination
but knowing he does have that second gear of offense that he could go to
Why not just come out with that and put?
Cho in a whole different position length instead of letting him open up on the first and second shot with so much spin
Yeah
Has been able to play some stronger offensive shots
But I guess the question for him is whether he feels confident that if he does play offense can he win the points
Cho Seung-min's a player that can
Probably overpower him in the offensive rallies as well
Ultimately, I think for him. It's just getting really heavy rotation on the first ball
Stan looking
T.S. Harbison on the bench there
yeah, unless there's something that
where one can do to slow down the forehands from
Cho or to make him kind of a little bit off balance. I
Think it's gonna be an uphill battle. It's just
there there are some players that are just great against defense and
Cho has that advantage of being left-handed where he can play a safer cross-court angle into the pipside
But also that the amount of power in that contact is
Even if Wong can return the ball. He's
Still at the mercy of the next follow-up shot
Service clocks counting down and he might get a warning here
My hand goes up as the clock reaches zero
Even in the serve return game
The placement from Cho has been really good and you can see him
Just working that wider backhand. I
think he recognized early on that if
Wei can step around and play forehand third ball. Those are really the best opportunities he has to win the point
He's not shifting the ball out to the forehand being so obvious, but he's kind of presenting it saying here's the ball that you want but
It's not quite exactly where you want it
Kathy Lane, as I said last time here in Broward, it's the boss and the boss's boss. Exactly
That was an incredibly quick game there 11-1 for Cho Seung-min
2-0 lead to the Princeton Revolution. They're just one point behind
As they look to tie things up
Putting his best foot forward for the Princeton Revolution
Winning game to 11 points to one
just a
Masterclass a drubbing and how to yeah how to thump a defensive player
Cho is one of the highest rated spindex players in the league
2789 a hundred points of separation between these two players
Seems like there's at least in spindex every 50 points. There's almost a level of play. So
You're seeing the difference between
That difference but it has been all revolution as they're just fighting to come back
At this rate, I don't think we'll see a golden
point here
In game three. I'm shocked that we haven't seen a single golden point yet
The closest games have been 11-8 we haven't even seen 11-9
And it's not a one-way traffic. It's very back-and-forth between both teams. I
think it just comes to the the style matchups here and it's why these
Tactical team lineups is so important for the coaches
yeah, other than Eugene Wong after dropping the first game coming back and
Dodging a slight bullet in game two where he was up a
number of points and then it was tied up with Ola at six all then he sprinted to the finish line first and
Then took game three comfortably
This is gonna be a great one. Yeah, Koyo Kanemitsu and
And so always this is a one that could be a little bit closer than some of the other ones
I almost like to think of a match like that is a playoff level match where you're taking points from the opposing team
Which is already important, but it's so late going into the golden game that if you can just tweak it from 7-8 to 8-7
This is the first time out that's actually being used
there's definitely a lot of
Almost a cheekier persona. Yeah a lot more personality and
Hopefully one of the things we are able to do with MLTT is
Bring a lot more of the personalities of each of these amazing players. I
Like the new you've been served
Content that we're serving up and giving you a chance to see players do something
That is I'm waiting for the you've been backhanded edition by Ola
You've been stomped right now is going on with yeah
Yeah, I mean the difficulty with defensive players is that at a
Certain point when a player is that comfortable with defense
There's really not many places to run. You're kind of backed into a corner, you know, you don't have the luxury of
You know, unless you can come out and flip the racket over and swing a massive backhand loop like De Santillan
If the play is comfortable with defense, even if you attack they have ways of getting you back into that defensive mode, so
It's it's not an easy position to be in and I think for the gold rush
Really about as far from a matchup style matchup that they would want but
That's the reality of these matches and just gonna try and get some points on the board
Wong had managed to close and get a couple
Cho's still pretty far out in the lead here. Just two points away from the sweep
Would have been very interesting
If all I had been playing this match and Cho playing up top
Because I think Cho
Would have done well against
Eugene well ironically enough last time they played he lost to him in the opening match
So so maybe that was the logic
With moving Cho to play singles after doubles 11 points to 4 pretty clean run there from Cho Seung-min
And we are tied up the Prince and Revolution have bought things back and it's six points each
