Springfield Asian Student Alliance celebrates Lunar New Year

Charter School Asian Student Alliance is celebrating the Lunar New Year with its third annual festival. Students, families and the community gather to honor Asian traditions while promoting awareness and unity. The event featured traditional lion and dragon dance performances, cultural games and food and raffles. It celebrates the year of the horse, often associated with taking action, making change and creating movement over stagnation. The president of the Alliance explains why this started connecting back to covid near 2020. It was more of the Asian race demographic that was mainly marginalized and we wanted to more outreach for community, right? We want to showcase our impact and showcase the different impact our cultures made and how we can celebrate that. And it's been a wonderful experience. Wong says he'd like to see more schools incorporate this alliance to continue to make an impact and provide knowledge about Asian cultures to several communities.
